I was about 6 yrs old when I saw Christopher Reeve fly in a movie theater with my dad. When Supergirl came out I am now a father of 2 girls and they were glued to the TV. Thank you Melissa for giving me that experience.
I absolutely love Melissa Benoist, she’s just so real and genuine and I could honestly watch her for hours. Both my favourite shows are Supergirl and glee and I love her in both of them
I’m actually going to cry. I’ve been such a fan of hers since Glee and its so nice to see people acknowledge and ask her about it (respectfully, given what she went through) ❤ Awesome interview!
Great interview. I’m always so intrigued by her perspective. Love how Melissa said rehearsal is her favorite part of the process because cast members have said she could glance at a giant monologue in a script and just have it ready immediately. She learns fast, but loves to harness as much artistic potential from it.
I love her, she will be forever my supergirl. I hope Girls on the Bus finds a new home, it show has potential and the dynamic between the four ladies is amazing.
I really wish it would have a new home only that is never going to happen. Max was the Hail Mary to begin with. They didn't want it there, it was supposed to be on the CW as part of their new line up, only that feel through because of the time slot didn't really fit the demographic they were shooting for. So then it got bounced around to Net Flix who actually bit and showed interest but Warner owned some rights and blocked it. So Max was the compromise. Max just doesn't have the viewers the show shoots for, was not going to work and they knew it. But unless Warner releases their rights, I don't see it going anywhere else
She looks absolutely beautiful. I think the “creator” def tried to sabotage her character on glee and after everything was said , I was just proud of her to go to supergirl and still find herself working. She looks like she’s doing so well & she’s always been such a charm. Adore the girl and glad many still look forward to seeing her!
The show was hard to sell. People on US don't live politics like Latinoamerica. Also, the scripts doesn't try to do a social critic. I feel more like "you are guilty". The scripts need more attention. The actors were great, and have a chemistry.
I am a fan of Melissa, didn't see her in Glee but all episodes of Supergirl , the movie Sundogs & of course - Girls on the Bus . A fine actress & also a good mother.
Thank you for this fantastic interview! Thank you for asking postive, thoughtful and enlightening questions that actually help us learn more about the industry, the actor's and producer's process, and more about Melissa. I especially appreciate the questions and prompts about learning from past experiences, going forward and supporting each other. 👏👏👏
Collider Ladies Night always exudes positive vibes and this video especially so. I was introduced to Melissa in Glee but didn't truly appreciate her until Supergirl. However, I'm always rooting for her now.
It was great to hear shout out to John Basil by Melissa. He is an incredible teacher and director, and was a mentor to me many years ago also. Sadly, he passed away last month.
7:40 On a similar topic to Hook, I watched Pan in theaters back in 2015 when I was 22. It was such a disaster that completely missed the point of Peter Pan, but right as it cut to black the credits started, there was one little girl who said in complete awe, "That was amazing!" That reaction made me smile and immediately took me back to my first time watching movies like Treasure Planet that meant so much to me. As bad as Pan was to people like me, it made such a impression on that girl that she'll probably remember forever. Melissa Benoit's experience with Hook made me think about how that girl had something very similar to her with Pan despite the fact that many consider to be a lesser movie.
I absolutely adore Melissa! I loved her as Supergirl! She did such an amazing job in that role! I know Hollywood makes their own choices, but I wish she would be the cinema Supergirl. I also love her singing. I've been into music since I was a kid, and love listening to Melissa sing! She is such a talented actress and singer. She was amazing in Glee! I also think that she is such a down to earth and sweet person! I will always be a fan of hers! I also know that she went through some difficult times a long time ago, and amd so glad that she has a good husband and sweet baby now!😍😍😍❤❤❤
Great interview! Great questions! Loved everything about it. I definitely will be subscribing and keeping up with your show ❤️ Melissa is a wonderful human, wishing her the best!
I went from a "hater" (not really, just didn't like her character) in Glee to a huge fan in Supergirl. The range of annoying puppy girl to action hero is huge
Really? You were surprised a series adapted from a book written by a scribe who followed around a wildly unpopular and condescending Hillary Clinton and propagates a simplified grotesquely naive lionized 1940s DC Comics view of journalism and repeats NYC/DC/LA neoliberal bubble views of politics aired on Max the streaming service brought to us by the people who own CNN didn't resonate with audiences and was cancelled? What exactly was supposed to be the entertainment or informational value of this series? Episode 5 of a 10 episode series opens with full frontal male nudity, did that not clue anyone in charge of this series that the story is empty and the plot is hollow?

Great interview Perri and loved you having Melissa on there.

She is TOO talented for these garbage roles she been getting. 😢 the writing can’t even support her actual skills💔💔💔💔
