This song is a masterpiece, it should deserve much more recognition
I can’t listen to this album without singing along. My brother played it in our home when I was a toddler.
1984 was THE year of 80's! Unmatched in Music
One of the best Alphavillee Songs. Thanks for reacting
This is one of the best songs ever made !!
The build up in this song is just amazing
Super muza 👍😃
Alphaville my childhood
The best
Alphaville, like A-ha, was in my favourites selection in the 80s - I have these albums and play them to this day! So talented.
For the most part, this song is still unmatched. There were many electropop bands after Depeche Mode and Alphaville. Almost all of them couldn't hold a candle to them. This is mainly due to Marian Gold's incredible voice and range. But the production here is also absolutely at a high-end level in terms of sound.
Camaflouge was a German 80s synth pop band. Voices and Images is a great band. They sound kind of like Depeche Mode.
@markusantonio4866 Yes, of course I know and I also like very much. But vocally, they can't quite keep up with the big ones.
The work on the sound is absolutely fabulous !!!!
Marian die Tiefe Stimme zuerst und dann 8 Oktave hoch ❤wie geil😍😍👍🤘
Always loved this album opener as well as its follower 'Summer in Berlin".Both Dramatic and atmospheric.Unfortunately the album missed 'Seeds".A burried diamond that only managed the b' side to the 'Big in Japan" single.
and Nelson Highrise and Golden Feeling too
Check out Jerusalem and Lassie come home by Alphaville the are pure Gold
A very underrated song, I'm glad you could listen to it.
Tell me about it... they did not even make a video. But the vocals are incredible from so deep to super high pitch!
@@DavidOrensanzThey didn't make a video because it is The Prologue song of the album.
discovering this today, well damn amazing stuff, shivers, jaw dropping stuff
Alphaville and Aha , the 2 greats. It dosent get better than these 2. 😀❤️🌠
This is the first reaction I've seen from You. If you want a base of people that want to support You long term, be real
My favourite Alphaville song ever! Finally! :)
I love 'Big in Japan' but this song I love loads.
I am a huge Alphaville fan. And yes the group went through many changes member-wise throughout the years, you were listening to the group at their earliest when it was Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd, and Frank Merten. Some other interesting tidbits - none of them were formally musically trained when they composed this first album. I remember them saying that everything is basically crafted from trial and error on synths and drum machines! For a group of people who weren't even musically trained to be able to create such a perfect synth tune, that's just astounding to me...
Their second album is even better, 'Afternoon in Utopia' is still imho their best effort. By then Frank Merten has left, and Ricky Echolette joined, later on Ricky would leave the group too and Alphaville remained a duo in the studio, and then Marian Gold would tour with a live band that he formed. And that brings us up to today when Alphaville is basically a live band with the original singer still intact (and the live band having also gone through a bunch of changes due to unfortunate circumstances).
What an amazing tune!!!
Alphaville the nr.1 group of the 80's
The song of my childhood and I’m still loving it!
This Song , victory of Love is Epic , Powerful, Theatrical, Synth heaven, and very unique. I love the way towards the end , the music gets faster and Faster . Its a one off. Fabulous. I adore it. Marian Golds voice is so beautiful, he can do any vocal . ❤️😀🌠🎵❤️
Great reaction of a fantastic song! Synths, vocals, structure of tte song is just awesome!
He finally reacted to it ! Next "Summer in Berlin", "Next Generation" and "Jerusalem"
Absolutely love Alphaville, have you heard their live rock version and symphonic version of the same song like three totally different songs, we are off to Germany in August to see them perform, can't wait, take care, Gez.😊😊
I always loved this song and Alpha Ville. Great reaction! I can totally agree on the goosebumps, I remember feeling the same hearing it the first time
Love, love your reactions my dear Dereck
introduced to you via the sublime Abba, just now been watching your reaction to Should I Laugh Or Cry
..but i notice it's three years old, so not sure if you'll see a comment i leave there
but Thank You Dereck for your superb insights, always so sensitive & perceptive, such passion for music, so intelligent & articulate
& such a very likeable handsome chap too
Thank You Dereck
Nice reaction like usually!
Time to The Jet Set from the same album.
Most of songs of this album was write on orchestra but unfortunately they couldn't record this way on that time but now they record most of them on symphonic orchestra. In 2020
Alphaville is a trio of German origin. The end of the song reminds me of the chorus of the group Secret Service, flash in the night, in fact it could be a suggestion for you.
Already done for Secret Service "Flash In The Night". On the other hand, they gave him the long version of the videoclip but I like it less.
Right!
@@ambrenuance462 Ok, I didn't know, thanks for the information!
@@danguid2753 It was nothing. I don't know if you're French, but the group produced a song in the 80's that was quite "new-wave/synthpop" for a popular French female singer Jakie Quartz at the time : "Vivre Ailleurs/Live Elsewhere" in 1986 which was successful ( no.11 in the TOP 50, sold more than 300,000 copies), which Dereck made in May 2021 and he really appreciated it.
There is even an English version "BB Remember Me" in 7" single and 12" Extended.
I believe the music is slightly different from the French version.
@@ambrenuance462 Yes you are right.
This whole album is absolutely amazing and timeless even after many years and that includes the b-sides singles: Seeds, The Nelson Highrise (Sector 1: The Elevator), Welcome to the Sun and Golden Feeling.
...For me, one of the most essential records of electronic music not only from the 80s.
Best tune on the album.
Best Album ❤
You mentioned diving into The Crmaberries music few months ago i got usome songs to check out: From Cranberries: "animal instinct" , "stars" , "promises" , "dreams" , "wake me when its over"
And from theyre Lead singer Dolores who has released two solo albums: "the journey" , "angel fire" , "when we were young" , "ordinary day"❤
Thanks DR, masterpiece indeed, and here in France a classic 80's. OMD sure, but Ultravox also don't you think ? 😏
Hahaha hadn't yet seen your final recommendation...
Esse música é uma das maravilhas desse mundo!
Nice one, from an underrated band. "To Germany With Love" would be one of their best shots ;)
It’s one of those albums I will listen to from beginning to end, just like I did when I had it on cassette tape. It’s sooo good!
More alphaville reactions please.. check out their other hits too such as "Dance with me" or "Big in japan"
❤❤❤❤❤❤marian Gold
Everything she want's Wham yuo should react,it would be great.Official video!
Please react Alphaville - Romeos. 🎉
This ❤❤
For me Alphaville made the best melody of new wave. What a lyrical capacity and structure. It's a little baroc, but always very sensual. And do you hear the number of octaver of the voice? It's the same between beginning and the end. It's very impressiv because at these time he was young and goes up more! Now, no. He has a big voice and gone down all the tonalities. Time....
💯
Not my favorite Alphaville song but the very first time I heard Marian Gold's lower register. I couldn't believe this was the same guy who sang Forever Young and Big in Japan. Other songs that show off his impressive range are Romeos and Red Rose. A different side of Alphaville is the song For a Million Years, which is wonderfully atmospheric with a beautiful keyboard melody. I also recommend Locusts by A Ha if you want to hear that band in a different element.
Finally someone mention(ed) Romeos... or another great example is The Voyager Demo version... we can not forget about She Fades Away... or diffrent verisions of Jerusalem
alphaville nice
Hello! I’ m french and you must do « le soldat » de Florent Pagny >> it’s very very great
I listened to your video on Daniel Balavoine
He was a magnificent performing producer you should also listen to "la ziza" a superb artist who composes for Céline Dion it's Jean-Jacques Goldman the magnificent single "la bas"!
Or Michel Berger “le paradis blanc” superb single
good listening 😊
From Germany
👍
Pleaase react Alphaville "BIG IN JAPAN" :)
Please react to the Colors of Yame "Bécane" : I think you’ll like😀
How do I propose to you a song that you may be interested in evaluating.?
Please, react to " Les rap tout" of les inconnus
Not bad, i have the Lp. Not my favorite of but fine 😁
Ascolta Gigi D’Agostino l’amour e la passion
Bro please react Cosmo by Soprano in stade de France
Maybe a banana rotten award on cheesy boulevard in bullywood
It's quite flat and boring for me. It looks a bit like Depeche Mode but "low-coast".
Never heard or even seen the videoclip and neither released nor classified in France in our Top 50.
The clip apparently exists, I didn't understand why it wasn't chosen.
I prefer "Big In Japan" from 1984 (covered the same year by the German female singer Sandra but in German), I still can't understand why it wasn't made on your channel.
A huge hit at the time and much better than this one!
