Kids today do not know the anticipation and excitement when these Christmas shows came on. I remember my mom fixing popcorn and my brothers and sister watched this. I’m 58 years old and I continue to watch it faithfully each year❤
I'm 56 years old and this movie makes me cry. Every. Single. Time. I remember watching it with my grandparents when I was little and that memory is etched in my soul. I miss them dearly but the love they showed me lives on.
I do too and I'm 60 but I cry because He was sent here to die to win us back to the father. Your memories are precious and your grandparents passed down their live in the form of this movie but for me it is spiritual with meaning. We need Christ on this earth now more than ever as the new generation is preventing everything that us baby boomers were taught. God help them to see You and to come to You for help and guidance
I'm 72 years old now and still love this movie. Watched it since it first aired. It's Christmas tradition. Thank you for posting this gem for us to enjoy.
I was a child about 7 in second grade in a Catholic Elementary School. And the Nuns played this movie for us around Christmas time. I'm 70 going on 71 and I still remember the wonderful feeling of hearing that song. Just Beautiful
Gets me everytime. My thoughts and worry is over my children and grandchildren We must look to God with faith and trust and he will see us through. Believe that. ❤
This classic needs to be restored and preserved. Among the Christmas classics, this one is mostly forgotten about. The beautiful soundtrack of the Vienna Boys Choir has survived the test of time, but the Little Drummer Boy program hasn't and has been forgotten and lost to obscurity.
Did you know? "The Little Drummer Boy, a beloved Christmas special, faced accusations of offensive content due to its villainous portrayal of Arab characters. The controversy against the special has been ongoing since the '90s, with some viewers calling out the racist portrayal and stereotypical charges against Arab people." Sep 30, 2023
I just turned 60 and I still remember watching this as a little girl and oh how I sobbed when the lamb, Baba was hurt. Still gets to me, every, single time.😢
Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without watching these movies. Thank you for uploading them. I truly wish that I could turn back time, because I'd love nothing more than to have my mom back, so that her, my sister and myself could be together, drinking hot cocoa and eating her delicious Christmas cookies, and watching every single Christmas movie.

Another year almost gone. I'm 56 now and i look back at these Christmas special and i you cry. God bless you all and may you all have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Well...I guess I'm gonna do THIS to myself AGAIN. I got the tissues out because I can remember crying when the lamb gets run over and hearing my Mom in my mind saying "Bobby..don't cry..remember..baby Jesus brings him back to life" Every single year. Ok....I'm ready now...I got the first tear out already. I miss my Mom..I'm happy I can still hear her voice in my mind.
I’m glad to see at the tender age of 60 that I’m not the only one who cried when they first saw this Rankin & Bass production. I was 4 years old when it came out in December of 1968. I was watching it in the den of the house I grew up in in a console TV ( that was a TV that was built into a piece of furniture for all you young folk ). I watched quietly. Then when it was over I got up and just as quietly walked out of the den into our living room which was a more formal place than the den designed for guests. There was a couch there as well and I sat down on that and I began to cry. I guess my mom eventually heard me and came to see what was the matter. I eventually told her that Baba died….why did he have to die? And mom hugged me and said “Didn’t you see that he came back to life?” I told her yes but it was still such a traumatic thing to see Baba run over by the cart driven by the Roman Centurion. I guess I equated Baba as being Aaron’s version of a pet dog. And my best and only friend at 4 years of age was my dog Joe, an English Setter. I couldn’t stand to think of Joe being injured like Baba. So the tears flowed: Now, 56 years later I cry seeing this again because I understand the symbolism behind the story. Just as Jesus was crucified by the Romans and also as the sacrificial Lamb of God for the sins of not just His people but for the whole world so too was Baba, the little lamb, run over by a Roman, never knowing what he had just done, which reminds us now of Jesus’s words from the Cross, “Forgive them Father, for they no not what they do.” And maybe, just maybe, that was what REALLY animated me all those decades ago. My child-like mind could only equate it to my beloved companion, my best friend, the family dog, Joe. Because the Spirit of God meets us where we are physically and mentally at any given time. Then as we grow older, acquiring more knowledge and wisdom along the way, when we are confronted again with something like this show we now understand the deeper meaning behind it. That is what we call…. ”revelation”.
@DannyStrickland-g9k I'm 61. I, too, remember that deep feeling of loss. The tears fell copiously. The pain was deep. Every year, this was -the- show I looked forward to, even knowing what would happen to Baba. And then --we grow up. The rich symbolism, if allowed to germinate, becomes a reality intertwined into the fabric of our lives. Believing in that very real, "Blessed Hope" we have in our adult lives. As you said perfectly, Revelation. All the sad times, the happy times, the gains, the losses, brought to Him. It changes everything, doesn't it? He changes everything. Merry Christmas, may God bless you and yours this holiday season. He IS the reason for the season. Much love in Christ.
Danny, This comment touched my soul. Thank you friend. I can just see it now, the scene you set up. In the den with the big ole tv, just like me when I was little girl. I appreciate your views. Agree 100%. Peace
I have watched this show my whole life!!! It means the world to me!!! I still get goosebumps every time I watch it!!! Happy Holidays To All!!! God Bless Us All!!!
I'll be 60 in 10 days and have been watching this and all the Christmas stories B4 I came out of the womb. Haven't missed a year yet. This however, is one of my favorites
I always loved this when I was little. I watched it and the selfish giant every Christmas season until one day they were gone, to be never shown again on public broadcasting. I missed them so much after all these years. My heart is so happy to find the both of them again. Thank you, God bless and Happy birthday my dear Lord Jesus.
I remember I first saw this in my kindergarten class and it was like I had an epiphany. I then watched it every year and I vividly remember one particular year when I was about 12, at the end when he plays the drum for baby Jesus I started profusely crying. Each time I watch this one I cry. There is such an underlying religious tone to this one. The ending song with the choir also makes me even more emotional. One of my all time favs.

I’m 76 now, and I still shed tears watching the Little Drummer Boy….watched it when it first showed up and still love watching it. It will always be my favorite of all the Christmas videos… it says volumes on what Christmas means and is all about….LOVE and Jesus’ BIRTH. It doesn’t matter what day Jesus was born, but what matters is that Jesus is here, and taught us on how to become better people towards each other…👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😂
It seems that today's Christmas movies and music is absent of true Spirit. But those involved with the production of these songs/shows are temporarily lost. I wish for everyone to experience the joy and love that resides right in our hearts.
It’s still a grown up story for kids! And a kid’s story for grown ups! One of my first musical inspirations! Thank you for sharing this!! “Peace on earth and good will toward men.”!! For everyone!!

I'm a 66 year old lady and I love watching this movie. I remember telling my mother: " Mom the little drummer boy " movie will play tonight, and she would get so excited and said: ok will watch it tonight " Mom and dad are gone now, but those memories will live on this me. I miss Mom and dad but every time I watch this movie I think of them. Those are the things that mean a lot to a child and a young person. Merry Christmas to all of you Jug your kid and parents because they won't be here for ever.
Wow, I remember watching this as a kid a couple times and it was one of my favourites but it didn't come back on. I forgotten about it until just now.and I am excited to see it once again. 50 years is a long time between views. The symbolism I never noticed as a kid, but the Donkey and Lamb I see now.
This is the Holiday Season. Holy Day being shortened to Holiday. A curious bit of trivia. There is a DIRECT connection with “The Little Drummer Boy” and a MASH episode from December of 1974. It revolved around two story arcs. One involving Ted Eccles character Private Chapman who Hawkeye and Trapper John discovered had shot himself in order to get sent back home. However, Radar was having none of it. So the gang devised a mad-cap scheme to save the lamb from being served for dinner and secretly got it flown back to the States to live on Radar’s family farm. And although the episode was set during Easter it was actually first aired on December 31, 1974 right after Christmas. I wasn’t watching MASH that early on so I don’t know if during the Christmas season of 1974 that one could have seen Ted Eccles as Aaron in the Ltittle Drummer Boy and then just a couple of weeks later see him again as Private Chapman on a MASH episode involving a lamb about to be eaten as part of a Greek Easter meal but there you go, The Little Drummer Boy and Baba meet again….in South Korea !
A classic Rankin/Bass holiday special! Teddy Eccles voices the title character, with narration by legendary actress Greer Garson and Jose Ferrer as the voice of Ben. The finale is very moving, with the Baby Jesus(the Lamb of God) healing Baba(Aaron's pet lamb) of his injuries.

At 49, my favorite Christmas show still. I bought the DVD years ago so my kids could watch it since it wasn’t shown on tv anymore.
This movie has always been one of my favorites I miss seeing it on TV
I' m. 71 and still watch this movie. Me and my mom always watched this when I was a child.
Many thanks! This is my favorite among all the Rankin / Bass; it is so perfect.
This is a true Christmas classic. It was made before I was born, and I've always loved watching it every Christmas.🎄 ♥️ The true meaning of Christmas.
I cry whenever I watch this. For they shall see God❤
he was poor boy; he had nothing to give but his talent to baby Jesus. And that was enough. 😢☹😑😯😲😳🙂😊😇🥰👃👃
I 56 & I couldn't wait till the drummer boy came on. Brings bad soo many memories
Thank you ❤️✝️🙏🏻
I saw this for the first time as a child (I'm 62) before it was available on television at a local town library. Loved it then and still love it!
I am the way the truth and the life no man comes to the father but through me john 14 :6
Younger than a lot of people. 34. I remember these and other movies on the 25 days of Christmas. This is my grandmas favorite, and we’d watch it every year.
I too feel the same emotions of joy and forgiveness for the people who have wronged me.
This movie is my childhood, even though I was born in 94. I fell in love with it and still love it even now.
Best of all time classics!❤
