    Great video! Although it's not great advice to just add more. It may get you out of a jam, but clutches are closed systems. If you have to add fluid, you have a leak that needs to be fixed.

  • @Le_Comte_de_Monte_Felin
    @Le_Comte_de_Monte_Felin 8 років тому +2

    If you had any of the fluid from the clutch master cylinder leaking out... CHECK THE HARNESS CONNECTOR THRU THE FIREWALL BENEATH IT!
    The brake fluid attacks that hard plastic and it just disintegrates after a while... Nice job, Jeep engineers! Well thought out!

    Thanks very much for answering me. I'm very frustrated. Yes the reservoir is always full. Should I keep the cap on or off reservoir? Most of the time the level doesn't change, a few time it did. Every time I get a very small restriction in the pedal, then try to bleed it acts like it's going to work, but soon as I open the bleeder screw I get fluid and pressure, then tighten the bleeder screw before the fluid stops coming out, when she raises and pumps the pedal were back to NO restriction at all????

    I have a 95 YJ and guess what....no bleeding port. According to the FSM you have to replace the master & slave at the same time! Now I've got to remove the new master and reorder! Not your fault....my fault for assuming all YJ 2.5L were the same. Thanks for posting video.

    How much free play should the clutch pedal have? I have about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch of play before I feel pressure. Also how high should the clutch grab? Mine grabs right about inline with the brake pedal, when you push on the brake pedal. Thank you

    • @billybobjoe198
      @billybobjoe198 5 років тому

      Jeeps tend to have a bit of play in the clutch pedal before you start doing anything, you can take a peak underneath and you'll see the bushing that your clutch pedal uses is just worn out so it can wobble around before engaging the master cylinder.

  • @starrvalley12
    @starrvalley12 7 років тому

    were you were bleeding it is the second master cylinder, on my 1987 YJ you have to drop the transmission to get to it. after 87 the second master cylinder can be removed from the out side of the bell housing.

    • @billybobjoe198
      @billybobjoe198 5 років тому

      A "second" master cylinder is called a slave cylinder. And you had a throw out bearing slave.

    Tyler,
    I have just replaced my Clutch Master Cylinder as per your video. It was a snap, thanks. But I have a major problem. I can’t get the system bleed. I thought it was a bad part so I took it back and got a new one. I installed it and filled the clutch reservoir up, pressed on the clutch had small amount resistance about ½ way down. I got a friend to press on the clutch down while I opened the bleeder fitting, It push out fluid with pressure. While the pedal was on the floor I tighten the bleed fitting up and ask her to pump the pedal and she said there is no more pressure? Tried this a dozen times, can’t get pressure?? Please help. Thanks

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  7 років тому +2

      Hey Doug, the first thing I would check is that the reservoir up under the hood is staying full enough when she pumps the pedal. This takes a third person, but if she's depressing the pedal all the way to the floor, it pulls a lot of fluid out of the reservoir. Then when she releases the pedal, it may be pulling air back into the system, basically putting you back to square one. Have a third person keep an eye on the master cylinder reservoir and pour brake fluid into it if it's getting low during the bleeding process. I hope that's the solution to your problem, but let me know. Thanks!

    • @dougharlow6037
      @dougharlow6037 7 років тому +1

      Thanks very much for the reply,
      I did as you stated and still no clutch pressure at all (none). What I did do was top off (1/8") the brake reservoir and go home for 2 days, came back to work on the problem again, and behold I had full pedal. pressure just letting it sit. Why wouldn't it bleed when using the pedal pressure??? Again thanks for your reply.
