me too having this model little more clean condotion ..in junk yard , but now will restore it.. ! I have one question you washed circuit board in running water , & other parts ..does it safe ? does it didn't harmed motor..?
@@SethiSahib Never use ordinary tap water to clean motors and transformers as it may cause corrosion of the internal windings which can either cause an eventual short or go open. For circuit boards, you should use professional cleaners (available from most hardware stores) and a soft brush - not water. Water + electronics = long-term damage/failure.

I grew up with Sony products as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s they were very reliable. I miss those ole school boombox
I must admit I was a bit shocked when I saw its innards getting a soaking, but it certainly didn’t seem to cause any lasting damage. A great restoration and certainly a lot ore interesting than some of the tool restorations I’ve seen.
Here's a BELIEVABLE restoration that doesn't start with the unit being found along a riverbank, sprayed with suspiciously
colorful mud.
Wow, that takes me back to my youth. This was the first boombox had. My parents bought it for me when I around 9 or 10 yrs old for my birthday. This boombox went everywhere with me for years. This was a great little radio for what what it was. Nice job on the rebuilt. I'm a little jealous right now.

Man thank you for bringing an old school radio back I miss them radios.
To adjust the head without proper equipment: make sure you play a stereo tape but connect left and right together to make the playback mono. Then adjust the head. The sweet point is much smaller then and when all the highs in mono are there return to stereo and enjoy. Works fine every time.

Fabio SASSO at work we put PCBs in our ultrasonic cleaner with demineralized water and heated to 60 centigrade for a couple of minutes and rinse with denatured 94% ethanol.
We calibrate, service and repair our armed forces sensory and opto-electronics.

This guy is a genius! Why has no one else ever thought of washing electronics with water. I think I'll take my old Revox reel to reel with me into the bathtub tonight and clean it. Just bloody brilliant!!!
Don't do that. A reel to reel has many more precision metal parts that might trap the water and build up corrosion, unlike those cheap stereos where virtually everything is made from plastics.

People have weird ideas. Water will not hurt most electronic components when powered off, but it can be very bad for mechanical and electromechanical parts if you're unlucky.

Alot of people are commenting on the use of water to clean the boards. This isn't a problem as long as the boards are dried well and quickly. Tektronix esed to power wash oscilloscope for overhaul, after removing wound parts.

Like the restoration! Glad you took out those fake tweeters! They don't do much highs anyway! I was wondering if you were gonna do the head alignment! Not much to it by ear just listen for the sweet spot! Again nice job!

Great job, as someone pointed out, the Sony logo in gold or silver would be nice. Boards washed with water, well.. it may leave residues and provide paths for shorts. Distilled water at least to reduce risks.

Mình không hài lòng model này ở chỗ mấy sợi dây kết nối giữa các bản mạch, nó không có jack tháo rời mà hàn chết nên mỗi lần tháo ra sửa nó vướn víu rất bực

Desmantelar y lavar la tarjeta electrónica tanto el transformador que lleva dentro es incorrecto ten cuidado nunca se lava con agua
mi recomendación es desmontar la grabadora agarrar una brocha no muy gruesas limpiar con cuidado y volverla a montar nunca lavarla con agua se puede prender fuego o electrocutarte severamente
