I was able to edit an hour and a half video down to 35 minutes. I was able to move clips around, add titles and transitions, all thanks to your very clear instructions. This is my first time trying to do anything like this. Thank you so much!

The best Beginners Guide to IMovie I've seen. However, its fast so Kayla can include the features, I watched it twice. The 2nd time I used the PAUSE button and then wrote the feature she just explained into my note Pad. If confused I backspaced and played it again. You can slide the arrow below to any part of the presentation. She speaks fast but she clearly explains each feature. KAYKA you mentioned I could ask a question. Unless I missed it: When you add music, voice over, etc to you strip what do you do to the original audio on the strip to mute it? IE Original music.or voice over. How can you mute the strip to insert your feature. Great great video. I subscribed & look forward to your next lesson.

Thank you so much for this! As a newbie, I had no idea where to begin. I followed along as I worked and by the end of your tutorial, I had finished my first project. 😁

It would be nice to see the actual outcome of the editing in the moments you edit them so I could get some kind of semblance of what you are explaining.

Thank you so much. This is what I’ve been looking for. You helped me figure out how to make the clips bigger so I can see what I want to cut out. I’ve been looking for this for a couple of days now and in all the other videos they never show you this part, thank you for showing this part. Really appreciate it. Take care and have a nice day. 😊❤

Nice video. I learned a lot. 🙏 - one note. you refer to handles as toggles in the video. If it slides it's a handle. if it turns on and off it is a toggle. Thanks!

Thanks for this tutorial. I've watched several beginner's tutorials on iMovie, I feel I got the most out of your's. You took your time and were very clear on explaining the different actions of editing, and how the actions were executed. Thanks again.

This is so helpful thank you! I just started using iMovie last week to make videos of my products. I’m pleased that at 64 I managed it pretty well. I should have watched this first though! I now have answers to all my questions, like “who the hell is Ken Burns?” 😂 I can come back to this now to improve. You are a fab teacher!

Once you save your video to files, what do you do in order to start a NEW project & start editing another video? If that makes sense. Just erase everything? Or how can you get started to edit another video?

  • @yusaletv

I want to start posting on UA-cam. I could use my phone to record. Especially because I will be barley starting off, so there isn’t any need to start all professional. But also because I can’t afford a camera right now… but I have full storage on my phone. So that has stopped me from starting. But I did think of something… I could maybe buy a used phone (cause it’s cheaper), then I will not sign into iCloud (because then that phone will have full storage as well). So don’t sign into iCloud right…And then I want to use my Mac to edit the videos. Okay, but how would I transfer the videos (on the phone that isn’t signed into iCloud) onto my Mac, so that I could edit them? So sorry for this long explanation. But if you happen to know or maybe have a solution to this, that would mean so much!!! Thank you!!

    • @Patrick462

      Check out ua-cam.com/video/FPDZWZjk1X0/v-deo.html
This is from Mac Video Magic, "Make iMovie Even More Powerful With This One Simple Trick!" (Pre-rendering to mimic having >2 video tracks). The basic idea it to setup the video with 1 picture over your video. Then render that out to a file (using File > Share or the weird box-with-an-arrow-pointing-up on the upper right). Then start a new project, and use that file as input (it will take up only the video track). Then add your second picture over the rendered video you just exported-then-imported.

@@Philipk65Well there are some old NWA Wrestling from the early 80’s (Jim Crockett Promotions) videos on UA-cam that I’ve saved a couple of years ago to External Hard Drives that has old 80’s commercials that I would love to edit out of these videos. The second reason why I want to do this is for the practice on how to edit video. The third reason is I want to take these Wrestling videos that are in 480p and run it through Topaz Video AI and upscale them to either 4K and or 8K.

Hi....first off, I love your accent. Ok, so a question about background audio/music. Lets say you are filming a video at the gym and you can't use the music the gym is playing in your video but you still need certain audio like yourself talking to the camera. Does imovie do a good job of cutting out that backround music or do you need more advanced software? If so, what domyou recommend? I'm trying to avoid too many voice overs. Thanks, great video!
