Honestly, I know people say Jay Z was murdered on his own song, but objectively, this really was Eminem's song and Jay was the feature, even though on paper it's vice versa. Em originally recorded the song with Royce da 59 and he had a message to send at the time, with critics on his back. The tone of the beat is synonymous with his message and the title (Renegade), essentially a rebel who was not going to be tied down or stop doing what he considered authentic to his nature due to critics. Jay heard the song and since he was having some criticism from the hood as well at the time, saying he abandoned the streets and the culture, he adopted it into his album. He literally did hop on a track that already had a heart and message of its very talented creator (Eminem) and, for anyone really, that's hard to beat. Bottom line, don't be too hard on Jay, think of it different
