+Amberkae Decory Hi Amber I worked with Arnie about 10 years on the MN Zephyr And we shared a lot of things
.Arnie sure was fond of your Mom's "dirty rice". I attended his retirement party. Sure miss him. I retired off the RR after 46 years before starting on the Zephyr. Hope all is well with you and your Mom. I'm in AZ now and will be back in MN in May

My girlfriend and I had such a wonderful experience on that train. We were seated in the lower part of the old Southern Pacific 3/4 dome car, less phobic. The dinner was good and the folks we were seated with were very pleasant. When the train stopped to do the return, the engineer walked through the passenger cars. When he came by, we asked if we could see the engine. He said "Follow me!", and we were allowed to spend the trip back to Stillwater in the cab of an F7 locomotive #787. My better have actually was able to adjust the speed and blow the horn. We saw a possum cross the tracks in front of us, but since the train only went 3-4 mph the speedy little marsupial was able to get out of the way. We have great pictures and fond memories of our trip on the Zephyr. I still occasionally play a Zephyr Caberet CD. They were very entertaining.

I remember riding this train when I was young, I rode on it twice, it was a great experience and I'm really sad that the train doesn't run anymore😥

No it wasn't, you have your dates mixed up, the 3600 Series 3/4 length dome lounge was built in Sacramento California After the Second World War, and Amtrak wasn't until After 1971, You better get your dates right.

I kick myself for not riding it while it was around. I was a lazy teenager in its final years.

What's the asking price for the Zephyr property and building? When did the kitchen get updated?

Saddening that the owner sold the line to the state. It's odd that the state wanted the rail line so badly just so they could turn into a tax-subsidized, tax maintained trail! At least the cars and locomotives are going to another rail related business.

Then why are your trying to sell the Zephyr? I saw the add for it and or the seperate cars on Ozark Mountain Railcar.

As visually entertaining as this is, the narrator needs to get many of his 'facts" right.
    1. The Stillwater Lift Bridge was not built in the 1800s; it was built in the 1920s.
    2. It wasn't the 21st Century they were leaving; it was the 20th.
    3. Amtrak didn't even exist until the 1970s.
