    Having seen other gymnasts try to come back in the past...Simone is quite literally built different. There is very little difference in her overall form and she looks much the same as she did in her teens. She was born for gymnastics.

      @@trochantermainsign8874 That is a genuinely insane allegation. You need to leave whatever internet 'transvestigation' echo chamber you are inhabiting. There is a wide variance in human physiology and doing gymnastics from a young age does impact your body and its development.

      @@elinat2414 In 1956, Bell labs created the first transistor. Sometime between 1997 and 2001 [no one knows for sure], the first trans-twister was created in a hidden gender transitioning medical clinic. His name was changed from Simon to Simone. They added many features as time went along. His testicles were kept frozen ...so in the not too distant future; a surrogate can be used to provide a child who resembles the original owner...i.e Simon Biles
      Now the above is a plausible possibilty

    I can only imagine how far Elena Mukhina could have gone if she had the option of saying 'no' as opposed to giving in to the pressure that led up to her being a paraplegic for the rest of her life. Imagine if Keri Strug hadn't been pressed to perform those 2 vaults on an injured leg, all for symbolic reasons and even though the US had enough points to win overall without them, perhaps her career would have lasted a little longer. Simone decided for HERSELF, along with her coaches, that both her mental and physical health were more important than risking them to please people. Because she chose to step back, we were graced with a stronger, happier Simone. That's a win for her, for us, and the world of gymnastics. Congratulations Mrs. Owens!

      Love this comment ❤❤❤ All of her die-hard fans and folks who keep up with gymnastics understood why she pulled out of the team event last Olympics, and we celebrated her for that difficult decision. But there was so much vitriol directed towards her from people that only tune in during the Olympics, and I was so frustrated with the fake fans and their complete lack of empathy and understanding.

    I think gymnastics is so amazing and so dangerous. I do not think that it should be a penalty to have a spotter. Maybe if the spot attached is the athlete, they can take points off of the person being there didn’t even touch them. Where is the penalty.

    • @Miranda50709
      @Miranda50709 Рік тому +1

      There's no penalty to have a spotter on bars, so having a penalty for vault makes no sense. I would think vault has a much higher potential for injury.

    I feel like a lot of people are going back to the old habit of “she can still add more, she will add more, she needs to add more” which ultimately lead to her feeling this enormous pressure of continuing adding and adding, guys please stop, she has more than enough difficulty, and yes we know she could add more if she wanted to, but at the end of the day it’s her choice and it’s her mental health, and you won’t help her by putting expectations again on her

    • @SociallyDistantnow
      @SociallyDistantnow Рік тому +5

      Gym fans weren’t and aren’t the problem here. The pressure that USAG put on her to carry the team was always the issue. People have an overly inflated sense of importance. Nothing we say matters remotely to Simone, we don’t make or break her.

    • @TxHoneyBee
      @TxHoneyBee Рік тому +3

      @@SociallyDistantnowExactly. USAG relying on one gymnast to carry the entire organization was not right. Plus the smaller team size at Tokyo was a huge misstep by the international association.

      That is clearly downplaying the weight of the "public opinion" or what people consider to be the public opinion. She is, of course, not immune to what thousands and thousands of people publicly say about her. And if you listen to her interviews, that is as absolutely obvious. Her twitter and instagram feeds made her think people would be super critical about her return and she was even SHOCKED (that’s the very word she used) about all the support she got. Imagine that! To think the "gymternet" can say just about anything without affecting the athletes is incredibly naïve. Does it matter to Simone Biles what you think of her? No. Does it matter to her what I think of her? No. But does it matter to her what hundreds of people write on social media about her? Most likely yes.
