I think this game is one of the best terminator games because it shows you how desperate the human resistance was to find a way to defeat skynet but skynet stayed one step ahead of them
This was such a cool game, extremely underrated and I wish it'd get a modern remake. I grew up very poor so my dad getting me this on a Saturday evening back in 6th grade for $19.99 on sale for the PS2 had me feeling like a kid in a candy store ecstatic, I was a huge Terminator fan since seeing T2 back in 1st grade staying up late on a school night watching it on the VCR lol
I remember when this game was new. Just the front cover of the game had me somewhat uncomfortable, even though i loved/love the first two movies. Like someone else said, the plot and game itself had such a dark doomsday (obviously) feeling to it, and the levels where designed to make you feel unsafe. Especially that level when Kyle is in the skynet lab, and where he (or perhaps it was Luna?), ends up having to kill a terminator...pure horror to me as it crawled around chasing you. The other level that really stands out to me was the last one where you're attacked by proper looking terminators everywhere.
I remember the city levels with Luna and having to kill those big spider terminators and then the boss fight with the infiltrator where he crawls after you
TheNocturnal Yeah it did but it just fell apart by the 3rd act. I do appreciate it for being unique from the other films though including Dark Fate. It’s heart was in the right place but it was just executed poorly. If only they focused more on Conner and Reese instead of Marcus, it would’ve been better.
I love the way they had captured the Terminator. If you watch the films and then the way the Terminator reacts and moves in this cutscene, it's almost identical. Utterly amazing. I wonder why the other terminator games couldnt be this good?
Terry Price this should've been Terminator 3. They could've brought back Michael Edwards, the actor who briefly played old John in T2. That guy looked so badass
I love this game. Its lots of fun and got the great Terminator atmosphere that makes you feel like your in the war of the future against Skynet. Best Terminator game ever and very underrated.
...and now Dark Fate. Oof. I liked Salvation though, good to finally see the Future War, even if it was only the early years and before the T-800s really started to emerge.
idk if the people who made this game still make games they should remaster this because its a really good game and i didnt get to finish it yet, and they could ake the game 1080 without the stupid camera angle and remake the endos because they kinda look stupid but other than that its a good game and reminds me of older resident evil games
i remember i use to play this game. i loved it at the time. but looking back, i realize how much i hated when the camera would constantly switch angles, it gave it a cinematic feel, but it was impossible to go anywhere without getting lost.
Aside from the error in the year and the '30 years' quote, I feel that this game still happened in the continuity for Terminator 1-4 and Battle Across Time (if you ignore Genisys and Dark Fate)
This game was released before T3 in 2002, before all the bullshit storyline that judgment day started in 2003, so the 30 years quote was right, since in T2 it begun in 1997, and this game happened in 2027. Way before T3 and Salvation, respecting the first two movies.
I remember this game! I played it over and over, it was the best Terminator game ever. Always loved using Kyle and Luna. Perry, with his R-6 PAK rocket pistols, wasn't so tough. XD
Actually Paradigm were denied the Arnold Swarzerniggr likeness licence which is why he is not in the game. There is an interview somewhere with him saying why he didn't do video games because they could never get his likeness right. That changed when he did T3: Rise of the Machines.
"Who else thinks that this game's story should be the next Terminator movie? (Journeying to Skynet and getting Reese to the time machine) It could and should be done, there's a lot of potential.
Still like this game, perhaps the best of Terminator games made to date. It has that post apocalyptic feel to it that is established in first two movies.
best storyline of any terminator game by far... salvation had a cool intro as well but this was the grim future ran by cold steel perfection i always wanted to see in a game or all out movie.. been waiting 10 plus years.. i'll wait till im so pissed i finally decide to go to school for it dammit
in terms of story, this was probably the best terminator game they ever made. the characters and voice acting combined with a nice non canon future war plot really did a nice job of tying of the films as a sort of prequel to it all.
It's just the main Terminator theme played on the violin. If you search youtube for "terminator theme" you'll come across it in multiple formats(remixes and such).
I love this game.. and that robot that came in the lab looks so scary.. the first time i played this game and saw him i cried cause i was 9 i am now 13 :)
I still remember the tv commericals for this game back in 2002. Shows live real people walking on a blvd, one person gets hit by a car and just gets up like nothing at all, then a voice says..."feels no pity,no pain and will not stop...coming soon for Playstaion 2".
The only gripe I had with this game was the camera angles.Other than that,it was about the best Terminator game I've ever played.I still say they should do another one like this, but make it a sandbox style.
oh man chapter 8 "infiltrator" where you fight the Terminator in the hood with the huge gun? that was my favourite level, and each time you get his health down to 0 he just got all of it back and went to a different "form" the second form was cool, where he's lost the hood and gun because when you got him down to half health he face was blown away showing more endoskelaton.....sorry if I rambled...good memories
Doing a Terminator game primarily set in the future which is loosely based on the Movies. using projectile Weapons and early stage Plasma weaponry would be awesome, Battling older machines, like the T400 through to 600 and even a few T-800s in later levels. Maybe even have a chance to play as a Terminator that has been reprogrammed, that'd be epic, maybe show different skin sheaths other than the 101 arnold skin, maybe also loosely put in some Sarah Connor chronicles in there, play as Cameron
dam right they knew. PS2 has the best line up of games out of all platforms. Its a time where the gaming industry took off and were filled by people who had a passion for video games, these days investors, Hollywood screenwriters, Hollywood animators are all over the industry... sigh....
Someone should stop the leaders from deactivating Skynet, be reliable of teaching and raising the intelligent computer like a child it needs to be taught how to be good. Anybody watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles last week and notice Captain Perry make an appearance? It takes place some time after the battle at the end of this game - during which he seems to have lost a bit of weight and gotten a few shades darker in skin tone. I hope we end up seeing Luna and the Stone brothers in this show.
This intro has that feeling and ambience of Terminator 1 and 2 that all fans of Terminator wants to see. Loved the storyline too. The only think that bothered me was that the Terminator wasn't the "Arnold model" and maybe the soldiers outfits. But everything else was epic. And talking about the movies,T3 was crap, TS was a very good movie but I think Cameron should take Terminator again and make a new movie a REAL sequel ignoring T3 an TS as well.
They seriously, some team must think about remaking this game! Updating it and maybe change the story a bit, but overall an amazing game! Highlight of my gaming childhood, hands down!
@legendarywar1 this game does serve as a official prequel to the films but the films are the alternate timeline in the Terminator universe originally John Connor was never warned about Judgement Day he was never trained for the war and was never protected by The Terminator he began the Resistance on his own and when he learns that Skynet plans to go back in time to kill Sarah Connor to change the future, thats when the films come in as John explains in the games intro
Even in 2021 this is one of the best game intros.
I think this game is one of the best terminator games because it shows you how desperate the human resistance was to find a way to defeat skynet but skynet stayed one step ahead of them

This was the first Terminator game I've ever played & even till this day, it's still one of the best titles in the franchise.
This game is already better than T:genesys will ever be.The intro alone just pulls you in and doesn't let go.
Is it bad that I remember this intro cutscene more fondly and more memorably than anything past T3.
No...silly question, it isn't bad.
Why can't someone make THIS as an intro to a Terminator movie?
It's a game and it's a really good one if you don't mind it being a bit clunky. I agree that the game should be made into a movie.
They tried with Salvation and it unfortunately sucked.
@@siddharthsehgal2349 didn't have this kind of plot or settings though.

This game would have been perfect if it had had a better camera.
I know. This one time I was trying to see but there was an object in front of me and due to my camera angle, I couldn't see.
I still enjoy this game from time to time but I agree. The camera angles were horrible.
If it was completely free 3rd person it would have been amazing. They should remake it and fix the issues
I would honestly love to see this game Remade in a modern Game Engine like Unreal 4.
With modern game mechanics
It would be amazing
Most under-rated game of all time.
I love the way they had captured the Terminator. If you watch the films and then the way the Terminator reacts and moves in this cutscene, it's almost identical. Utterly amazing. I wonder why the other terminator games couldnt be this good?

Everything shits on Terminator Genisys.
...and now Dark Fate. Oof.
I liked Salvation though, good to finally see the Future War, even if it was only the early years and before the T-800s really started to emerge.
T3 was the lesser of the three evils.
The intro to this game really did capture the essence of the first two movies.
I love this game! Now if they made this for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 & Xbox One this game would be bad ass with today's graphics.
Also make it a FPS so that we don't have to tolerate those annoying camera angles.
+Volorus To'Rak (thetricker01) kinda like mirrors edge, so we can still do melee combat just like in this game

the music was scary as hell in some levels.
I wish terminator salvation was based on this storyline.
Last terminator movie should be an epic battle movie.. The final battle between man and machines and the fall of skynet
"if they only knew what I knew"

i love that scene when terminator appears on slowmotion,

This game and SkyNET and Future Shock are the best Terminator games. 10/10 baby
also Fear Factory did music for this game \m/
what is sky net
A really old FPS of Terminator's future war where you work as Tech Com to stop Skynet from ending us all for good with another ballistic missile.
T3 Redemption was good as well imo
At 2:27 pretty much tells us how Kyle Reese got away in terminator 1.
God I miss this game

that game it rocked.
Thanks for the memories bud

Slick Rebel actually we should be in a war for 18 years, because judgment day happen in 1997
WESKER terminator Negative. Judgement day happened at 6:38 PM at April 27, 2003, due to the events of the second movie.
If you think of it, the world is sort of becoming like skynet. Hovering/flying cars planned to be made, robots, there's already drones, etc.

Now if they got Michael Biehn to voice Reese and had Arnold's face for the Terminator, plus some themes from the movie then it would have been better
that would be bad ass. since technically this is the prequel and has the future combat everyone wants to see, it would kick ass as a movie.
I completely forgot about this game
this game was kickass i love it .)
This game should become a movie.
As far as Kyle knew. If the end cutscene is any indication, it's not over.
soo much better than salvation.
ive got this game on ps2 its great
this game was simply amazing.
Band of brothers meets terminator.. Now that would make for an awesome fucking series!
Skynet didn't seem to consider one thing, if it isn't John Connor leading the human resistance, it would just be someone else.
this is one hell of a great game
@dbzroxs: This game actually is taking place after the three movies. Watch the end of T3: Missiles flying everywher past each other. They run out of.
Game - 2027
Movie - 2029
Was that before or after Reese went through the timeline?
man this game is hard it took me weeks just 2 beat the loader on the fifth level.still a great game.i like the music in the levels.this game rocks!!!!

Kyle Reese is the most important character and he is mentioned once in the second movie and not at all in the third one
I agree.
Don't forget Alex Stone and his older brother Gabriel.
I think the reason for the date changes is the fact that at the end of T2 they delayed judgement day, which was confirmed in T3.
Justin Perry - " We're really gettin' pounded out there General Connor!"
