Good information. Thanks! I've got the basic mini mighty vac sucker and its bigger brother. It does suck, but not in a good way. The seals don't hold up very well. They swell in pretty much anything more than water. First time you take it a part to clean it out, you can't get it back together. And when the seals swell it adds a lot of drag to the pumping. Good exercise though. Not MTA approved. I've had pretty good luck with my $25 Harbor Freight vacuum bleeder. For brakes, especially whole car brake line renewal, I'll hook it on to get the fluid moving, but always have to finish with a good old pedal pump or two, which isn't that easy since I'm a one-man operation.
I use the hell out of my fluid extractor. Plug in the air and walk away. 20 years ago you just had to let it hit the ground. No more mess!!! Keep Rocking!!!
I've got the manual pumper... it's probably been broken since the day I got it, because it takes forever to suck any amount out of whatever. Time to get a pneumatic one!
Never used one at the shop but i hear they are good. i have an air powered brake vacuum bleader but have never been impressed with it. it never gets used on brakes
I use the pneumatic one for sucking old gas doesn't go through any valves. The hand pump one the valve goes out faster if you suck old gas. They say not to suck gas with them I understand they don't want the liability with explosive fumes.
Great video thanks brother. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again. There is so many things in the industry today that you need one of those for. Cooling system and more I think it getting out of control. I understand that some places provide them but what about the ones who don't. Thanks again
How to suck fuel? Any recommendations on a good sucker that will handle fuel like diesel & gasoline from small tanks like generators & lawn mowers? Sure, no one wants to comment due to liability, but if one were needed which model has resistant plastic to fuels...And I just found your channel, will be checking it out. Thanks
hello the only thing that sucks its the air opperated fluid extractor I wrote to the humble mechanic to make a video on that thing because he had one of those at the dealership he used to work at but never did I hope you make a video -its been more than 10 years I bought that P O S and never worked thank you
I bought the first one you showed and found it as useless as a politician. Leaked and low capacity. Not worth the material it was made of. Still deciding what to do with it. Waste of money for me.
Flat Rate Master, love the videos. I was wondering if you could make a video regarding your suggestions for SAE tools that auto techs should keep in their boxes. It's a metric world, and I've reduced my SAE stuff to a few wrenches and 1/2" sockets. What are your suggestions?
Another great video and interesting tools. I did not know some modern cars have done away with drain plugs? Makes no sense to me, as contaminants and metal particles stay in suspension and get drained away along with old fluids. Where's the logic?
they still have drain plugs, it's more of a convenience thing because some companies, mercedes in particular, have switched to a cartridge style filter mounted in a way that it can be changed from the top of the car. easier to do everything from up top than it is to put it on a lift and take off all the panels under the car.
Hello FRM i had a question im a new subscriber! I want to get into the mechanic field never worked at any garages or shops yet, were is a good place to start? i live in maine and was wondering if i went to a automotive course at a community college would that be worth the time? Better chances at getting a job in a shop? It would be really great to see your perspective in a video on this topic... I see this question day in and day out. Ps not sure if u have a 🎥 on this or not on your channel..... If u do i apologize havent gotten that far yet lol Thank you FRM!
I think going to a community college is a great way to get started in the business, it will give you a good foundation to build on, and most colleges have placement assistance after you graduate to help you find a job
Techs dont get paid what there worth, especially for the knowledge you have to possess...especially now a days with most vehicles being computer operated
I refer to and Chevy of 1995 that need an Dex cool but is bad for him, but is the today's Dex cool the same formula or is corrected to can use them in the old chvys?
For brakes a pressure bleeder is a best practice, I found a one way check valve w a small hose on it on Amazon it's quick been using it for brake flushes and no need to pull a guy off his job to do bleeds.
What ever happens just make sure it gets on UA-cam. Eric said something about spooning so I found a room with two beds. LOL Oh man, this is going to be fun. I wonder if you guys will get any work done at all. :)
Sadly FORD differentials do not allow you t use a suction in the fill plug. Gear in the way 😞 my Matco dealer told me not to use mine for brakes do you agree, the manual says you can?? Im scared and lost and don’t know where to turn!😂
The Swedish Mechanic it was a q7 with a 3.0t. I took the undercarriage cover off, saw the plug, saw it was over a crossbeam and would make a mess anyway and thought- screw this let's suck it. I didn't want to chance stripping anything or making the mess
the harbour freight green pneumatic one is awesome I've been using it for years with no problems.
How do you clean it?
Had no clue about the no drain plugs ha. Great video showing all of the different version if the fluid extractors !

WE use a pressure bleeder for bleeding brake way faster and easier
That matco brake fluid bleeder is amazing I’m in love with it sucks real good.
I use the hell out of my fluid extractor. Plug in the air and walk away. 20 years ago you just had to let it hit the ground. No more mess!!! Keep Rocking!!!
Good video. I prefer the manual extractor, working in my own home shop it gives me more options. No more time cards for me!
I've got the manual pumper... it's probably been broken since the day I got it, because it takes forever to suck any amount out of whatever. Time to get a pneumatic one!
:)
I thought this video was going to be about how to get a raise from the boss, oh well, still informative.
🤣🤣🤣
That Matco one sucks I have it in my closet. Only used it twice at work then took it home never used it again lol
Never used one at the shop but i hear they are good.
i have an air powered brake vacuum bleader but have never been impressed with it. it never gets used on brakes
I started to comment that this video sucks, but my man is way ahead of us

@flat rate master could you pull a vacuum on transmission lines to remove the fluid from torque converter

I have mightyvac for bleeding calipers had it for few years and it works great
The best type of oil extraction method is gravity by removing the sump plug
Ya I bought a power sucker must have tool. Will help speed up most fluid changes.
I have the HF bleeder similar to your matco one, I have been looking at the big ones like you showed.
hello the only thing that sucks its the air opperated fluid extractor I wrote to the humble mechanic to make a video on that thing because he had one of those at the dealership he used to work at but never did I hope you make a video -its been more than 10 years I bought that P O S and never worked thank you
I use an actual turkey baster.:) I only work on my own Blazer.
how can u bleed brakes the that adapter just setting the vac to suck
I'm sure a few dirty jokes could be made from that title, many at your expense! lol
It was completely intentional😉
Was in the market to get one for my shop thanks
I bought the first one you showed and found it as useless as a politician. Leaked and low capacity. Not worth the material it was made of. Still deciding what to do with it. Waste of money for me.
yeh, ours shit the bed after a few months.

I can!
How can you clean the reservoir if you used engine oil or trans oil?

What was your most frustrating or difficult fix?
Your right, late model cars make this tool a necessity. Have fun up in S.I.!
Thanks!
Oh my god ask u about this 11months ago thank u for this video but already bought one from mac 😆😂😂😉

Do certifications make a big difference? Were do u start?? I would love to see a video about this!! Thank you for your time FMR!

Flat Rate Master 👍🍻

I agree totally. They are paid a fraction of what they are worth, like a good musician.
Sorry FRM maybe that's no the forum now but I have a question. You think , is the old Dex cool the same of today's Dex cool?
I refer to and Chevy of 1995 that need an Dex cool but is bad for him, but is the today's Dex cool the same formula or is corrected to can use them in the old chvys?
Do you have any personal pump ?
The air powered Mityvac is mine
For brakes a pressure bleeder is a best practice, I found a one way check valve w a small hose on it on Amazon it's quick been using it for brake flushes and no need to pull a guy off his job to do bleeds.
it sucked, in a good way. :-)
You two have fun in Staten Island! Make some cool videos guys.
+wyattoneable you do have power of attorney for the bail money right Wyatt? hahaha
What ever happens just make sure it gets on UA-cam. Eric said something about spooning so I found a room with two beds. LOL Oh man, this is going to be fun. I wonder if you guys will get any work done at all. :)
I was good with the plan until the term spooning was mentioned. lol Thanks Wyatt!
You all have fun!
Sadly FORD differentials do not allow you t use a suction in the fill plug. Gear in the way 😞 my Matco dealer told me not to use mine for brakes do you agree, the manual says you can?? Im scared and lost and don’t know where to turn!😂
lol
Looks like a Peanuts 🥜 pump 😏😉
🤣🤣🤣
like the video i have the small one
A long thicker one ;)
Great vid!!! just know it was very hard for me not to make a "Suck" joke. lol
if ya didnt like the video, give it a thumbs down. tell me it sucked, no pun intended ;)
So some cars have no engine oil drain or dipstick? Thats the stupidest thing ever.
Tx Dm93 yeah.. found out the hard way on a friend's audi
What model was that? Newer Audis with the new style plastic oil pan has a quarter turn lock drain plug that requires a special tool to remove it.
If it's anything like the VW plastic quarter turn drain plug, the only "special tool" I needed was a flathead screwdriver!
The Swedish Mechanic it was a q7 with a 3.0t. I took the undercarriage cover off, saw the plug, saw it was over a crossbeam and would make a mess anyway and thought- screw this let's suck it. I didn't want to chance stripping anything or making the mess

🤦🏽♀️🙄
