    I have been intermittent fasting (16/8) almost daily for 7 years now and it's been the best thing I have ever done for my health. At 41 I'm in better physical shape and health than I was at 31. I tell everyone I know about IF and encourage everyone to at least try it.

    I am 73 and I have been fasting for 10 days recently. I felt day for day better. And now I took the challenge to
    get rid of dairy products, sugar, wheat. I got rid of a neuritis (caused of herpes zoster on my head) of about 20 %.
    The progrès is going on slowly but constantly.

    I fast 17 hours each day. It's not difficult after a short adjustment period, and food has never tasted so wonderful. Good health to all! 🥩 🍳 🧀 🥓

      Yeah, i do about 15hr fast. Did u go straight to a 17hr fast or did you do it in steps? Would i find any benefit doing an extra 2 hrs?

    • @TerriblePerfection
      @TerriblePerfection 3 роки тому +11

      @@charliehobson33 I started with 17 hours and quickly adapted. Frankly, I kind of like that empty belly feeling. You probably know that many people practice OMAD (one meal a day), but I'm quite thin and fear losing any more weight. The people who do it swear by it though, so it's definitely good for some, and certainly simplifies food shopping and prep! I believe in finding what works for you, through personal experience. I listen to my body. My current diet is mostly carnivore, and that's after decades as a vegetarian. Good luck finding your sweet spot!

      @@TerriblePerfection thanks. I am thin also! I am on two or three meals a day. I also like the empty feeling, I'm more focused! I fasted till 4pm.on Sunday and i got so many desk jobs done.

      @Mr. Dog I'm too wimpy to take cold showers. I've heard good things about it, and certainly our ancestors had no hot running water, but I just can't do it. Try it and report back! 😊

    • @TerriblePerfection
      @TerriblePerfection 3 роки тому +2

      @Mr. Dog I don't understand what one would have to do with the other. Intermittent fasting happens internally and gives the body time to regenerate at the cellular level. If you also follow a low carb, high fat diet, you can enter ketosis and amplify the benefits. I don't know anything about the contrast showers, but I can't imagine that they'd be mutually exclusive. Maybe we'll hear from someone who does both.

    You guys are a great balance to one another and a wealth of information together. It is so refreshing to see two powerhouse men put their egos aside and relate to one another in appreciation. Thanks for the reminder to get Dave’s book. I absolutely believe that 100% of the population needs to fast from hate and from “othering”. I homeschool my kids so they can have as much of a “normal” life as possible... playing and reading books and being unplugged from the vitriol. I want their brains to be allowed to develop normally. We went to pick up some printing from Staples for my son’s birthday (he will be seven on Friday) and the girl who brought them out to the car was super nice and told him she hoped he has a happy birthday. As we drove away he said in such a happy and content voice... “Mom, isn’t it great? Everyone is so nice and is always so happy and kind to us!” I was just hit by the difference between what is being pushed on the MSM and what my child instinctively knows about community. I told him that people generally reflect back the energy we put out into the world... that when we smile and are kind and thoughtful to others, the vast majority of people respond the same way.

    I’ve been dealing with an illness that seemed to suddenly explode on me last August. My bloodwork work was always good for the first 3 months except for positive RF or inflammation markers. But then around November my bloodwork came back with a lowered platelet count by 100 and my fibrinogen levels were really low. I used to be a fast healer and during this period and even now I heal very slow. A tiny scratch that would heal up in a few days would now take weeks to a month to heal and leaves a big scar. I’ve also been experiencing muscle and joint pain throughout my entire body and even swelling at times. Also end of November I started losing weight and discs have no idea why. No loss of appetite, no vomiting or fever, night sweats etc. had diarrhea maybe four times max in 8-9 months. But my bowel movements have a weird chemical smell and also my urine has a strong smell. No dark or red urine, sometimes it’s almost like water. It becomes an orange color when I take supplements especially b vitamins. CT and ultrasound scans of my organs have shown no blockages, lesions, swelling or abnormalities but I have a lot of burning around liver, gallbladder and pancreas area even sometimes kidney area. The pain is what I suddenly presented with back in August and then it manifested into all the other stuff progressing every week. I literally felt it moving through my body. Lots of nerve pain and numbness and tingling in arms and hands that would come and go with lots of pain that seems to radiate from my neck. Also experiencing sudden muscle wasting and loss of function in arms and hands that come and go. The strangest part of all of this since the beginning is that it always intensifies as soon as it’s nighttime or after the sun goes down terrorizing me all night and then ease in the morning and during the swelling and pain lasts longer into the day now. It seems my body just stopped absorbing nutrients and most foods I was eating I seem to be intolerant to like tomatoes, rice, potatoes, corn, wheat bread which I hardly ate and chicken. I’m still good with fish and liver. Even some nuts like cashews seem to cause more pain and inflammation!

American culture never sees the balance thinking the more the better the bigger the better and do it always the same the better, WRONG. The animal kingdom works in cycle so do we. Use fasting when needed and eat when needed exercise when needed. Use all these only as tools , cheers.

      You don't exactly "kill old cells" though.
      First, all the cells in your body are exactly the same age. And second, you don't "kill them", thanks God.
      What fasting does is repair mitochondria and digest damaged proteins and organelles inside the cell.

    I’ve done IF all my life but we didn’t call it that. My family called it What’s Wrong With That Child/Why Doesn’t That Girl EAT? So it became a way of life and then, there I was around 56 or so when suddenly what I do naturally got a catchy name and a movement pushing it. Yay! Finally! No one nags me anymore about it.
    It’s the blessing of having grown up with a working mom, a depressed dad , and an older brother who could not cook but was charged with the responsibility of preparing “meals”. Food was not very tempting. But at least my dad made sure we ate (plain, unadorned) vegetables and we couldn’t afford snacks. 😊 Today parents might get arrested for such “abuse”, but it served me well. And I’m glad for it. I see the prison that is food addiction. Our prosperous culture makes it so easy. Bless you all who help those who want help! And double blessings to those who struggle. If you’re trying, you’re heroes of your own life.

    Im grateful to God I am young fit and healthy and had it super mild but the fact it leaves these effects is making me anxious
    Its affecting everything and research is paltry since it so early in the game.Some people have been feeling this since first wave so over 8 months.
    I heard a doc say mold is likely a contributor which my small downstairs flat is in constant battle with but its hard to know
    I'm waiting to know if ivermectin has any impact besides the vitamins

    We all know there are bad and good bacteria and our gut should be populated with plenty of the good ones and less of the bad ones but, to me, it´s hard to conceive that a prebiotic fiber is just going to be used by good bacteria. I mean, good or bad, they´re similar.
    It´s hard to believe that the bad ones can not turn fiber into a short-chain fatty acid also, as the good ones do. And why wouldn´t the good ones prefer sugary foods as the bad ones do?

      There is one greater pleasure beleive me, breakfast! breaking a fast.. fasting doesnt mean you dont eat, u just eat less frequently.. put health benefits aside, the food will never taste better after you fast and take a break from it for a while ! your relationship with food will change and you will become more appreciative of this greatest pleasure in life !

      Don't laugh, but I do feel more peaceful and non-attached since going carnivore! I did start meditating again recently because I had such deep feelings of loathing for a certain world leader though! I knew it wasn't healthy for me or those around me. 😊

      The answer about the politics thing is and I'm not preaching but it's to truly not be of this world and yes we have to function in this world but we don't have to be connected personally with politics. Those are just blind mice running around in circles while the creator of the universe is just shaking his head. It's a silly circus so I choose not to be a part of the silly circus.

      No, but it does put our mind in a better space to be able to deal with such things from a more healthful perspective. I feel much more able to rationally talk about the things I care about without feeling so stressed. I still care, still get angry and sad and still shake my head a lot but it doesn’t run me anymore.

    Did anyone else notice that Dr Hyman looks amazing and so much better in this interview compare to the ones recorded 3-6 months ago? Skin colour changed, wrinkles on his forehead gone etc. Really would like to know the secret. Apart from food and lifestyle could it be stem cells therapy? The change is very impressive.

    Unfortunately I wrecked my thyroid (metabolism) with too much fasting and accidental caloric restriction. Lesson learnt - eat enough calories in eating window and don’t over do. It. Two years later my metabolism is still so slow and no matter what I do I can’t lose weight now.

      I have experienced that too. The keto diet was beneficial at first then digestion went out of synce and encouraged H Pyroli and other beasties that have made me really ill. We have to be careful. A 14 hour fast is good and still can get results. Keep well!

      @@suzannahjames526 Only wish I knew then what I know now about the downsides to doing fasting and keto incorrectly as a women...it’s a shame that very few people who promote this lifestyle actually make the risks and ‘rules’ clear. It seems it’s mostly the upside that gets discussed and we pay the price for years afterwards. Having said this I am a believer in fasting and love how it makes me feel but it just needs to be done the right way and to realise it’s not the same size for everyone. Thank you - keep well too!

      As you may know already Dave puts a huge emphasis on cycling through various daily routines. Don‘t do keto every day. Don't fast the same amount of time every day. And always adjust to what works in the real world. Biological gender. Hormones...
