I always go to DID chains now. They are japanese just like RK but I find they have better quality control. On top of that. Almost every Italian, Japanese, top of the line bikes you will find are supplied and raced with DID chains. They are simply the best quality chain you can buy. Ive used RK and felt it didn't last as long and stretched unevenly.
Depends on how you ride and if your chain is actually still good to ride on. Even if you have them than long it certainly doesn't mean your chain was adequate to ride with. Lots of people ride with a chain long past when they should.
I have a 07 honda vfr800, I need a chain and sprocket set. I know it requires 530 and 110 links. I want the best chain and sprockets set that I can get. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
@@scoobysword thanks Matt. Your video is helpful. I am hearing a chain noise. Just did odo 2k on cb300r and there as been complaints on the noisy chain. So I was thinking to use the 520 xring but was wondering can I mount it on the existing sprockets. Since sprockets are just 2k odo and good as new. What's your advise!
@@edzoortau2059 You can only use a 520 chain with 520 size sprockets. The 520 is the pitch. the chain is thinner, lighter and has a different profile on the rollers. If your going to switch you need to swap the sprockets too. Make sure you get quality, no vortex crap. If it only has 2000 miles I would check your chain slack. Should be about 30mm but check your manual for verification. Thats from roller pin pushing up and roller pin pushing down.

@@edzoortau2059 my advice is that your sprockets are wornd already some, and thats why it wears your future new chain "and sprocet" faster, so you drive much longer on next round, new ones saves your money, if you maintain properly

@epic.roadventures not at all. Take a grinder. Grind off the pins, punch them out. Then you have a shorter chain. Been doing it for years. Works like a charm. Just make sure you count the links twice.
No, gold has a titanium coating ( if I'm not wrong - it's titanium dioxide coating) which makes it MUCH MORE resistant to rust. Zvm-x is a great chain. Used it around 40 K kilometers on my ktn 990 adventure, by the way I ride rough, I did not even needed to adjust the tension for first 20-25.000 kms. And there is still no rust, bought a new set today. Time to change after 40k.
The gold plating is subject to be better weather resistant, avoiding corrosion. The best way to avoid rust in the places that matter (the rollers inside and in-between links) is to a have a nice chain wax you apply every time it starts to look dry. I do mine every 250 miles roughly. This will help to prevent water from getting in and staying in.

A 150$ chain only lasts 15.000 miles? Dang... The ones I've bought I've used them for like that long, but they cost about 60$

Did chain and Afam sprockets if you can find them
If not driven is a good brand for sprockets too

I use spray on motul. Seems to stick the best and last the longest.
Isn't it noisier compared to the 530 or 525?
No, not at all. Typically, noise is associated with lack of lubrication or incorrect slack adjustment. The chain will slap if too loose.

Did dyno with 520 and 530. Couldn tell the the difference in horsepower
I would think the #520 offers quick pick up speed/torque so really doesn't factor with dyno as far as top h.p. #'s.
