    I'm a new sub, love your channel. Tyler, could you please do a video on "Tall goalkeepers vs. shorter goalkeepers"? My 12 yr. old son is just learning the position, and gets a bit intimidated when he sees how tall most pro GK's are. Maybe some things that smaller stature guys need to work on more than taller guys. Thanks!

    • @GKGOLUREMI
      @GKGOLUREMI  2 роки тому +10

      Hey man, at 12 he shouldn't be worrying about height at all. Just focus on the building up the basics. As he gets older and stops growing that's when you might start tailoring your play style to fit best with your height.

      @@GKGOLUREMI Hi Tyler! The reason for my comment is that I am only 5' 9", however, so, my son will never be as tall as a guy like you (6 ft. plus). How do I communicate to him that he doesn't have to be as tall as Manuel Neuer to be a good GK? I love Jasper Schmichael, watch him a lot, but my son thinks they are all "bigs." Also, any vertical jump training techniques you could recommend for kids? BTW, Love your channel, I hope you get a new contract from someone, somewhere, I know it's a torturous grind to pursue a dream, no one ever sees the sacrifice and struggle. God bless.

      @@nightwolf2666 Gotcha. Yeah, he really shouldn't be stressing about the long term yet anyways. But for shorter gk's they usually need to be smart (know how to read the game), have really good feet, and really safe hands. And of course have a good vertical and reactions. I have one video for improving your vertical than I'll put a link at the end for. But for me as a kid I improved my vertical by just playing a lot of basketball. And luckily I'm currently under contract in Croatia's second tier. But we will see where I end up over the summer. ua-cam.com/video/vDqYxJGoHuM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=GKGOLUREMI

      My son is 13 and a goalkeeper for his middle school team. He has one year left to play MS soccer. He's 5'2" and does surprisingly well. He wasn't quite that tall last year and he made a lot of great saves. This was due more to technique and reading the plays than his height. This is the 3rd year that he's played the keeper position. The first year he played keeper, he won the starting job after one game. Twice (one indoor and his MS soccer team) he won the starting goalkeeper job after one practice. The indoor league, his coach came to me and said she would leave it up to him if he ever wanted to play out of the net. As for his middle school, they do some practices with the high school girl's team in June. Their coach came to me more than once to tell me how well she thought he plays. Her husband is the boy's high school coach, so I'm sure she's mentioned it to him, plus they've both watched him play a game or two. I actually do keeper drills with him 5-6 days/week until the middle school sessions start. We still do drills throughout the season, although less when the season starts as he has 2 games/week and 2 practices/week. This channel came up as a suggestion when I started looking into helping him improve. I can say that he uses the techniques that Tyler makes videos for and they have helped his game tremendously.

    The goalkeeper at 3:33 falls because of a well-hidden elbow to the stomach. Take a closer look and see how the attacker holds his hands and stops in front of him and then, push his elbow against the goalie, slightly but violently. It wasn't a flop. It was a red for the attacker!

      i dont agree with you fully, attacker did keep hes arms in and elbow bit outward but it was more a turn of the body then hit with a elbow, goalie fell yes but also tried to sell it bit to.

    The worse is when attackers come slide tackling into a ball you fielding as a keeper, studs up. I have gotten kicked in the head, and no cards were given. It’s why I do not play anywhere near as much recreational league as I used to.

      You still need to make a play on the ball when checking someone with your shoulder. You can't just come in after they already got the ball off their feet and lay them out. And you especially can't come that late in a simple men's league game and send them into the bleachers.
