I wish more chefs from this show agreed to be on Culinary Class wars. Would have loved to see Lee Yeon Bok, Mikhal, and Sam Kim. I wonder if they were afraid lol
Some of them prob were afraid since it’ll be embarrassing if they lost and ruin their image. Considering the state of the Internet these days, I can’t blame them, people criticize over the dumbest things. But I would say pride is a huge factor too. Lot of these chefs are masters of their craft and have decades of experience and were even judges for competitions themselves. Go up to a master, tell them clear their entire schedule for months to go compete for a useless title to prove you’re number one. They’ll probably scoff and laugh. Like Why go through the trouble when they already know they’re among the best. Also lot of these competition shows are exhausting, hours upon hours of loooong shoots. It’s not like they need more TV coverage to spread their branding and become popular when they already are.
But I honestly would’ve loved to see Lee Yeon Bok in the show though. Would’ve been funny to have a chinese cuisine showdown again xD

I have no doubt both are skilled chefs but both really cant compete against the heavyweights in Hong Kong. Chef Lu's taste is Fujianese which can be very bland for judges who have scoured every nook and cranny of Chinese cuisine.
