I used to live on Ramen cup of soup and jolt cola every weekend for 2 years. This was back in high school, everyday after school I worked in a dry clean from 3 until six and on Saturdays from 8 until 6. On Friday and Saturdays, I worked at a night club from 9pm until 4 am. Then on Sundays, I volunteered at my local ambulance Corp. (My mother was very big on community service- we could do what we want, but we had to give back to the community). So Friday until Sunday evening, it was Jolt to keep me running, and Ramen cup of soup because it was fast and I could eat it as I was walking from place to place. Oh how I wish I could keep up with my younger self.

I deposited in $100 in cash. The next day I went back and there was no record of the deposit. Luckily I had my receipt. The teller who obviously did not deposit the money kept looking over at me with the manager. Never saw him again...

I'm glad you had your receipt because had you not had that, you might not have gotten your money back
Also if you use online banking, get REGULAR screenshots of your account, and monitor them CLOSELY
NOT ALL banking apps allow screenshots, that's why you NEED ANOTHER device to take pictures of your screen for your records
If you have another device, use that if you can't take screenshots because your banking app disables it
If you can find an override somewhere in the software or maybe an app, you can also do that, because you NEED those SCREENSHOTS

I noticed a credit card transaction that was not legit 10 years ago. It was for $500. I called my credit card company and they reversed the transaction. But I kept on checking my account and noticed a small transaction that was not mine. I called the credit card company and the employee said that there was a note in the system that said "We are making up this transaction to compensate because we reversed an illegal transaction of $500." I said CAN YOU PLEASE REPEAT WHAT YOU JUST SAID?? And the employee said "nothing sir, no problem, I will reverse this transaction/" I said CAN YOU PLEASE REPEAT WHAT THE NOTE SAYS? and he said "Sir, don't worry, anything else I can do for you?" Be very careful because the banks and credit cards are not your friends.

Maybe and maybe not depending on what kind of people you have working there
We should follow the examples of the Secret Service, because we can all learn something from them:
If THEY can WEED OUT MOST people and NARROW it down to just a FEW good candidates who go on to be good workers, we can follow that example for other areas of trust and power

After I retired I needed a little income for spending money. Discretionary spending money. I lived in a small tourist town so I applied at BofA. It was the worst job I ever had. Trained with Monopoly money in a shoebox. Told I would be paired with an experienced teller at the bank when I reported. The bank tried to give me a cash box and put me on a window. I refused. They paired me with a temporary teller who told me he was just learning too. The pay was the lowest I had ever worked for. I liked the hours, 5 hours a day , sometimes two days a week, usually only one. After 6 months, I quit. I also moved my money to another bank. Our banks are run by criminals. The Fed is run by a mafia. Since 1913. It’s all a planned crime.

BOA is likely to be the first Wall Street bank to collapse. They are currently in a lawsuit for taking on a pier to pier outside payment system that customers lost money using. BOA refused to make good to the customers. They have been caught on other bigger wrongdoings only to get slapped on the wrists.

I rarely go to tellers anymore. I did last year (needed 20 dollars in quarters) and she saw my savings and had a surprised look. Since then i just use the ATM for any transactions. I was afraid these underpaid tellers might jot down account info and hand it over to friends who might steal. Yes its better to be paranoid than complacent in banking matters.

This is why this is why you should have some of your money in a different account
What you can do is keep most of your money in banks you DON'T visit, even ones outside of your area
Then pick a bank to keep just a small amount in, and why are only what you need from another bank
Personally I'd only do this per planned transaction and don't wire all of your money at once
What I personally would do is wait until all of my bills come out
Then let's say this week you need to go to the laundromat....
Wire only what you absolutely need from the further away account to the closer one, and then go get it and do your laundry
Let's say next week you need to pay someone for something you bought privately....
That next week , wire only what you need for that particular purpose so you don't have NOTHING extra in that account
So the idea is to keep small amounts in the bank you'll visit in person, even l rarely
Just pick a close enough bank, and only keep a SMALL amount of money in there
There's a little trick you can use if your account sits idle, you can keep it open by scheduling an annual transfer every year for the lowest amount possible
Keep the minimum amount in BOTH checking AND savings....
Every year they'll ping each other to stay open, as long as you leave the annual auto transfer in place
If you ever start using that account again, you'll just have to reset your debit card password if you want to use the ATM
If not, don't worry about your password, just resume right where you left off
I'll tell you another secret, you never know when you may find friends in the industry, that's when you'll periodically be able to learn all the perks they may have for their customers
When I had a friend who was the manager, I always knew of upcoming customer appreciation days
I always looked forward to coming in and seeing those I knew at the branch, and I even enjoyed the refreshments, especially when one of my friends made the punch
Sometimes I met new people through that friend, it was great and we had fun
She since moved on and left the branch, I just hope she's well along with everyone else who also eventually left and moved on

    • @0annonymous
      @0annonymous 17 днів тому

@selah4719 I don't know about that , ATMs are supposed to be secure as long as you're smart about it
I'm successfully used ATMs off and on over the years with absolutely NO problem WHATSOEVER, so what's the REAL problem?
I've had friends in the industry, and no one EVER bothers me if I ever use the ATM
That's because I MAKE SURE I go when NO ONE'S nearby
Plus, I'm NOT someone ANYONE wants to mess with....
When you use the ATM, just MAKE SURE you WAIT UNTIL your transaction has COMPLETELY CLOSED BEFORE leaving
When taking your receipt and waiting for your card to be returned, put away your cash as soon as you pick it up while you're still in front of the camera
When you get your card and receipt, also put that away while you're in front of the camera
That way, in case something does happen, it'll ALL be on video unless someone tampers with the video or that video recorder doesn't keep recordings beyond a certain point
They should be able to keep recordings overnight though, so do everything possible to stay in front of that camera until you put away your cash, card and receipt
If you come on a bike, keep your bike right there beside you because the idea is to hop and roll quickly away from the ATM as soon as you CAN
The idea of leaving quickly is so that you don't send off no unintended signals of tampering or loitering
Hopping your bike is much quicker than getting into a car, shutting the door, belting up, starting the engine, backing out and driving away
A bike is nothing more than hop and roll, so keep it right there WITH you for quick and easy convenience
The idea is to come and go quickly, as fast as the machine will let you move through a transaction from start to finish
Sometimes I DON'T really like using the ATM because they're JUST TOO SLOW
Although I do like the lovely lights on some of them, I really don't like how slow some of them might go when I try to do a transaction
It's much easier to do everything online then it is to try to do it at an ATM
I can go INDEFINITELY WITHOUT EVER carrying a dime, because I went DIGITAL YEARS ago
When I say I went digital years ago, what I really mean is I do my stuff online so I DON'T need to carry cash (UNLESS I'm paying someone for something I bought from them)
Other than that, no one will ever find a dime on me
One time I even had a situation come up where I was paying my housing cost for the month, and I was about $11 short and didn't even know that there was an adjustment in the cost....
So I guess I didn't get the letter and I got a call....
So what happened is the person THOUGHT I had cash at home, but I had to explain to them I don't even have pocket change because I keep it ALL in the bank, and absolutely NOTHING at home
So within a matter of days, the person got their money
When I sent it through the site, no more was ever said
I hope my experience helps, because I guarantee I can use the services with absolutely no problems WHATSOEVER
If you hit a snag somewhere, you have the power to FIX it FAST, because you MUST MOVE FAST

Data protection needs to get better. Maybe an immediate financial incentive to protect customers data. Like damages immediately paid to customer on top of any lawsuit for the cost to fix the customers credit. Since theirs always a prolonged lawsuit where it takes 3 or 5 years to get a judgment. They should have to pay penalties to the customer immediately and not anything poultry. Make it like 2k per customer per breach. And if money is stolen because of crappy banking practices or the failure of a companies app or service 2k per transaction damages minimum and an additional 2k damages for every 5000 stolen. Then see how many data breaches happen I bet they lock those databases down so quick it would make your head spin.

Going along with what you said about online statements, people need
to watch when they go to an ATM. Many ATMs, certain ones, display
a full-page statement of your account after the transaction. If the customer
does not wait and remove that statement, that information is there for
someone to read, at least for a short time. And people often leave their
paper receipts in the machine or on the ground, as well. That information
could be converted into profits for the bad guys.

Thanks, Dan. Another good video that I enjoyed. A few months ago, my bank initiated a conversation with me and advised me to change my bank card. It had become obvious to them that someone else, in another state, had somehow obtained my personal banking info and was using it for (large) purchases that I had Not authorized!! I thank God for my local branch who was on their toes, regarding this!!! I don't know if This will have anything to do wuth what I just mentioned or not, but occasionally, I will get a text message in regard to some outrageous toll bill that I have "run up"!! Realistically, I am: (primarily) a stay-at-home housewife who rarely leaves my home premises--partly due to my car being impaired. I think it's a scam about the toll charges! Anyways, have a very Happy New Year, everybody!!

    One Dan's best videos!
    1. yes there has been organized crime since the beginning of time. This means it is on YOU to be alert and active.
Let's talk reality. Brother-in-law opened an ice cream parlor. After working hard, he and his wife took a week's vacation, stand in manager stole $5,000. Child has warehouses of goods for sale. One person and only one person had a key when he visited. 70 computers stolen. Of course, the police are not equipped to handle these crimes.
A fast food franchisor trainer addresses an audience of multi-location franchise owners. Told you will hire 4 people for each position in your store in the first year. 20% of your employees will never steal from you. 20% will steal from you starting from the first day. As for the rest, it is a matter of chance and opportunity. Ok. Now you have heard it from the perspective of the entrepreneur. No amount of wage increases stops crime. No amount of laws stop crime.
I had a court clerk steal traffic infraction fines. It happens.
    2. It is the last few days of the year. Thank you Dan. The year end statements of all financial institutions are being printed out. The ones on line are saved. All of the weekly/monthly statements accumulated and not needed for tax purposes are being purged.
    a. I end up with less paper to store.
    b. I have continuing proof throughout the year as to what in an account as of a date certain. The Chinese hackers can hold the bank for ransom. The departing bank employee could have his revenge on the bank and destroy all of its backups. When the FDIC or similar alphabet insurance agency says "prove it", I go to the head of the line and get paid off before the other members of the public.
Dan frequently uses the terms "crazy" and "insane". It is new year's eve, 2024. To me "crazy" means inertia and not adopting some of Dan's suggestions in 2024.

  • @0annonymous
    @0annonymous 17 днів тому +2

It's odd that you brought this up because this happened to a friend's mom years ago, and years BEFORE it ALSO happened to ME
She was on Social Security and big chunks of her money was going missing regularly
He finally moved her OUT of THAT bank and into a BETTER one
Back then they charged a maintenance fee, and he helped me get out of a bank that was costing me too much, and he got me into a BETTER bank like he did his for his mom
Then I found an even better bank, so you just have to be aware of what different banks have to offer
IF they DON'T have you what you want, shop on
One time I was at a local bank when I first got out on my own and all I had was a savings account
I had $9 in that savings and needed some one day and the bank said they closed my account
Of course being on limited income, I loudly demanded to know what happened to my $9 that I had in my account just days before, and she said she didn't know
I think someone stole from me because I only had $9 left in that savings account, and money was tight for me since I was newly out on my own
Needless to say, I had to find another bank and if I did return, it was only for a time when new staff were most likely to be there and more trustworthy
Of course I've discovered other banks throughout the years, so maybe it's good to stay moving around every so often if you feel the need to do so
No matter what bank you use, don't keep all of your money in one spot if you can help it
If there's ever a breach or a downright theft, you can have a little bit of money in one or two extra spots

That's in Irvine, a 'better' neighborhood in Southern California. Lots of shopping centers, even bigger strip malls, have security personnel roaming around these days. The store Dan is at is in Orange County and the County has a D.A. that will prosecute low-level thefts. That attitude is expanding across California so hopefully it brings down the petty crime numbers.

When you visit them and they open up your account they can see everything, and when you leave many of them do not close down your file immediately. They still have access...that should not be allowed. Any records they need to put on they should do so in your presence and shut down everything before you leave

Paper statements are a bad idea. They can be stolen from your mail. And then somebody has your account numbers. And also they charge you to send out a paper statement now. That’s a new fee by the bank.

    • @0annonymous
      @0annonymous 17 днів тому

And if they don't steal your mail, they can still see your bank statement in your trash, even if you shredded it
So what you do is you shred the document and then scatter some of the document in one bag of trash one week , and then more of it in another bag another week and then keep doing that every week until it's gone
Or if you have hamsters or other caged animals that need bedding, you have free bedding from the shredder
When I had caged pets long ago, this was free bedding for pets
Making your own bedding saves money anyway, so make sure to make the BEST of it!
When you clean out your pets cages such as hamsters, rabbits and others, only remove what absolutely needs removed and leave the rest and add a little bit of new bedding
So the idea is only remove the dirtiest bedding, spread what's left into the toileting area and then add new bedding where they sleep and play
NO ONE will WANT to mess with those documents when caged pets are done with it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤣🤣

I don't like electronic statements but are mail service has become unreliable , seems to go in streaks, went two weeks without any mail, I set up a ring camera at the mail box recording the mailman just driving Past our house, went to the post office , filed a complaint, had our mail held as the problem was investigated, advised an investigator would contact us, nothing, had no choice but go email / electronic for statements and any important communications

I think that's the MAIN idea is to push us to go DIGITAL....
It's better if you do it early though so you don't have to be pushed into it later
There's even some seniors who WON'T come up to the Modern Age, they'll have to eat our dust as we race forward into the future with improving technology
Technology is always improving with development to make things better and better
I'm not saying I may necessarily agree with everything they do, but there are also a good number of GOOD things to help make our lives EASIER
I'll tell you though, banking has come a LONG way
There's nothing like being able to have your bills come out automatically on your behalf while you stay in bed or do other things
I remember one of the first times I was taking a summer trip somewhere and thinking how nice it was that my bills are already taken care of while I do other things
I'd rather have it THAT way than the old ways
Bills can come out while you're doing other things, EVEN sleeping
Having everything done automatically is far better than having to go out in bad weather, especially if you don't have a car
At least you KNOW the computer's working FOR you while you do other things

That's because they're pretty much over a barrel with no Vaseline
It seems to me like businesses prey on our needs and price everything Out Of Reach
I just can't wait until Jesus comes back in case you don't know how he had to cleanse the temple when it became a den of Thieves instead of a House of Prayer
If you think him cleansing the temple was bad, wait until entire masses of buildings topple when he CLEANSE S the LAND!
We don't know this will happen, because we don't know the day or our the Lord WILL return
One thing we can pay attention to though is to notice how the Book of John says he'll raise his people at the last day....
When he raises his people at the last day, he must mean the last day in world history just by the way he describes the end time line of events in his word
Pay attention to Revelation and then go over to the Book of John and you'll see what I mean
For the elects' sake though, he's going to SHORTEN the days, or no flesh will be saved, (which sounds to me like no one will survive 🤔)
