Don't put sand! Everyone with a big pond is always sorry that they put sand. Just put some nice rock and wood scape in the center with some caves and leave the blue bottom. Ask Rod, he was sorry when he tried it too.
No sand! Use your creativity with center piece and whatever you like best! You always make wonderful creations and it’s a pain to wash so much sand when you could just not 😆 can’t wait for the finished project!!!
Don't do sand, just do some drift wood and a cave in the middle, probably put some grip pads under so it doesn't scratch the gel or slide. Look's so cool, I've been watching sence backyard pond days, I live in Jupiter area and your such a big inspiration, can't comprehend your hustle, keep it up :)
@@cooperjaskot3631 no disrespect dude. But if you owned exotic fish like these, I doubt you'd be saying that. Sand sucks to clean, and can hold fish poop and uneaten food which can unbalanced ammonia levels in the water. In a smaller pond or tank maybe. But you really don't want to deal with it on this scale. Plus it would make the water cloudy for weeks unless you rinse it all, which if you've ever rinsed sand you know what a nightmare it is on a small scale, let alone hundreds of pounds of it.
Hey Paul, been a silent viewer ever since i found your cannel (Since the OG Backyard time) And i just wanted to say that your time and dedication for each and every single video has payed off..!! Iam glad that i was introduced to one of the greatest channel of all time... Keep up the good work... 🥰
Absolute BANGER!!! Your an amazing friend and person man! Gonna put out our video up in a few minutes.. thanks so much again. Happy early birthday and Pacu coming soon!
Hi Paul! I've seen people using heavier types of sand for ponds like this, so it wont cloud the water all the time. This could be an idea, cause the ordinary sand will definitely make a mess.
I think sand would mess with the clarity a lot and I think that just a bunch of driftwood with some plants would be really good looking. No sand is my vote but I’m sure it would turn out amazing whatever you choose!
Don't to sand. Just do something nice to cover up the ground like driftwood for the fish to go in. It would be cool if you could put a couple fake lily pads in there. That would give the fish some cover if they get scared of something (people). I've been watching for a few years now and you've been doing great with all of your animals. I also live on a farm a lot bigger that you, but you do a lot more with your home. I have a lot of horse pastures for my horses. Keep up the amazing work and have a great day.
You should put sand rocks and wood to give it the real feel of a lake you just have to be careful with the filter, so it doesn’t take sand in or have a sand filter
No sand! I think it would look amazing with a big center piece as decor with the blue bottom. Sand would get stirred up and make it cloudy as you said. This is going to look so good once you get it all done. 🔥
Dude I'm a grandma I have a grandson almost your age and I just love watching your channel I watch all the time I don't usually comment but I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your energy and your personality and your humor and all your buddies too especially Camp Keenan my favorite dude you guys are really awesome thank you for entertaining this old lady up here in Eastern Washington we got 30 inches of snow

Having a double layered sand will be good.. coz it looks good... It gives all the fish a natural habitat inside the pond. Please have the sand inside new pond paul.
Don't think it's a good idea to put sand in this massive pond Paul I guess you should leave it without sand look awesome. And thank you for making our day while uploading video you're the first one I checked every morning I wake up ❤️ Much love
Wood and rock center island with live plants coming out of the water. Any substrate is gonna be a huge hassle with that big of a pond. Just a huge centerpiece with live plants all over will be gorgeous.
Ask Rod (Predatory Fins) and Kevin about the sand. I remember Nick Bingo talking about why he doesn't use sand in his big tank. Sand would definitely look cool but what effect will it have on the health on the fish and water quality?
Hey Paul, nice to see the old farm and the 4000 gal. tank looks great. Nice of You to contribute the fish. Look forward to seeing the Albino Pacu in your new tank. I think sand is a great idea, but first put in wood and rocks so the entire bottom isn't sand and it'll break it up so the fish can have places of their own. I'm particularly glad to see Brenten there since some of your all-time videos have been with Brenten. He always adds that nice touch of craziness into your videos, making them even better. Not to say yours aren't great on their own, but with Brenten, You just never know what will happen next. Thank You, as always Paul, for sharing & say Hello to Brenten & Jaquan from your longest-winded commenter. Also to any viewers who aren't Members, I suggest You do so whenever You can. Well worth it. Merry Vlogmas!
Brenten really read my mind from last video, I was thinking white sand would go AMAZING with the blue and black walls and make the fish more visible, you can always count on paul to upload an absolute BANGER of a video.
maybe some nice small white rock or little white pebbles would be cool and easier to take care of maybe? I can't wait until you fill it up with your fish and/or new fish!
Ive been watching you since u had the first pool pond in the old house its crazy how far u came proud of u paul n love the videos havent missed one in so long i really wish i could come out an hang out with u n brenten id love that ive been watching since i was 15 or 16 n i just turned 19 you guys are my favorite youtubers yall are hilarious an i love animals i feel like we got so much in common its crazy but keep up the good vids bro
Sand looks great especially to those who watch your videos from home and don’t have to worry about maintenance. But to us aesthetically it looks like monster fish swimming in the ocean
Don't do sand if anything try looking for some rocks that are natural to your area. I just started my first small tank for a few minnows (I know cute haha) and I used some rocks that are native to my local lake and I'm very satisfied with the way it turned out just be sure to rinse them very thoroughly to get any debris off of them or it will be just as bad as the sand when you first start using it after that it's perfectly fine haven't had any issues after a couple washes
No sand! Sand will make it harder to keep clean as well. Keep it bare so you can throw a pool vacuum down there and just vacuum the bottom when it gets dirty 😅
i think no sand! I read somewhere it could hold possible bacteria that could harm ur fish! I think just the perfect center piece! not an expert but Just want to say something! Super excited about the pond been following for awhile now!
Love the videos I agree with the one comment don't do sand just do drift wood that wood make it alot better sand would just stir up the water in ur pond
Part sand for your NEW STINGRAY !!!! Can make a row of rocks in like 1/4 of the pond and put the sand in there so the stingray has a place to do its thing. Of course rocks and stuff..hiding places and decor
Your ponds, tanks etc are all looking and coming along really well! Should Collab with Will Nace & on your next tank build have him build you one that house's both fish and a snake/lizard/amphibian in the same set up.
Don’t put sand, it’s an insane breeding ground for parasites and they love it. Nick has also said something about it as well in one of his videos too. I think some kind of nice layering with some kind of rock you can scape with would be awesome! My favorite part of scape and decoration of the whole tank/enclosure build.
Maybe instead of putting sand, painting the bottom a sand color could be some kind of an idea to fake a sand bottom pond. I know it’s too late for that now 😆 but I think it could be a cool trick for some future projects 😁!

I vote yes for sand! The only thing with sand is the need for some giant Cory Dora or whatever giant tank cleaning fish you can find! You also need some giant caves and plants to help the tank stay clean longer!! 😊
Ps please don’t use real wood..they got that fake wood stuff you could get a great stump and add big holes in them for fish tunnels. Get those cinder blocks and you can place whole plants in pots on top for more water cycle for the fish!
Paul I really think the pond would just look so much better if you put rock in it instead of sand like river rock and make a rock shelf on one side with some drift wood in the middle and spread out I think that would look so cool
No sand! A big piece of drift wood would look so good! I love love love everything you are doing at the farm and fish room. I’ve been watching for years! I’m amazed at all you have accomplished!
A sand bottom will help cycle faster, but long term it becomes a detritus trap which means more water changes. If you have a bare bottom with good flow, your filtration can pull 100% of detritus out of the water.
I think you should put in sand way you maybe can get a soft shell turtle and stingrays. And your fish will be happy because for sleep in sand in the wild
I think you should totally do the sand. I think it would just make it look to man made and not like in the wild if you didn't. It would definitely be worth it even if it was foggy for a little while.

Hi Paul, don't do sand. The pond looks great as it is and definitely needs something in the middle xXx
It looks the same as nick bingos and will continue to look the same with just something in the middle

I think you should do sand and add a massive tree in the middle with wood and plants throughout. love your videos Paul 😃
yes plants
Don’t think sand is a good idea as it will hold a lot of nitrates and a lot of cloudiness will ensue.
i reallly like this idea to a questin are you an aqua scaper

You're right! I also think you shouldn't add sand because it comes with problems like bacteria and diseases. (Nick had it to)
White sand will be so cool 🤩👍
Awesome job. I believe just leave it blue no sand. The blue will make the fish pop
