Even though I don't own a UDO Super-6, I am very encouraged by this update; I hope other manufacturers will follow suit. Absolutely no excuse that the Moog Muse doesn't have polyAT.
Thanks for doing this, a helpful companion to the very-good instructions provided. Just did mine, took about half an hour. Top tip for getting the sticker on straight - use some masking tape to mark out temporary alignment lines.
This had AT just not poly. I like it, but can take it or leave it tbh. It really depends on how you’re going to use the synth. Thought a lot about this upgrade.
Just completed my install of this a few minutes ago, and while it was not especially difficult I did make an error, that I wanted to post here so folks could avoid doing what I did. My error came at the point that one is to reconnect the new keyboard action ribbon cable into the large multi-pin connecter and then connect back into the adapter on top, the connector that runs to the boards on the lid. My mistake was that in order to have both hands free to make this connection I opened the lid and allowed it to rest on a backstop behind where I was working, and possibly a bit past 90 degrees. I did not realize that the lid hinges on bent metal tabs from the lid into slot holes on the main chassis, and so they slipped out on the left side, although I was not aware of it. I discovered this when I went to replace the side retaining screws, where it went in correctly on the right hand side, but would not on the left. I opened up to see that those had slipped out, and put them back, not thinking too much of it, however, once I had everything back together, and was going to plug up on the back, I noticed the screen-printing where it says "Pedals" and then another spot by the farthest left hinge had scratched the finish off where the hinges had popped out. I assume George would approve that my synth now looks more punk, but anyway, that section of the instructions says, "with the lid open" but if you need both hands I suggest you get someone to help hold the lid only partially open, or find some other means of stabilizing the lid, but do not open wide.
Good stuff Starsky, I love instrument repair videos like this. I've been watching Brad, "Thr Guitologist" for years and years. Electric instruments and Amps etc inards are super fascinating. I love a good PCB board. I've even been known to watch a Louis Rossman video on occasion to get my fix. Well done sir.
I think it's an good thing that companies give us to possibility to upgrade their products and not be obliged to buy "the new MK2 with Poly AT!". Better for our wallet and maybe better for the planet. In a perfect world you should have the possibility to send back the old keyboard ensemble to the company in order to use it, partly or not, for other things.
Not a bad process!! It's not much worse than popping a Sequential voice expansion in or something like that. Nice work! Lots of room in that case. Makes me want to crack open my Gemini, and see what it looks like in there. :) (I haven't seen any pics of it online yet, so may have to investigate...) I hope Groove offers a similar upgrade for the 3rd Wave. I know that it's been talked about quite a bit, but I'd love to see it. I eventually want to get another 3rd Wave, and it would be cool if it was either already upgraded to Poly AT, or at least an option.
I didn't know they were going to do this. I don't have a Super-6 (still got my eye on the Gemini if my ship comes in) but this upgrade looks like a no-brainer for anyone who owns one.
Great that this is available now. Although I wonder if perhaps it should be a standard feature. 400+ £ is a lot to spend when you've already dropped significant cash on a udo. Or is this just me because I'm broke?
Given what can be had in mint condition used those who do not already own one of these could consider a desktop model + hydrasynth for only a bit more...

I agree that was a big miss by Moog

Now you tell me 😂
Few companies are forward thinking like UDO. Bravo !!!
i find it hilarious that you can take all that apart... then put on a slightly bent sticky. great vid.
AT should be available on EVERY synth. It’s a very important feature

Thank you very much! Now, I'm more motivated to add the pa-kb to my Super 6.
And Bravo to UDO to offer this upgrade!

That’s the bit I thought 3 hands would be useful!
Wish other manufacturers could release polyAT upgrades...
This is great, thanks so much for sharing
I have the super Gemini and I’m having the best time of my’ life
Thanks for this vid. I think I stick to the old keybed which feels still good enough for me. But it is a very helpful video when I change my mind.
I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for this video!! THANK YOU!! 🙏🏾

thanks for doing it. Monday will my key here , its a bit better to understand..so thanks for your work
Ocd sticker placement nightmares included with purchase 😂 looks pretty easy to install kind of regretting selling my super 6 lol

Afraid to see what these are going to resell for now
My favorite part was the sticker. I had the exact same thoughts lol. I decided not to put it on there.
😂😂🤦♂️
Easier than replacing the touch screen on my Korg M3!
Does it feel different to the original keyboard? Thanks
sound demos starksy! sound demooooooooossss
I’d have to learn how to play poly aftertouch stylie!! I have difficulty enough with velocity 😂👍
Given what can be had in mint condition used those who do not already own one of these could consider a desktop model + hydrasynth for only a bit more...
Is there a difference in the keybed itself? Weight measurement?
Not really. It feels similar. But I’ve only been messing with the aftertouch response and previously I even had velocity turned off on most patches!
The ST49 keyboard is weighted also
You inadvertently forgot the washers in the underneath new Screws, you can still put them back
Thanks, just checked and they’re on. Must be a trick of the camera.
@@StarskyCarr Sorry, it was a very good video just wish other companies done things like your Keyboard
So, this is an official keyboard update or aftermarket? 😮
The manual seems signed "UDO" so I assume it's an official upgrade
Still pining for a blue Super 8.
I’d go with the 8 if I didn’t have the 6 already. I like the ratios more.
"Juat" @ 0:40. Get 2 other eyes watch the video, like it's always better to have a mastering engineer behind the mixing one.
Haha… yeah like anyone would do that. 😂 mastering engineers get paid! My videos are littered with things like this 🙄🧐🤷♂️😂
