    to anyone interest in a random persons take story and take on them. i bought a set for a kind of junk keybaord i was modding out just for some fun. but when i got them and tried them out i ended up trying them in my hi75 instead. and they blew me out of the water not only are they fun to use and my new favorite heavy tactile switch. but they add a nice bit of chalkyness to the build with just the right amount of clack for me. and it really makes this budget board feel like an endgame build. couldn't recommend trying these switches more. they feel like an evolution in the tactile switch scean and i couldnt be happier with them

    I just built my Thera v2 with lubed KTT monochrome chalks and love them. The only thing about them is the plastic legs that go through the PCB are thinner than most of my other switches, so using them to build a plateless soldered build was a little annoying to make sure I had them seated where they weren't crooked. Not sure if the others in the monochrome series have the same sized legs but just something to point out, although it shouldn't be an issue for builds with plates.

      Ooh interesting! Yeah now that you mention it, measured with my calipers and KTT legs were 1.49 mm while durock was 1.59, which is a huge difference when considering the tolerances on the PCB… never even thought to check that!

    The only KTT switch I've tried are the KTT roses, and they're great. Seriously the best budget switch I've used. They are super tight, to the point that they won't even close with films, and while not the smoothest stock, with a bit of lube they are more than good enough. Plus, they have a really nice sound that you wouldn't expect from a switch at that price.

      Right?!! I was shocked that these switches and KTT in general are not more popular!

    I use KTT strawberries on my ikki68 and it sounds pretty good and also pretty smooth (prelubed factory). It has a loud sound. One downside is the switch is kinda hard to open. Hope you can make a video on them!

    Some soundtests with keycaps such as Shenpo, 21kb, or PBTfans would be nice.

    • @MakerMods
      @MakerMods  Рік тому

      I haven't tried the cotton candy switches myself, but if you're talking about the loobedswitches switch, then I'd expect the onyx to be WAY more tactile just based on the description!

    Thoughts on the tactile bump vs. Anubis? I enjoy my Anubis but I tend to use my U4T with Hyperglide bottoms more as I like that slightly lighter feel.

    • @MakerMods
      @MakerMods  Рік тому +2

      Because of the initial bump on the onyx, they feel way more tactile than both the Anubis and the u4t! They are lighter, and I haven’t tried spring swapping them because I personally prefer the lighter actuation! Never tried U4T’s with hyper glide bottoms, but that sounds like an interesting switch!

    • @MakerMods
      @MakerMods  Рік тому +1

      Haha, thanks! Some are definitely more corny than others, but I’m glad I can make you laugh :D so you’re looking for a snappy, muted/deep tactile with a medium sized bump? Does it have to be box switch or just with a dust proof stem?
