Congratulations to Zoo Management graduate Sydney Smith, who’s already making strides in wildlife conservation! 🏆 Originally from the USA and now based in Germany, Sydney chose University Centre Reaseheath to pursue her passion, studying topics such as species conservation education with hands-on experience at the campus zoo. 🦒
Sydney’s research evaluated the Intrepid Explorers programme at Knowsley Safari, uncovering ways to make children’s conservation education even more impactful. Her work was so outstanding that she was awarded the Meredydd David Award for Academic and Technical Excellence at her graduation ceremony this time last week. 🌱✨
Sydney says her experience at UCR and presenting her research at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research have shown her the real-world impact she can make. Today, she’s designing conservation-focused lessons for youth on a military base and dreaming of further studies in conservation education.
