Rowing, venetian style

Venetian style rowing is a very unique and particular style of leading the traditional venetian boats; unlike the “English” rowing style, the rower does not turn their back at the target direction, but faces it. The “forcola” is a special open oarlock and allows plenty of control. The row dips into water but never touches the bottom of the canal or the lagoon: it is not a barge pole!
Today we are having a ride on Cristiano and Paola’s “Sanpierota” boat, delving into this fascinating world!
