It effects an incredible balance, injecting sensitive, tasteful presentation into its most important moments, and quietly intriguing evocation (and off-color humor) in the moments in-between. But in spite of its incredible emotional punch, it lacks active conflict, and doesn't seem to know what to do with Brian after he makes it to Neil's town. And ultimately truth is the only satisfaction to be had for him.

Maybe he was just meant to be lost- this kind of abuse destroys people & they never recover or be who they should be- I think it was showing this & you just didn't get it.

this was a really good movie, i remember watching it as a teen and i thought it was well carried out. great casting too. and yeah i still remember how post 3rd rock, joseph gordon levitt couldnt lad a big gig. he also was in another indie gay film, latter days. he auditioned for the main character but he didnt get it, he only got a supporting role. i bet the director who said he couldn't pull it off is kicking himself in the ass lol considering how big joseph is now.
