You are the only you tuber currently with recipes for the instant pot duo crisp. Everybody else is about 2 to 3 weeks behind you and are just doing unboxing now. I think it because you are both the hardest working small appliance reviewer and you had all the recipes worked out from the foodie. Keep up the good work. Maybe we can the sous vide feature in action next.
You are a great teacher! Thx John
Thank you for this helpful video! I just bought my Duo and can’t wait to try this.
Just got one of these for Christmas, and we're doing steak in it today. This'll be our first use of it. We'll be following your technique. Thanks for making this video!.
That is good to hear...I think you will be impressed!!! Let us know how they turn out!!!
This was really helpful, thank you
I don't comment on a lot of videos, but I really appreciate seeing this in action! I've been on the fence about buying one but it looks like the quality is pretty good! Thank you very much for the great video!
I think it is a very good device and I honestly think you would be impressed with it... the removable lid really works well in a lot of situations... thanks for watching!!!
I just got my instant pot duo crisp and can’t wait to try a pork roast today.
Thanks for your thorough and informative videos!
You will love the machine and the things you can do with it...thanks for watching!
Thinking about getting this, and you made a great case for it.
It is an n excellent machine and I think you will be impressed!!! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic video! (And thanks for putting "steak" in the description because that's what I wanted to learn about!) Ghee, even in the jar, is fantastic for cooking a steak. I have been using ghee for about 4-5 years now and it just creates a whole other dimension in flavor! When you tasted your steak, I kept waiting for you to say something like, "Weeee, doggie!" That's what my uncle would say. haha Thanks for taking the time to share this. I am definitely considering getting one now!
It was Weeee Doggie worthy...lol...the ghee adds a excellent flavor...I've started using it on a lot of things! Thanks for watching!
Steak and cooking method looks great, enjoy.
Thanks Michael...it really worked well and simple and quick to do...thanks for watching!
I bought this Insta Pot for my mother. She was very happy with it! 💗💗

This is amazing, trying to cook steak for my husband is a challenge in the winter months, this is going to be wonderful. Thank you for the great recipies.😃
You are very welcome and i think he will be very impressed!!! Thanks for watching!!!
John the steaks we amazing. No thermometer but dried out in fridg, sprayed with Ghee, seasoned with salt and pepper. 15 min each side perfect 👌😍
THANK YOU for showing how to actually use this and having recipes! Everyone is is literally unboxing. ❤
Make more recipes!
At the end you should give us a wrap up the time and heat the duo crisp was at. I was not able to find one. Great video thought.
Just bought myself a instant pot duo crisp, got a great deal at Kohl’s, after my coupons and Kohl’s cash I paid 118.00 on Black Friday, I am going to have it delivered today so I have been watching all of your videos and they are really good and helpful on getting me familiar with the way it works and the ins and outs of my machine. I am very excited about this purchase, I believe next Thanksgiving, GOD willing, I will be cooking a Turkey breast. Thank you so much, can’t wait to get it and cook a Ribeye 🥩.
Your gonna love it...It is a great device that does a lot of things very well...That was a good price too...thanks for watching!
I love your videos. Please keep doing videos on the Instant Pot Duo Crisp Lid. I need to learn more about the Crisp Lid.
You should do the sous vide bag cooking the steak next looks great
I have looked into that and will try something soon...thanks and thanks for watching!
That looks delicious and cooked just the way I like it. I don’t have a thermometer like you have. What do you suggest?
I need to know something as the 6 quart instant pot duo crisp doesnt have a broil setting so I am wondering what setting you would say I should use instead?
I haven't been able to get a Duo Crisp Air fryer to work more than a couple of times. After that the base stops recognizing the lid. IP was gracious enough to send me a warranty replacement. Sadly, after 2 uses it's doing the same thing.
Wow...I have nor had any problems with mine at all... thanks for sharing this!!
Any plans on doing a steak in the vortex 6, would love to see
I have not done that yet due to so many other things hitting the market...lol...I may try to do that and I feel positive it will have no problem with it...thanks for watching!
looks great per usual, Jelly 007! how many min. wasthe first side cooked before the flip?. I got the total time of 20 minutes. I appreciate your videos!
I would just go by look and feel...after it has some color and sear flip it so the other side will get some also... probably around midway...hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@JohnSanders your comment was "Just past midway" so I'm figuring since you started with 30, you meant about 16 min. which gives you another 5 to the 21 min. mark. I don't have a thermometer so I think I'll go 10 and 11 :D so they're even. Isn't this great fun? I just received mine it's my 1st pressure cooker and my 1st air fryer and I am 68! LOL Thanks so much I'm looking forward to watching your other videos that are for Duo Crisp ... grateful for your efforts here :D
I think I can guarantee that these items will change the way you cook... they certainly did for me... and I can't wait to hear what a 68 year old comes up with and what recipes you find work way better in the air Fryer... I'm telling you there are plenty of them because I'm finding them all the time...lol... thanks for watching and keep me posted!!!
@@JohnSanders :D Thanks... I just left you a comment re: the comparison of Ninja to the Instant Pot... the saga continues! LOL
just got one and bravely tried steak for my first experiment. We are just about smoked out of the house! Am I doing something wrong?
That looks so yummy! Hey, did you know that you can make movie theater popcorn in your Foodie? I made it last night and it turned out perfectly. I used a little peanut oil, 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels and put a glass lid on the Foodie, set it to saute on High and in just a few minutes it was popping. Just as it stopped, I turned it off and added some butter and salt and stirred it up. It was PERFECT. Oh and I sprayed a little movie theater butter spritz on it too after it had popped.
That sounds really good...I'm a big fan of butter...lol....I have used the foodi pressure cooker's saute function to pop popcorn a couple of times and it did work well..I have posted a link to a video I have of the Foodi Grill that does it well also ...thanks and thank you for watching!

what time do you think it would take to get the Steak with no pink....MY Friend likes well done!
I would go by temp rather than time... if you have a instant read thermometer look for 160 to 170... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
Can you put something underneath the broiler plate while your cooking something on top of it? Say for instance potatoes for steak and potatoes? Or would that be inadvisable?
I have a video of where I do exactly that in the Ninja Foodi...I feel positive it will work just as well in the Duo crisp... honestly all my Ninja recipes will add fat as I know... here is a link to my all time favorite recipe... thanks for watching!!!

Please let us know the brand and model of the temp probe you are using
I use a wireless device called a Meater made by apption labs and a Thermapen MK4 made by Thermoworks... thanks for watching!!!
Have you seared the sous vide cooked steaks with air fry?
I have not tried that but it might be a good idea... thanks for watching!!!
Hi John, Do you like the steak off the Instant Pot better than off the BBQ?
That is a good question...I do sometimes because I grill so much on charcoal I get a little tired of the flavor sometimes and it is nice to get a change...thanks for watching!
What kind of meter is that? I want to get one!
It is actually called a Meater and if you Google "Meater wireless thermometer" you can find it...thanks for watching!!!
why did you use broil function instead of air fryer function? what would be difference for the cooked steak using these two different functions? some people use air fryer function to cook steak. soon im gonna get my ip duo crisp. so im trying to figure out how to cook steak ?
Most air fryers go to their highest available temp in the broil mode... which is sometimes 50 degrees hotter than the highest air fry setting...
I noticed the temperature is lower than Ninja Foodi. Is it still good enough for broiling meat?
Yes... it did a very good job on this steak as it has more than once here... it does an excellent job ..thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Thank you for the reply! I just subscribed as well I am new to your channel but it is very helpful so far.
You can only make 1 steak at a time? Is this the 8 qt?
That would depend on size but a large steak will use up most of the area...thanks for watching!!
How do you compare it to the new Ninja Foodie.. I just got the new Ninja Foodie...8qt.. new model. I'm not for sure but I like my foodie John.. what do you think???
The Foodi is an excellent machine and I have nothing bad to say about it...the only difference that matters is the lid design...you can even exchange most recipes...you will love the deluxe!!...hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I love my Foodi too. But these appliances are so close to each other, it wouldn’t surprise me if Ninja isn’t licensing the design to the other sellers. Even the display and buttons are closely similar.
The problem with the IP Duo Crisp is that the surface area of the frying plate is so small! A T-bone steak doesn't fit in there
It is limited as many air fryers... and the best answer in my opinion is the indoor grill or an air frying oven... otherwise a Ribeye, new York strip, filet mignon or a fairly small t- bone... you do have a point though and thanks for sharing that and for watching my video!!!
@@JohnSanders Thanks for your suggestions. I usually cook ribeye in my IP Duo Crisp but I'm considering getting an indoor grill for bigger pieces. Love your videos!
Your welcome... the grill is a really neat device...thanks for watching!!
Im really new at this air frying. You have put the air fryer pot inside the stainless pot--do you need water in the stainless even tho’ youre airfrying? I am disappointed in the air fryer directions that came with the Instant Pot Pro Lots of directions for the pressure cooking. Not so much for air frying--and that is what is NEW. I have had the instant Pot Ultra for several years.
What brand of ghee is this
I can't remember but I have saw several kinds...I'll try to look next time I'm near it...thanks for watching!
If you look at the crust, there is almost no crust, was hoping to se ebetter results.
Do you like this better than your ninja?
They are both excellent machines and the main difference is the lid design...everything else is pretty close to identical in function...thanks for watching!
Add links to the products you use...
I may do that before long but decided against it for now... did you have one on mind that I can tell you where I got it?
@@JohnSanders I liked the thermometer you were using. The user previous to my comment had you post it and I just bought one... And I just bought an Instapot brand Air Fryer as well.
I honestly think you will be pleased with both items...thanks for watching!!!
Why wouldn't you just use the sous vide function? I
I do sometimes but this is just another method that works well also... Thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders I have been looking for an air fryer/pressure cooker combo for my mom and I liked that this has a sous vide feature. I still prefer cooking on my Traeger though.
What if i dont like my meat raw?
Just add some time and use an instant read thermometer...thanks for watching!!!
I like mine mooing 🐄
I know you love your thermometers, but not everyone can afford them. You should at least give times. No idea what time you flipped it, no idea how long you cooked it? I understand that every cook will be different, but this hasn't helped me.
Mine are rather pricey but you really can get ones that do really close to just as good at Walmart for around 15 dollars...I recommend them over using times very much...
What kind of thermometer is that?
The wireless one is a Meater made by Apption Labs...I love it but some have reported connection issues lately and I did have some issues myself over the holidays...maybe an update will fix but just be aware...thanks for watching!
