It’s very important on these engines to pay attention to the notice on the oil filler cap and NEVER overfill the oil, or catastrophic damage will occur. These engines usually use a bit of oil so it’s tempting to overfill, but to be safe most enthusiastic owners try and keep the oil mid way between the marks on the dipstick.
My 700cc had a drain plug. My 600cc did not. So on my 600cc I took off the oil filter first and started the engine for 5 seconds and turn it off. Every drop of oil was pumped out!!! No harm to the engine since 2015....
I love my 1ltr 451. It has the same power to weight ratio as a new Focus ST, drives like a gocart round town and is ZERO TAX. Ok so nothing like either of my 3.2 V6 TTs but as a town car, hard to beat.
So why didn't you pull the filter out ????? Oil won't pass back through the filter , I managed my smart fortwo with out all this extra headache ..... Undo the 27 mm cover , take out the filter , and slightly lift ( jack ) the front end .... Job done ✅ I've done it !!! I can't see why you are all pissing about ????? I can even video next time I change mine 🤷🏻♂️
@@L663 You're a bit confused ?? Me too ??? I've changed my oil 3 times ,after I refit a new turbo , just took out the filter , lifted the front end and took easily 3 LTRs out , my friend had one , he said the same as you , " pump it out " I told him what I did ... 🤷🏻♂️
Why such an abrupt end to the videos? I'm thinking it's going to an ad break but it's not. No, "well thanks for watching, like and subscribe" or "in our next video", its just blank screen, end. 🤔
What a stupid design having no drain plug, that guarantees that the oil in these things will only ever get topped up, not a very good idea, probably the only way to get any crud out with the oil is to pump it out when the engine is hot, but not a good idea with no plug, could you braze a threaded bush into the sump ?
Hi - i have to agree - for a moment i thought it was genius idea - put the filter at the bottom of the engine and let it drain when you remove the filte... but alas no ! I was wondering about using a rivnut in the sump..... no need to remove / braze etc
Englishman French it’s fairly easy to extract the oil via the dipstick tube if the oil is warm, but it’s better to replace the plastic sump with a steel replacement that has a sump plug for about 50 quid, at the same time a spin on oil filter conversion is well worth while .

Might have been good to smear a little oil on the o ring to help it slide round when tightening up.

Bit confused... we did undo the 27mm and take the cover and pull the filter out... but we also need to change the oil ?

Newer land rovers are like this. So not the only stupid design.
