      The CLASS ! that few Americans have have the good fortune to suck with their maternal milk ! Even 10% of the US upperclass can hardly display such an impeccable upbringing and poise ! He deserves the best chance of success in his endeavours within the FMI and above all the unrestricted collaboration of all the experts of good intention who will invest all their intelligence , their competence and their empathy in their highly useful tasks they have to address !

    A fine masterclass on what multilateral banks should be doing. Ajay Banga is not only a very intelligent and articulate leader, he is also a great teacher. In about 22 mins, I learnt enough of WB that no literature could provide. We need more leaders and teachers like him at the helm

    So well prepared - he knows his priorities! That matters most! None of it is rocket science but knowing it, communicating and getting buy in and then executing on it seems key!
    Mr. Banga seems rightfully the right person for the job! Never thought much of world bank leadership until now! Kudos sir!

    As much as we may have suspicions about the agendas of international political organisations like the World Bank, it is reassuring to see someone like Ajay with a strong moral compass at its helm and I wish him every good progress at making the world a little better. Thanks for the interview.

      He is not from Punjab . He was born in Poona Maharashtra. He was an Indian nationalist till 2007 when he moved to America and got American citizenship. He is not from Punjab but from Maharashtra.

      You see, the head of the IMF or World Bank needs to be very corrupt. That is the only way they can keep the 3rd world nations in perpetual debt. (BTW, the Chinese modeled their RBI on the model of the World Bank - keep everyone in perpetual debt.)
      And, Banga ji has a track record of being corrupt from his days at MasterCard! Ji Hai. Just ask Modi, who developed UPI to dethrone MasterCard and Visa (among others).

    This is the first time I have listened to Ajay, no wonder US hired this one in a billion person. I have no understanding of this arena, but he can communicate at a level that a normal person understands, and most of all what he is saying and doing is all practical. This is the only person I have come across makes so much sense...need billions more like Ajay Banga. I would love to work under him, even if I have to take a salary cut to make a real difference that matters. Ajay if you read this please respond.

    A student of Delhi University and MBA grad from The prestigious IIM Ahmedabad, he is the right person to Bring changes to the world order and finance. He knows the grass root issues better than any other elite western person who have only seen ac rooms and Lavish homes.

Just like US grants to Israel is a line of credit for their military industry and weapons manufacturing and Israel can't even look for other solutions as it's in the contract. Similarly, in Africa many lines of credits are given for Western companies. Plus, do you think Western governments do it only for charity ? Banga explained that donors look for returns of investment. I agree with your last part as an Indian living currently in Germany.

    What a refreshing interview from both the interviewer and interviewee. Interviewer asked great questions and gave the space to answer them while the interviewee heard the questions with humility and broke down everything in an easy time digest manner. Neither of them got into ego battles. We need more such leaders and more such journalists in the world!

    So grateful to exceptionally brilliant men like Ajay Banga for giving us glimpses into the workings of their mind. His thoughtful deep analysis/breakdowns of complex issues is a rare skill - one that he's honed throughout his career. He's also so humble (RESPECT) and communicates complex things so simply (a sign of how much domain expertise he has). I wish he taught a finance course. :) Credit also due to the World Bank for choosing this gem of a human being to lead them into the future.

      They learnt what the Brits taught to them but they themselves never practiced ! They added it up to their own rich traditions and became twice classier ! When will the US learn that Education ( and affordable Health care ) FOR as many citizens possible is the key to success and not Weapons fabrications ! Education and Health care are an national asset that will increase the national chess revenues and end up paying for themselves !

    To have faith in some journey is good thing, but to have knowledge about that journey is far far better. Ajay Banga's effort to convert faith to Knowledge is commendable effort.     27 Months !! bloody marvellous . Her in Australia it can take three years just to get approval from a Local Council to build a house .
