  • Caro-kann players like control. If white plays this way there's no control. It's pure madness and only calculation matters. I was out of book and didn't know how to develop very early on. I'd messed up and my opponent was in full control of the position.

When he said "I don't have any more coffee," I felt that.

19:05 "I don't have any more coffee, I just took an empty sip." All true coffee drinkers have been there. 😄

I like to play the Rasa-Studier Gambit when I’m white and I face the Caro-Kann. 3.Nc3 dxe5 4. f3 exf3 5. Nxf3 Nf6. Transposing into the Blackmar-Diemer gambit accepted(I think?) and even though the engine kinda hates it, The databases tell a different story.

6:24 Does Nf2+ not work in this Qa5 sequence after a potential Kd1 after Qxc3+?
    1. Qa5 Qxg7 2. Qxc3+ Kd1 3. Nf2+ Ke2 4. Qxc2+? then up a pawn after potential rook trade? since Qxc2 protects my pawn on h7?
Maybe. I gotta look at THE ENGINE

26:00 if Qf3, b6 anyways. If white plays c4, you can go Bb7. He cant take on d5 because you take with the bishop, threaten both the queen and the g2 square taking the rook on h1. Maybe he can just not take but he would have to do something about the diagonal or whatever

From a Caro, you transposed to some kind of French Winawer, the most chaotic opening.

to be honest I hate to play positions like this where my king is unsafe and everything is pinned. good job finding the way out of there.

32:48 Nf4 with apparent fork is not a threat because Black replies with Qg4+, getting the Q out of the attack.
