A look into the new driver app from Uber. It's practically your partner on the road
I had a great opportunity to bring in an Atlanta Driver Partner to my home office to speak about the new driver app from Uber.
It's a legitimate way to earn smarter on the Uber platform. There are several features, but the four that I really like are the following...
The Tracker: Easily track your progress toward your daily and weekly earning goals. You can also access your earning summaries with just a tap.
Trip Planner: See hourly trends, set preferences, and view promotions-all in one place.
Opportunity: Tap opportunities on your map to find more trips nearby, and ask the app to guide you there.
Notifications: Get messages about everything from upcoming events and earning opportunities to information about your account and new features.
I really like what the new driver app is doing for drivers.
The fact that it was built with drivers, for drivers is a very BIG DEAL.
The new driver app is OK, but why haven't Uber done anything increase your base and per-mile pay. I've been an Uber driver partner in Charleston SC since 2014 and been through two rate decreases. If you ask any veteran Uber driver partner, we are more interest in rate increase.

The Simple Driver thanks for the reply. I ended my night in a very not safe part of STL, would have passed no matter the surge amount.
It would be nice if that happened. maybe if you "earned" that privilege through time and high ratings. Would be awesome to actually know where you're going. I totally understand why you wouldn't want some drivers having this though - no short pickups etc.
It would be nice to have the surge areas shown in bright red again. Especially at night. It's still pretty slick aside from that.

The Simple Driver I actually kept my android phone on the old app. I didn't update just to be safe and test the water on my iPhone with the new app. I still use the old app sometimes - especially when surges vary within small areas.

I took your concept of making more money from one ride to another level... I understand this video was sponsored by Uber but video like these will kill your channel... You should still be yourself despite who is paying you, and making a review about reaching to find good things about the new app and not mentioning what is wrong with it is not cool and disappointing for your viewers... Videos like these will kill your channel... Interviewing uber executive and go little hard one them is acceptable to me... But making a review and talking about only the "pros" ... Is simply not cool...any sincere reviews about anything online you hear pros and cons and there are alot wrong with this new app... I respect you too much to give this video a thumbs down... So I'll simply will not give it any thumb...

I updated my app yesterday and i dont see any of these new features they are talking about ...
Here is an option Uber should have....Remember myspace and how they used to have a top 5 friends? You should have a feature where passengers can have their top 5 drivers. The technology is there because you don't pair drivers and passengers that rate each other below 3 stars. This would be reverse of that. It would make drivers step up their game and offer better service if they want to be in a passengers top 5. Also, some passengers would pay more to have a driver they know vs. rolling the dice every time. Make it happen Uber!!!!

just signed up for uber, looking to make bout 60+ a week! partime of course! I live in the snow belt of michigan! So most people don't like to drive in the snow especially the elderly! Hope i have a niche market, any suggestions sir?
I'm in San Diego and even though San Diego was not part of the test area, Uber still let me have these features. I like all of these features!

The new app sucks. It wasn’t needed.
The surge doesn’t refresh enough. You have to log off and log back on
The opportunity feature is a joke......how can there be “more requests than usual” coming from a specific area but there is no surge in that specific area. It doesn’t make sense.
Surge has NEVER been important to me or any of my 74,000 plus subscribers. I have NEVER produced content talking about how good surge is and i never will. There are so many other smarter ways to maximize your earnings on the Uber platform and SURGE is NOT one of them :-)

With rates being cut significantly, surge is how the difference is made up.

Nah, I think they did a good job because i actually published content showing drivers how to make money without these features 2 years ago. The fact that it's in the app now is wonderful. What exactly don't you like about the features?

You don’t drive so you don’t know that the new app doesn’t refresh properly. To get the surge areas refreshed you need to log off the app and log back. It becomes beyond annoying.
How can there be more than usual demand in an area but (new feature) but in that exact area there is no surge?

This Man is getting cheated! Thinking he is making money, but probably putting THOUSANDS of miles on his car and wife probably scared to say something. I advised everyone to not drive for these crooks at least ALL or only part time.

I hate that it doesn't show the pickup location before the GPS sends you on a loop to waste gas. Also wish that I can add a stop WITHOUT having to depend on the passenger to do it. Rider gets in my car and says to me "btw we are going to make a stop to drop off my friend but its in the same direction don't worry". He DIDN'T even add the stop in the trip so I end up taking directions to where his buddy was going only to wind up making an illegal u turn bcuz he wasnt even sure where his friend was going . So I tell Uber about the extra (friend) passenger and the stop and I was told that because I didnt really drive that many miles so its still the same fare. REGARDLESS, we should know where we're going and be compensated for anyone making extra stops in our car no matter if it didn't add much mileage. What if I had an accident for making that illegal u turn?... Will that extra rider who entered my vehicle be covered under the insurance? The guy doesn't tip me for risking my license and car (told me do a U turn) after the trip and slams my car door like a psychopath. I drive a 2018 Honda Accord Sport and the doors shut so easily. He slammed it like it was some old 60 year old car.

New app takes away driver control like having ability to update rider drop.of address or cancel uber eats delivery. You can't do those things anymore on New app.

Uber sucks. After expenses you are making less than minimum wage and taking huge liability risks.
But he doesn't see that! He drives MILES...and thinking he's making money, but is really not! This is not Full Time job!
