How do you get from the cabin to the ski lift? And is there anyway to get to downtown Voss? We want to go in March but I do not want to rent a car....so I'm not sure how to get around. Was looking at staying at Voss Resort but apparently the snow is better at Myrkdalen. Thanks in advance!!
From the cabin in myrkdalen village to the ski lift you just walk..., or ski. If you stay at voss, its a 30 minutes drive. There is a free ski bus from voss to myrkdalen and back every day. But if you stay in voss resort cabins, it is also some distance down to the main road. Normally there is enough snow in voss also in march, but myrkdalen is definately a more snow safe place, yes. There is also both hotel and apartments in myrkdalen if you wanna stay there. Lots of options actually...!
@@RuneLangeland Thank you so much for the reply!!! Sorry to bug you with all of this, but I haven't come across any actual skiers to ask about this stuff. Nothing is available for lodging in Myrkdalen when we are going. So I'm thinking we're going to book the stay in Voss. My only issue is how to get from the lodging to the resort and also downtown for eating. If we stay downtown, obviously we can walk to an nearby restaurant. But...I don't think the gondola runs past 4:00 (at least from what I can find online) and we want to catch some night skiing at Voss but if the gondola isn't running, there's no way to get back to Voss Center for our hotel. If we stay at Voss resort, there's no way to get to town. I really don't want to rent a car... But that might be the only answer.
@@LS67NOVA No worries :-) I live 1 hour from voss, have one apartment in oppheim and one in myrkdalen. I have full season card in Myrkdalen for the whole family every year. Very nice area, if you like downhill, cross country, after ski or just a good time. Recommended :)
@@RuneLangelandok thank you!! One last question please.....my one main worry is ski conditions the first week of March. I've read a couple posts where people said rain can be an issue at Voss and even Myrkdalen. Is that true? Is it something to worry about and try to book at Hemsedal instead? Or is rain pretty rare and the ski conditions are usually great in early March? I really appreciate your help!!! This is the last chance I'll get to do this with my son so I really want to get it right.
@@LS67NOVA ah, didnt see your full message. If you stay at voss and ski at voss, its just 5 minutes by car, so maybe just call a taxi when you need it. Gondola is to and from the top only, not from the area with the lodging. If you want to take the gondola down to voss, you need to first take the chair loft up from bavallen location. Check airbnb in myrkdalen, should be some available. The hotel also manages private apartments, you can call them and ask about availability if you still consider myrkdalen!
