Looks like “Cornerstone Group Development” bought it in May of 2021.
They could’ve easily have filmed an episode of the walking dead there. Kind of sad
Zillow shows that it was sold back in May of 2022 for $7.7 million. At that price it would be most likely sold to a developer.

The house was built in 1928 by William Pratt who helped invent Jell-O. So it would be a shame to tear it down. But I imagine the cost to make it livable again is probably more than the value of the home. In 2021 owner Gary English said he wanted to restore it. Good luck to him!
Yeah. Hate to lose a hundred year old house or see apartments take over a spot like this but a private owner would probably have to pay $10-20,000 just to replace the gate at the entrance. The expense of bringing back a property like this would be like buying the house twice.
If that garage is original the guy must have had some SERIOUS money. A 3 car garage in the 1920s??
The English family lost the house. A developer purchased it for 7.7 mil. However, the English's lost it because they had planned to sell 11 acres to a development company to build apartments, but the city rejected the proposal, so I don't see anyone building something like that.

“Not the type of videos you usually do anymore”? These are the type of videos I subscribed to you for. Ones where you explore old and abandoned places and towns, or just taking the backroads and seeing what interesting things you find. And exploring small towns. I like your other videos where you visit larger touristy places too, but these off the beaten path videos are my jam.
I agree. I love the road trips ,exploring places , etc . Don't care for the Disney, amusement park stuff, It's all the same.

This is wild. To think that I stopped there last year because it was abandoned and not knowing who it belonged to blows my mind. I thought the same thing with the entrance, it was odd. Thank you for the information. Congrats to who ever buys it!!
My guess is that all of that concrete debris was dumped there to keep vehicular traffic out, especially since the iron gates at that entrance were gone.

That is a cool house! I am with you, I’d live there in a heart beat! It is in amazingly good condition considering it is nearly 100 years old and has been vacant for 20+ years! What a great property!
Thanks for dcumenting Adam. I'm amazed at how much new construction is happening in Central Florida. It's actually a little alarming and bringing in tons of traffic, especially to our once "sleepy town" of Clermont..

I hate it even though I don't live in clermont I remember driving through there before it took off down there and now it's just too damn busy. Going up in the citrus tower back then was pretty damn neat now you just see houses instead of orange groves

This is insane! I got chased by security a few years ago trying to see it up close. It’s crazy, but understandable how it’s sat for so long, even now when almost every house that’s ever been abandoned is being bought and sold at the highest dollar. I’m sure nobody wants to touch it because of the obvious history, but it is definitely a beautiful property, truly do wonder what will happen in the future for it.

The Estate was called Bear Lake. My wife managed properties for the Ben Laden that owned the estate. He was not like the bad brother. Went to several parties there.

Love all of your more recent videos as well, but this sure felt like a throwback to when I first started watching your stuff. Like you went on an adventure for me without even asking my mom.
Such a shame. Back in 2010, I had a huge wedding planning even there. I had the exclusive wedding planning rights to any and all weddings. However, the owner at that time, sold the property to a private family. The property was fully manacured and ready for many events. The new owners chode NOT to do this. Fools I would say. I have many photos and would like to share them if anyone is interested.
I would love 🌈🙏🥰to see your pictures of this beautiful property.
It saddens me that this historical home and out buildings are so neglected; that the fate of this property is tainted because it was the vacation home of a family who had an infamous brother. But even more UNCONSCIONABLE is the idea that the local government would permit the demolition of historical 1920’s buildings and the bulldozing of 100+ year old trees! to pave it over and cram housing units on the land.
There are other uses for this property that would protect the serene landscape and historical buildings-As mentioned in other posts, a weddings and events destination,or An arts center, A healing/ spa, A conference/ workshop space…There is certainly a way to rejuvenate this space & honor the land, the trees, the nature, the historical architecture, and also heal and bring peace and new joyous memories without demolishing it.
What were you paying per event to the land owners?

It was recently resold to Virginia-based real estate and development firm Cornerstone Group Development LLC for $7.7 million. The future of the home is uncertain.

cannot now due to health problems have Parkinson's disease, you should contact that company and see if they would let you have access to it and keep and eye on it for them, work out some type of deal lot of room on that property land wise could be good for garden projects even until it sales or if, maybe something that you can salvage in their to make some money This is how I got use of 10 acres 35 miles from me beside a state forest, owners live in Jersey let me use the land until their kids get grown and decide if they want to use it.. I have used it for 5 years now cost $125 a year I agree to pay property taxes but something like this do not just tell them that you will keep tresspassers away and work something out to be able to use it
Terrible what developers are doing to our beautiful lands, not only in my state of Florida..but all over. Wonder what original sale price was and how many people lived in there?

It would be a dream to renovate a mansion like this or see it restored back to its glory! I believe I read the owners want to sell the surrounding land to get the money to do so. It’s fun picturing what this must’ve been like in its heyday. Glad you got to document and share it!

That mansion is a historical landmark which should be totally renovated back to new it sits on a lakefront beautiful amazing place can you imagine what it was like in it's day amazing!

Thank you so much for sharing this video I always wondered about that house. I was on Fort Campbell in Kentucky when the got that sob, I knew his brother lived out there but never got this kind of footage. I would live there in a heartbeat it's so beautiful I see so much potential. You can tell there has been people in there probably kids and tore stuff up, and squatters like you said it's actually sad, that property is amazing. I just wish you would of went in, I would of. I hope it doesn't get torn down for some stupid apartments. You should do more research on buying it, I'm sure the price went way down due some of the damage done to the property and obviously no one is interested in it.
I wish you would keep up the good work by going back and checking out old places like that I miss your old videos I like it when you went into abandoned places I think a lot of us misses that maybe try to throw in a few once in awhile
I would totally own and live in this house if I could afford to. It's awesome! Some people have been saying tear it down because of who used to live there. Why? The house isn't evil. Just the former residents. I hope it doesn't get demolished and one day a well deserving family makes it theirs. ❤❤

We were going to purchase this back in 2008. It was never listed openly it was recommended by private realtors. Fabulous property

Interesting. Other members of his family apparently owned luxury condos in Charlestown in the old navy yard across the Boston Harbor and they evacuated as well. My sister used to own one in another building next door.

He had another brother in California. His mansion was listed last year for 28 mill. He too fled in fear of retaliation. He purchased it for just over a mill years ago and now it’s going for 28 mill as of a year ago. Nice property!

Sold for $7.7 million in 2020. Currently owner thinking of selling for it to be leveled for apartment complex. Neighbors are stalling that effort because they think it will lower prototype values.

As a resident of Winter Garden since 1976 there was a grocery store named Jimmy's Thriftway that the same Bin Laden family that owned this mansion also owned, it's a parking lot now that's at the corner of Woodland St. and Plant St. I shopped there many years before the Bin Laden family took it over, after the 911 attack it was closed up and eventually the building was demolished and turned into the big parking lot it is today, there's an outside laundry mat between the old train tracks and the parking lot that was the grocery store.
I know there used to be a big house that sat on a hill just east of Clermont about where Hancock Rd and Hwy 50 is, that John Dillinger lived in. I was told by an older friend of mine that it was one of Dillinger's hideouts, it made me sad when the home was destroyed. I can't say how many times I went past that house since 1976, at that time Hwy 50 was 2 lanes, the uphill grades were 2 lanes with 1 lane going down hill. That was so traffic could pass the orange grove equipment that was on the north side of Hwy 50, I rode dirt bikes and horses through those orange groves in my mid to late teens.
Good riddance to them people.
That grocery store was also Rainbow, wasn’t it? I remember going in there in the mid 90’s and it was a dump!
@@bethanytheobald8110 yes, that's the name it was when the Bin Laden family owned it. It closed down for good when they left this area, it stayed empty for several years then the city took it over and had the building demolished.

Oh dang it! A part of me was kinda wishfully thinking that there was gonna be at least one cool vehicle inside that garage with the four bays. The thought of this being a Graceland-type of property in Florida is a good one, I definitely get it. I have also seen all of the Columbo episodes and you're right on the money about that property fitting seamlessly into one of their scenarios. Even in its present condition, we can certainly see the beauty of the place and it must have been an absolutely incredible estate. I would hate to see the buildings flattened and the land filled up with condos. Perhaps that would facilitate the greater good, I have no idea of what's needed in the local area, maybe housing is desperately required. Heh-heh, I believe that we can be sure it wouldn't be subsidized housing because of the location on the lake, premium prices can be applied. Very interesting and informative, thank you.

I lived in Central Florida at the time and remember this vividly. The family abandonned the house and fled the country I believe immediately BEFORE the 9/11 attacks, which obviously takes you down a completely separate road into who knew what when...

Hopefully someone with some senses can get it and keep it the way it should be. In the town I grew up in a developer bought farm lands just outside city limits and made a travesty out of it with crappy single family homes and some condos. It really took the quaintness out of it. Man time is a biotch thinking back to the days when everything seemed so much simpler and slower. But heck that was only 20 years ago I can only imagine how my parents think back to their youth lol oh well that’s life haha
