In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will share with you an aggressive chess opening for Black that can catch your opponents off guard when facing the 1.d4 opening move. Known as the Budapest Gambit, this opening is designed to create a dynamic and aggressive game right from the start.
Facing White's queen's pawn move, 1.d4, can often be challenging for Black players. In this lesson, we'll introduce you to the Budapest Gambit, an opening that can inject aggression into your game and keep your opponent on their toes.
While some players rely on traps in this opening, GM Igor Smirnov will show you how to build a strong attacking position, regardless of whether your opponent falls for the trap.

GM Igor I want to get the link but it's failing
Puzzle: Qxf1, Nxf1, Nf2+, Nxe4
For the puzzle of the day:
Qxf1!! Brilliant sacrifice to clear the f2 square for the knight, and after the forced Nxf1, Nf2! wins back the queen and black is comfortably a piece up in the endgame

I had trouble against 4.Bf4, Rubinstein Variation, now this video clarifies that variation. Thanks Igor for this video
Just played this today and promptly forgot about the bishop to G3 and castled instead. He went Knight to C3 so on a larf I went pawn to B5 and he took it with his Knight! BAM! Bishop to G3 check, discovered attack on the Queen and resignation after move 10! What a sweet response to d4. Keep 'em coming Mr. Smirnov!
Magnificant analysis igor... keep it up and hava a pleasant day.
Thanks for the video Igor. I wish you can make a video on the Pirc defense.
I always like he consistency in quality chess advice from your content, this opening should be called the the 7 deadly traps of the Budapest.
Lovely episode! You are teaching not only techniques , but the way thinking to play interesting chess!
Is positional chess not interesting for you?
I watched Eric Rosen's videos about it too and I'm thinking this one is more beneficial in terms of simplicity of the moves, easy to understand, thank you sir 🙌
I love your longer videos
Wonderful Insights Sir..
Thanks!
I'm sticking with hartlaub charlick and love it! never had fun playing black at all until that. now to get rid oft he scandinavian
11:17 - QxB
if NxQ, follow up with Nf2 fork
Qxf1+
knight takes back the Nf2+ winning the queen for free because the knight is not defending the queen so black wins a bishop
I like the queen sacrifice but rook d1 might win more material. it pins the knight and even if he moves his king to c1 you can take the knight with rook. then bxd2, QxF1+, after the king moves Qxa1
1.----R-d8, 2.N-f3.
Hello and merry Christmas 🎄
I like your videos and your advices.
I have a question. If the white doesn't play xd6 what do you recommend in any case. Thank you very much!!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Hello Igor, can you make a series for endgames?
You have many videos for opening and middlegame but now, endgames.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Very cool
Can you make a video about the old indian defence as opening against 1. d4?
Thank you oh wise and mighty one...
Budapest Gambit ! I'm likin it.
Super awesome moves at 15:20
Master Igor you've single handedly raised my rating for free. I've become a swashbuckling black player due to your lines.
In a tournament playing the Rubinstein variation after 7...Qxf6 my opponent played 8.Qc1 d6 I had t I settle for a draw, you have an recommendations??
Dear igor, your hint to check the englund gambit in case of no c4 doesnt make sense when you already have chosen to play nf6 😊.
Hi, I'm just wondering what to do if white plays 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e5 3. dxe5 Ng4 4. Nf3 d6 5. Bg5? It seems pretty annoying and according to Stockfish, the best move is Qd7 and then after exd6 there is Bxd6, but no more attack. Thanks
Thank you Mr. Smirnov.
these video keep coming even if these opening are actually unsound...the videos where you were explaining strategy, pawn structures, positional concepts, to take is a mistake were sooooo much better. Please do them again
Speaking of "to take is a mistake", what if, when we play d6, the opponent just doesn't take ? It just seems like we want the bishop there to threaten things on the d file, but if the opponent just doesn't take, nothing is happening there, and your bishop might have some trouble developing because you blocked it.
@@noobiesensei6281 exactly
crazy opening
Sir make a video against english opening🙏
In case we don't know the player style and the game goes like 1. d4 Nf6, 2. Bf4 then how to continue as black??
I am sorry, but I am strongly convinced that White never go c4 after d4, they go Nf3 first to avoid any tactics against d4-c4 setup
It’s the most common move…
It’s the most common move
I play Nf3 to avoid the Budapest too. But Nf3 is also committal. What if you wanted a pawn on f3 to play the Samisch against the King's Indian?
At 12:55 what if White replies Qb3 to be followed by Nd5 or Nb5 ? With his Bf4 still there the tricks shown in thus video do not work.
1:05 instead of exd6 what if h3? All fails!
Nxe5
Black move is casteling O-O-O
I'm intrigued by Q-G3, but it's tricky.
I opened 1 Nf3 Nf6 2 d4 and the opponent played e5 imagining I had played c4 because he wanted to play the Budapest. Yes, you see incredible blunders very early.
Qxf1+ Nxf1, Nf2+ Ke1, Nxe4
Why is it called Budapest Defense? Who played it?
But, what about 5. Bg5 instead of exd6? Isn't it winning for white?
The only chess question I had for over a year now is how to punish users who immediately fincheto both bishop as soon as the game starts. It don't matter what color they use. They do the same thing. I hate those users And mostly loose when they do that.
Fianchetto is my kryptonite

Devious Thumbnail 🥶
😈
😮
1.Qxf1+ Nxf1
2.Nf2+ is the winning idea for black
And what if 6.e3?? Nobody answers here :(
qxbf1 check,nxq +nf2 check
Qxf1 nxf1 nf2+ fork
Qf1 leads to SHENANIGANS!
❤

Puzzle queen take f8
...QxB+, NxQ followed by royal fork
QxN!
Is it Stafford gambit in reverse?
No, just check the stafford gambit
@@ingogoldbeck2886 ah, I meant tennison gambit, but it was late at night and I mixed 2 thoughts into one.
@@vladislavshevchenko634 yes now i see it, correct. Tennison reversed
@@ingogoldbeck2886 I love tennison gambit against Caro-kann it's way better than getting into any of Caro theory which black probably knows better than me.
this gambit doesn't work!White just play 5.h3
You don't get it
maybe, explain to me@@thimobaumgartner8673
Rook then knight then queen
qxbf1,knytxq then knytf2 double check
I know what I'm doing with the next 17 mins.

😂 let's challenge is all I say.
