I just finished this wonderful read. All the terms apply, clever, witty, engaging, the list goes on. His characters all can stand alone, but their interface with each other is superb. For all the plot cleverness and detailed development, the standout for me was the love between Elizabeth and Steven, to the end. The words crafted around this will give you tears. My favorite author, I can't wait for the next one.
I absolutely love this series! Crime novels are not what takes up space in my bookshelfs but I will fill it with everything Mr.Osman writes because it is just brilliant. I feel so close to the characters, they feel like my book grandparents! I laugh and I cry and the only thing I do not like is that the books are so good,I read them in two days flat! The last devil to die is written so beautifully and respectful with regards to dementia, one can really tell this meant something to the author.
I have forty pages left to read. Your analysis of the nursing home/dementia dilemma really touched me. Yes I have had the experience and would not wish on anyone. I was so glad that Stephen and Elizabeth could find a solution. I must admit I felt a little sad the day I read that chapter. How your characters resonate. And like always a lot of laughs. Thank you.
I have read all 3 books, and can't wait to go to the book shop on Thursday morning to pick up my copy, I love the way Richard has keep us all wanting more, the 5th installment sounds great, I look forward to getting my nose stuck into that 😊 well done Richard I think your great x
Currently reading this and find it to be the best written of the four novels. I thoroughly enjoyed the first three but I wouldn’t refer to them as literary. There’s a literary quality to this current book that has a depth to it, and a poignancy I find quite compelling.
Interesting. I live in a retirement village and excitedly took Richard's first book from our library. I found it predictable and boring, as did many of us! You should come to our village if you want some real stories!!! We are in Australia.
I don’t live in a retirement village but I thought the same, so does my wife. He’s hardly Agatha Christie and wouldn’t have got a book deal if he wasn’t already famous.
I completely disagree. I heartily enjoyed all the books. But you can’t please all the people all the time, so you’ll have to move on to something that’s more to your taste.
Thank you, Mr. Osman, for some of the most fun reads I've found in recent years. Looking forward to getting the latest book.

RICHARD OSMAN IS BACK! I have the trilogy and I’m happy to hear there’s a 4th book.

I am halfway through the fourth book and realise what the fox means on the covers. Funny, sad brilliant writing.
I really can't wait for the film/s. Spielberg better do it/them justice!!
I have all 4 books and I love them. 💓📚
Yes I enjoyed the books, but I'd prefer he read them himself on Audible

And the question was: lie harder?
