I believe it was Abraham Lincoln that said that owning your own property is the essence of freedom, but with property tax you never truly own your own property. If you refuse to pay, the government will take your land from you. We have to pay property taxes for the rest of our lives if we own our own home.
I don't even have property yet I think this is the worst kind of tax

@@dieglhix before losing the house, give it to one of your family members or give it to someone else that would take care of it. many houses that have the owner deceased never gotten demolished or taken away for some reason.

Yeah it means basically you are just slave like in old time back in Europe peasant if you will. Nothing changed you will be tied to system forever. You don't truly own anything, you don't have anything you are just basically being used so rich people who are sitting in politics can make more money on slaves.

@Pjayjay pretty sure roadways and other paths of travel are managed by our yearly vehicle tax/state registration? Why else would the weight of our vehicle make the price go up? Pretty sure it was to penalize owners of heavier vehicles contributing more towards road/bridge/infrastructure repair?

Some call it 'Land Tax' too. It's usually paid annually. While mortgage, homeowners insurance and bills ect. are paid monthly. Many homeowners take on a tenant or 2 even in a seperate investment/income multi-family property to cover property taxes, utilities & the maintenance costs for the upkeep of the asset.

A property tax is the worst tax as it prevents ppl from improving their property value that in America funds schools and stifles smaller businesses and makes it so that theyre not be able to expand their building.
