  • Texas is like a WHOLE other world, but there are so many things that make it unique... and weird. I've noticed a bunch of interesting things in the two years that I have been going to college here (and I just got into Texas A&M, yay!) that I never would have guessed.

As someone from Texas, this is really hilarious because it's so spot on! (Yes, we absolutely do worship that beaver, Bucky's. No road trip is complete without a stop at that shopping mall of a gas station.)

Victoria, stumbled onto this video and think you have nailed the Texas culture. I am a lifelong Texan and A&M grad from decades ago. Very impressed with your positive attitude and enthusiasm. Texas A&M ‘92 graduate here. You nailed everything about the state of Texas. I live in Florida now but I am so proud being a Texan. By the way congratulations on being an Aggie. A&M is NOT the same school when I was there. It is so much better now. There is a big buzz for the younger generation in Texas to become an Aggie. A&M is a school with traditions - saying “howdy” to everyone at the campus, midnight yell practice, the Texas Aggie Band, bonfire, standing during the football game, and Elephant Walk. Then you get your Aggie ring once you’re eligible. A&M is such a great school. 👍

I went to ny for ONE week and the mood was SOOO different, it's like everyone just has a goal in mind and live in their own world (of course this is not the same for everyone), which is crazy to me. Nice video! By the way, I like the food at Kitchen Little on Mason's Island. Texas' economy is strong due to the conservative base .....that is currently changing and once you get to Austin you'll realize that it's a good thing that you can prepare Ramen and like it.....Austin isn't inexpensive and you'll figure that out really quickly if you try to rent/buy living quarters. Great to hear all the positives in your video. Congratulations on acceptance into aTm......I'd be interested to know how someone from the land of Duncan Doughnuts chose Aggieland. Gig 'em!

My daughter is trying to get into A&M and we live in Massachusetts (I'm originally from Southeast Texas and have family there still). She's about a 3.1 GPA student. We are unsure if she'll get in after we apply this fall. We thought schools typically like when students from other states apply to represent their school as a more national rounded brand. We do have a cousin who graduated from A&M but unclear if that helps or not. Much like you, I think my daughter is a natural Texan.

Texas A&M has been my dream school for a long time. I have a 4.65 weighted GPA out of a 5.0 and a 4.0/4.0 unweighted GPA. My school is extremely competitive, so I might not in the top ten percent. I’m a rising junior, so I have to wait a semester for rankings. This is what scares me the most, because most TAMU people get in by top ten percent, squeezing me out. On the PSAT I got a 1340/1520 and on the real thing, I’m gonna both study and hope for a 1450+. As a ninth grader, I did debate and robotics. In tenth grade, I began to graph desmos art. Basically, it’s art but it’s all equations. I entered my Saturn V in the desmos global art competition www.desmos.com/calculator/banpazjruf . I didn’t win, but I had fun. I plan on studying engineering. Do you think I’ll get in? What advice do you have? I’m really worried.
