      @@TheNaturalNailGuru so an overlay is not a good idea then do you recommend a strenthener or hardener so I can grow my nails out? I have extremely thin peeling nails that won’t grow but I want to grow them longer because of how short and fat they are to make them look feminine! I know I have a vitamin deficiency and iron and other things due to an eating disorder as well as I think because I have really dry skin from sjogren’s (a dry skin disease I have) I’ve started taking biotin and iron what recommendations do you have?

    Would topcoat or nail hardner help? Or would that make it worse

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  3 роки тому +8

      Topcoat would just create a seal around it for a little bit and nail Hardner I would generally stay away from when you have peeling nails or already brittle nails because the nail Hardner could definitely contribute to the problem and it definitely won’t make it go away. If anything just like putting a topcoat it’ll just create a little seal around it but the chipped layered part of nail will still be there and it would still continue.

    What about peelable polishes... base coats & such... what's the best way to remove these?

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 роки тому +4

      I would always just use acetone however the polishes that are peelable are really made to be able to do that without damaging the nail plate so unless you see nail lifting with the product when you’re peeling it you can totally go ahead and do that 😉

      Andrea's Crafts & Nails if you were my client a proper manicure pushing the cuticles back the right way and keeping your nails short and round it is what I would do to promote healthy nail growth. And if you’re not already taking a multivitamin then I would definitely start doing that as well peeling nails usually have to do with out diet and is something we can easily get back on point. Also make sure you are not peeling gel product off of your nails because it keeps them
      Weak! But keep pushing those cuticles back and keep your nails short and rounded let’s get healthy nails to grow !!

    I have kinda thin and definitely peeling nails. Honestly the buffing terrifies me 😔. I just got my uv led lamp and will be purchasing gel nail polish soon (so beginners recomendation from Amazon are much appreciated too) but the idea of buffing scares me. I did dip powder and the nail tech filed the surface of my nails so much (I guess because the technique was new in my country ) and getting them back to health is taking so much effort. Ayuda!!!! Please advise 🙏

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 роки тому +6

      andreailj most nail technicians do not buff the nails they file it with an abrasive file or the electric files which severely sent out the nail plate. You should be using a soft cushion buffer with 180 grit. And this is just to smooth out the surface of the nail you do not need to buff a lot or hard. In the meantime I would push cuticles back regularly and keep your nails short we need to promote healthy nail growth and get rid of the week now but we need to keep them short until we get stronger nail growing to the tip. And make sure that you’re not peeling any product off your nails because that will make the thinning worse

      Generally has more to do with internal nutrition could be a vitamin deficiency excess of vitamins change in medication starting new medication and things like that. If you don’t take anything I would consider taking a good general multivitamin and if you’re taking a lot of vitamins or taking something currently then maybe change it up or simplify.

    I have issues with lifting on the free edge. Any tips on why or what to do to stop it from happening???

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 роки тому +5

      Without looking at your nails and knowing how the process is done I’ll ask that you check to see if you get a lot of little cracks on the tips of your nails or the corners. If you see a lot of cracking on the tips of your nails and edges through the gel and that means that you need to be easier on your nails. They are banging into stuff bending and although gel is flexible it will crack and once that happens water and stuff will get in there breaking up the polish. And I would recommend keeping your nails shorter and more round to minimize them banging into things and bending meanwhile just got to be more aware of your nails and be extra cautious. If you have no cracks on the nails whatsoever and the polish is still splitting my next guess would be the nail prep not done properly. Make sure you are not soaking your nails and water and make sure before you polish that the nail plate is buffed smoothly all the way around the edges. And make sure that basecoat and topcoat are coding the entire Nail especially the free edge do you want to make sure that topcoat is sealing all the leaders that have already been put on. And with every manicure don’t touch your nails that causes more lifting than a lot of other things so stare at them from a far but don’t pick touch or rub them because that won’t help. I hope this was somewhat helpful but more videos will be coming in regards to why polish does it last and why polish lift things like that😉

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  4 роки тому +2

      ChristianGyrl 3 in my experience things like that usually have to do with nutrition so it is possible that maybe she’s lacking some vitamins or too much of something that isn’t necessarily good and with kids it’s hard to keep them on a really healthy balanced diet. I would probably get a children’s multivitamin be consistent with her taking it to see whether or not it makes any difference. I wouldn’t say it’s really anything to be seriously concerned about and something that can go away very easily but if the condition worsens I would definitely talk with her pediatrician or maybe a dermatologist but again I really don’t think it’s anything serious usually just a nutrition issue ;)

    Should I stop using nail hardener? Is that making it worse?

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  3 роки тому

      Neil hardeners can be tricky as some of them are extremely strong and really depends on the sensitivity of your nail plate. With that said no Nail Hardner should be used for long periods of time it’s usually something that you’re use 1 to 2 weeks at most. If you’re using a nail Hardner regularly I would definitely recommend to stop using it for a little bit if anything just keep a regular clearcoat. you should check out my video on a natural nail Hardner that you can make at home I posted it over quarantine. Get a clear polish empty a little bit out of it smashed up a bunch of fresh garlic shove it inside the polish and use that as your nail Hardner it is natural a little bit stinky but definitely will only help your nail not hurt it 😉

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  3 роки тому

      It is hard for me to be able to tell you exactly what’s causing it but in my experience nine times out of 10 it’s a nutritional problem whether you’re lacking vitamins taking an excess of vitamins or also the medication that you’re taking. Sometimes we can’t really do much about medication that we have to take but if you don’t take any medications at all then consider any supplements that you are or are not taking. If you’re not taking anything at all whatsoever than sometimes having a good multivitamin will make the difference and if you’re taking a lot of different supplements you might be taking too much. I wish I can give you more specific information but I can definitely tell you that the peeling issue is usually related to some thing regarding nutrition

This issue can definitely be health related due to medication vitamin deficiencies even stress but I would definitely recommend that you make sure not to put any damage on your nail plate by peeling product off or filing your nail plate. I would keep your nails short and rounded to prevent them from breaking as they grow out. And push your cuticle Back on a regular basis this will promote nail growth and strength.
