Thanks for the review video. Some taste test of the 3 profile extractions would been really good. Also, milk steaming and warmup time indications. But all in all thanks you for the review, enjoyed it thoroughly..🙃

Great review indeed, In comments, I see once you preferred the digital on top of Electronic and in another you preferred the opposite :). If i have a good deal on digital shall i buy it or wait and buy Electronic version? thanks

@@syariffudinzo still loving it. Seems to be a machine not very many suppliers sell though, i don’t know why that would be. Still having between 2-5 cups a day in our household. As long as you keep on top on keeping it clean (as with any coffee machine) you’re gonna love VBM. Great performance. Only bad thing is that i can’t drink coffee when i’m out without critisizing it.
@@kvassekris oh nice! i saw some thread people return it back with machine bricked, or seller not supporting it. kinda worried cause I’m looking for a profiler and bianca is still manual and can only store one profile. this machine kinda jackpot with the feature especially the electronica version. oh questions if you dont mind, do you use water filter/softner? how frequent you descale? and what kind of acid you use for descaling? and back flush did you use any special chemical or just use water?
You mentioned using pressure profiling to get a longer lasting pleasant aftertaste, do you have any tips on how to achieve that? Or was that just like a theoretical thing? :)
It's from experience manipulating the pressure that you come across certain patterns of flavour in relation to pressure profiles. Low pressures brew smoother, less bitter coffee. Longer, low pre-infusions decrease viscosity but highlight a balance of acidity, body and sweetness. A low, post-infusion helps to tail off the espresso, avoiding over-extraction and mellows out the after-taste.
I spoke with Peter about this product and am interested to know if 1.4 bar is the max steam pressure?
Also, do you stock the Electronica version or only the digital? As I understand it the Electronica can also set volumetric control where the digital doesnt (being manual lever).
I wuld imagine having volumetric would remove need for my scales on the drip tray... or do volumetric machines fail to accommodate what is retained in the puck?
Hi there, No, I believe 1.5 or 1.6 is the max pressure. But that's some serious pressure. It should really only need 1.3 max. Most machines with a max pressure of 1.3 a usually a little underpowered - as the MAX is the pressure-stat that turns the heating off... you want the boiler to be powerful enough to hold temp - but no be too powerful to begin with - to avoid creating a mess blowing milk everywhere.
We do not carry the Electronica Version - only the Digital. There's very few true volumetric machines available for the home barista. If you're wanting to press the button and get 40ml of espresso each and every time, regardless of the grind size (so to speak) - this being true volumetrics - the VBM won't do it - it is TIME BASED. But it will reproduce a good shot of espresso - if you dial it in correctly - and program the machine during that time. So long as you maintain the parameters closely - same dose in, same grind ... than the end results will be the same. But Let's say you change the grind size dramatically finer for example- this will put the machine out of balance with the program and you'll likely brew a longer shot of espresso of less quantity, and the reverse is true as well - if you ground coarser.
So, end of the day - volumetrics - as good as it can be - will only work, much like most programs- so long as you set it up correctly and control the input parameters.

Great review, thanks! I had heard one was able to do a volume based shot, like with the Bezzera Duo or Matrix DE, so it would measure the volume of your shot, regardless of how long it took. I like this because it means when you are like me, constantly trying new coffee and having to re-dial-in each time, I would rather keep the over or under-extracted shot than waste it, so if I've ground too fine and the shot takes a whole minute to produce my 2:1 ratio, I love that the Bezzera can do this and shut off automatically when the volume is reached.

It can not no
AFAIK the "count-up" actually has a use in the Digital and really only defines when the pressure bars start turning green and red. See how all bars turn green after 30 seconds after Joshua sets count-up to 30 seconds?
This is also why the Digital has only one count-up while the Electronic has separate count-ups for its four volumetric settings. All the talk about the "algorithms" VBM implemented calculating extraction for changing bar colors is rubbish, unfortunately. Correct me if I am wrong.
do you prefer this machine over Lelit Bianca V3 ? why ?
Sorry, I’ve never had these two machine’s side by side - but in all the machines I’ve worked on - the VBM E61 Grouphead is still my favourite
What's the max steam pressure?

The music is covering the actual pump noise which I wanted to hear. I can still hear something though and I don't like it plus that squeaking lever? 🤔
For a machine that's not that cheap I'm not impressed.
