Join us for an endurance ride conditioning ride at Pleasant Creek State Park in Iowa, USA. We are training to do a 25 mile Limited Distance Endurance ride. Sunny braved many obstacles during this ride and was such a good boy! Check out Horse Bums at horsebums.com to find some amazing horse saddle packs that are hand made by one very talented lady! Help support her small business! Also check out Easyboot for some great hoof boots, Freedman's Jods to find the riding breeches I'm wearing, Toklat endurance saddle pads, and Knotty Girlz for hand made rope halters. I am not sponsored by any of these brands; I just really like their quality products! Our goal is to ride the Tevis Cup 100 mile Endurance Ride one day! Join us on our journey to 100 miles!
Check out Earth and Medicine Equestrian for more videos about my life with horses-- including horse riding videos, endurance riding, horse training videos, full hoof trim videos, horse barn vlogs, horse yard vlogs, my barn routines, what I feed my horses, horse shopping haul videos, tack room organizes and clean outs, galloping my horses, and groundwork videos for starting colts. I also show lots of DIY horse projects including how to make horse jumps, how to make horse jump poles, and many other barn projects!

Hi there! Thank you! I am also brand new to endurance riding, this is my first year! I have completed 2 limited distance rides so far, one 25 miler and one 20 miler. I started doing slow rides several times per week out on the dirt roads, alternating walking and trotting for about 3 to 5 miles for a few weeks. Then I would increase the distance to about 3-5 miles trotting and one longer ride, maybe 8 to 10 miles of walk and trot for a few weeks. I felt my pony was tolerating this pretty well so I tried a longer ride of 15 miles walking and trotting and he did pretty well, so we did an intro ride and had a great time! I kept riding several times per week, varying speed and distance. Then I increased my long ride to 18 miles, mostly trotting with some walking and eating breaks. I made sure to do loops back to the barn so he could learn that he needed to replenish himself with water and food when it was offered, and that just because we were back at the barn it didn't mean we were done. I think it takes a while to build up their psychological tolerance of so many miles. Let me know how your journey is going!
