Amazing! A True fan of Sabbath loves all Sabbath's formations, doesn't matter who sings, because the true spirit of sabbath is with Tony Iommi, the Godfather of the riffs and the creator of the Heavy Metal, and this time he did an awesome job as always. Killer's Riffs, specially the intro and of course, the best riff of this music,0:34 to 0:51. RISE UP ! TO THE SHINING! LIVE LONG LIVE NOW! RISE UP ! TO IOMMI LIVE LONG MASTER OF THE RIFFS!
Well said Dont matter who the singer is. Iommi IS sabbath . Its just incredible how many great singers this band, take your pick: dio, martin, ozzy, ian gillan; ya cant go wrong
You guys make no sense to me. I get what ur saying tho. If Iommi is Sabbath and everyone else is interchangeable than thats not a band. Who cares about Sabbath than? All the music is good but no, Iommi is not Sabbath. The four guys that wrote black Sabbath are black Sabbath. I'm on the flip side of the coin, i think its disrespectful to say Iommi is Sabbath. Iommi is Iommi. Sabbath is a band. One man is not a band. In my book this will always be the HEADLESS CROSS band, just as Dio fronted the HEAVEN AND HELL band. Calling the martin era albums Sabbath was dumb. The hardcore sabbath fans weren't interested in a poppy version of the band on their 5th singer with one original member. They hear two seconds and say "this doesnt sound lime Sabbath" and turn it off. Meanwhile the more pop metal fans werent interested in checking out the scary doomy band called "black Sabbath" hence they shoulve changed names. If this album was by a different band Sharon would have no way to screw things up either. I think they would of been much more successful as HEADLESS CROSS band
I agree. We all may have our favorite era of Black Sabbath but there's good music in all eras. Tony Martin faced an uphill climb from the moment he accepted the Black Sabbath gig, though, simply because he had to follow Ozzy, Dio, Ian Gillian and Glenn Hughes. All of those guys except Dio are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (and Dio should be) so it's a tough job to follow those guys. Tony Martin is a talented singer in his own right, though, and his voice fit his era of Black Sabbath very well. A lot of fans piss on this era, which is a shame because there's a lot of good music in the Tony Martin era. It would be cool to see this lineup get back together since the original lineup has retired. They would have to use a different name because of Sharon not wanting them to use the Black Sabbath name unless Ozzy is involved but there are enough songs within the 5 albums that they did for them to tour as Eternal Idol (or whatever they would choose to name the band) and not have to touch anything besides the Tony Martin-era songs.
Mr. Geoffrey James Nicholls 🎹 😔 Mr. Anthony Philip Harford Mr. Anthony Frank Iommi Mr. Neil John Murray Mr. Robert "Bobby" Rondinelli What a Line Up Criminally Underrated ⚡🔥🤘
It’s like totally ignored, it’s frustrating because it feels like dio is the only one honored, Tony Glen Hughes And Ian Gillian were like pushed to the side and they act like only Ozzy and Dio sang for sabbath, it’s seriously fucked up but us fans won’t forget.
Probably sacrilegious but I think this might be my favorite Sabbath song ever. Neil Murray is some bassist. Listen to Whitesnake's Take Me With You to hear how good.
My Mum bought me Eternal Idol on cassette tape back in the early 90s. I thought I'll give it a go. This was one of the standoilut tracks. Still love it.
I love Tony Martin's voice - his albums with Sabbath are My favorite - but, Goddamnit, he always tanks out live, doing different vocal lines 'cuz he can't sing the amazing performances he did in the studio. BUT...and this is a big but...those studio performances are absolutely fantastic, so, at the same time, I can understand why it's hard for him to replicate.
I don't agree. A singer should never push himself in studio in a manner that he can't sing his own songs live. Otherwise it's a fake, a real singer and in general musician must be judged live.
@@heisenberg470 this viewpoint has its limitations. For heavily touring bands, especially, it's understandable they have off moments. Fatigue, sickness, maybe even lack of time to do proper warm-ups, or jet lag. And it's the same as with every band member - if the drummer doesn't keep the time properly or drops the sticks, the guitars are get out of tune or the guitarist has sloppy moments.
Tony Martin albums (a part Forbidden) are so underrated but I love them. Ozzy is the leader, Dio is the frontman, Gillan is the black purple, Martin is the voice.
@@lucalapaglia3941 The mix is shit, the recording environment wasn't great, the lyrics are generally weak, Tony Martin's singing is less emotive than previous records, and it also has a rap verse that ruins the opening track. These aspects combined, along with TM being fired and the original lineup reuniting, only to not make an album for 15 years, gave it the rock-bottom reputation it has now.
I like Martin Vocal though.. But when he did live show, he was always kinda not in the best shape.. He's cord is downtune.. Couldn't go higher like in the album
So underrated.... Honored to read about my Sabbath's Brothers enjoying that as i enjoy this masterpiece..

Looking forward to the Tony Martin era box set May 31.

Tony Iommi is the riff master. Just an absolute machine who creates the most epic guitar noise possible.
Great song from a great album.
I still listen to the Martin era albums regularly (apart from Forbidden).

The bass lines for the album Eternal Idol were performed in the studio by Bob Daisley.
@@KYuri1987 and Daisley wrote Most of the lyrics too. . . The vocal lines and Melodies for this Masterpiece came from Ray Gillen (rip). .

Such a great song
They don't even play this song on Cross Purposes Live. So this is a treat for me.
Great song ✊Great band 🌍❤️🤘
Rise up. To the shining. God bless us all.
Thats the line-up from the concert in the Arena, Vienna, too. I like Tony Martin.

Just love to see a lefty-player (like myself) on the stage. So few of us seem to make it under the lights anymore. Keep the thunder coming Tony.
They are out thereme included. Music business is dead so new music is dead. It's all dead.
Paradise Lost's Greg Mackintosh is another awesome lefty guitarist
@forumamt I forgot if it was Geezer or Ozzy that said that, but Tony was called a "Riff Machine".
Every Sabbath song started from Tony's riff :D

He never had a great live technique ontop of blowing out his voice touring for Cross Purposes when he was sick.
He was at his best in 1987 - 1992

Why is Martin a shadow of himself from only 5 years before?
Tony Martin is great but he really should've just shaved his hair off instead of trying to cling onto it haha
Rondinelli is NOT listening to Neil Murray - he's off in his own world playing jazz beats to Sabbath.

the sound guy did an awful job lol. Shame too because their playing sounds on point
Iommi seems mashed...
That's a good song and it is but I feel like that band went downhill after Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio left along with Gezer Butler
