I wish you well for the future, you're honestly the best channel in our niche, I learnt a lot thanks to you and feel more confident throwing myself in my own youtube journey. I just signed up. I would like to think you'd be somewhat proud of me lol. It took almost 2 years to get monetized then something clicked and with your help, I have gained over 650 subscribers and a ton more views in slightly over 2 months. Now I'm going back to all my old videos and optimizing them with my newfound knowledge (again, thanks to you Ed). My new goal is to get 5 min of your time. I don't give up easy Ed, I'm relentless in my persuit of knowledge and wisdom and sadly Ed, you are the holder of that information. I may not ever get you to help me but unless you block me, my channel logo will be permanently etched into your memory.

Absolutely such a talent for story telling and what an authenticity. You could make a video about how to brush the teeth's of a hamster and people would stick to it for 60min straight just because of how you share your thoughts in both an entertaining but still educating manner. I learn a lot from how you approach things and I am pretty sure I am one from man many others. Good luck chasing what drives you, it is a key in life not to forget what we really want and doing our best to achieve it. Cheers. Néné

Absolutely. My channel's mission is to help people live a life that (e)xceeds their expectations. As a result, I have struggled, done hundreds of videos and still haven't crossed the minimum watch hour threshold... I think almost all content creators who are on here who do this as both a part of their business and a part of their passion knows this sticking point all too well. I recently had a major realization myself that made me stop and take a step back into what put me on camera in the first place. I lost that way for a few years as I was growing and shifting as a person, and what I share here is so connected to that.
I've learned SO much from you, your editing, your advice. So your mission has definitely been impactful. So now, take the time you need to regroup and come back stronger.
As I've learned, some will love it, some will hate it. But either way you'll be more energized, inspired, at peace and enjoying this journey which YOU get to dictate and create. And it will prove to be even more successful because of that.

This video came to me at exactly the right time! After maintaining my upload schedule for years, I hit a stopping point in 2022. I took a few months off UA-cam and content creation in general because I wasn't motivated. I needed to reevaluate what I wanted to put out on all platforms. After enough creative rest and self reflection I finally had that "Aha" moment. My priorities and goals were once again made clear and I had the drive to make content again.
I didn't find this video at the beginning of my journey, but at the very end of it - seriously. I opened UA-cam to upload my first video in months and this was at the top of my recommended, and after everything I had gone through, I'm sure you could imagine that it immediately caught my eye. I watched this video not with a forward thinking mindset, but with reflection. To see a UA-camr who is 10 times larger than I am going through the exact same thing I did only reaffirmed that I had made the right choices before I saddled up again.

  • @Strat-Guides

I think this video perfectly illustrated how important it is to have goal and obsess over achieving them. Making a goal and looking at it once per year is like trying to hit a target at 1km while blindfolded. You might shoot in the right direction with some luck, but you'll miss 99.99% of the time. I wish you the best in your journey and thank you for all the lessons up to this point! I really do hope your future videos are relevant because they are some of the best in the UA-camr space. You don't spam 100 "How to reach 1000 subs" videos, but actually useful guidance. Ramble over lol thanks again for all you've done brother!

Thanks for everything Ed! I’ve learned so much about UA-cam through you’re channel and you’ve impacted my life so much. You’re so good at teaching people about UA-cam while also telling a story and making your videos entertaining. A few hours ago I realized I hadn’t watched any of your videos in a while so I checked back to see if you uploaded anything, and you hadn’t, but then you posted this like an hour later which is a bit of a coincidence lol. I think that taking a break from UA-cam is a great way to learn how to make your future videos better, and the type of video that you actually want to make. While watching this I realized I haven’t uploaded a single video to my channel (other than one unlisted thing that was just for me to find out the name of a song through they’re copyright system). After many months of learning about how to make the best UA-cam videos, I started work on making more videos this September and I plan to upload those on a new channel in January with videos far better than any of my older ones. Thank you so much Ed!

I’ve actually been on this journey over the last couple years, why I deleted UA-cam studio app, created multiple channels, taking season long breaks, and picking up other hobbies like learning Russian and building a business outside of UA-cam (I picked up photography again for the first time since 9th grade) this video is a message that spoke to me and my own missions/just purely self development honestly

And considering the rest of the video and the description of the potential future of your channel, I might honestly end up being more invested in those videos… take your time and develop a structure and a solid plan, I’ve stepped away all summer to re-evaluate and develop a true plan to stick to that doesn’t just involve UA-cam but in furthering my life

I love everything about this video! Thank you so much for sharing this. It shows the depth of your personal integrity and authenticity. It also shows courage to follow your own mission rather than being dragged along by online notoriety.
I was recently forced to close my business - the thing around which my entire personal identity was wrapped.
Now I’m reconnecting with my own mission and desires and create what I feel called to create rather than what clients or social media dictates.
I’m excited to see your evolution, I’m here for it! Joining your mailing list now!

Whatever your vision is, I hope you find what you need. I have no doubt happiness and fulfillment will follow if you put 1/10 the energy that you put into this channel. Cheers!

Mmm. I feel most of your mission points have landed with me. I'm newer to your channel (say, 6 months or so). My channel is massively under performing so I stopped producing and started a deep dive on how to fix it. This lead me to you, HillierSmith, and a few others where I feel I'm learning exactly what I need to be learning to make this thing work out in my favor. You have been very important to me...building confidence in myself to achieve my goals...helping to hone my creativity into something more effective...helping me learn how to tell a story better. Your videos are massive to me. I'm rethinking thumbnails and titles, rewriting scripts to tell a more cohesive story (thumbnail-title-script-editing). My road is long, arduous, but I'm actually on the right road now and I know it...that is massively important, a gigantic confidence boost to know one is headed in a good direction. Again, you're a big part of helping me find that road so I could travel it. I'll get where I'm going because the wisdom of others is leading the way. Yeah, that's a really big deal...and I'm grateful.
Much lucks to you as you suss out where and how you want to travel The Road. Not to spoil the ending but everything turns out ok!

This is one of the most powerful videos I have seen on UA-cam in a LONG time!
It's the fact that you are not only being honest but you are also putting your viewers and purpose FIRST! You don't seem to be wrapped up into JUST getting views and growing your channel numerically and monetarily!
I wish you NOTHING but the best as you fulfill your purpose here on UA-cam and in life!
Thanks for being transparent and honest! 🙏🏾 😀

Stay focused, that’s my takeaway from this video and my mantra in life at this moment.
My current mission is to make my content that’s entertaining and informative that can also incorporate a part of me so that whoever is watching not only feels satisfied with what they saw, but also got to know who the person behind the video is even in the slightest bit. I do this through my edits and I hope those who watch realize it. What may be holding me back is how demanding I am with my content, quality is important but admittedly it does take quite a long time for me to produce a video.
Anyways, won’t drag this out any longer, thanks for letting us know what’s on your mind and will be waiting for future content! 👏🏼

There’s no wins without loses and we truly find the most amazing life altering things when we take step back or even fail. This might be irrelevant but I don’t want you to think that this break is going to make you lose “views” or “audience” when you’re truly finding yourself is the biggest win. Good luck 🤟🏼❤

I love this. I was stuck the first year of my channel. I took a break but it turned out to be an eight month break 😂 It hit me one day what I was doing wrong on my channel and either I could change it, quit or keep doing the same things I had did in the past. I got views on my videos but I didn’t get subscribers. I feel like I’m on the right path now. I try to make my channel fun now, not just educational. I think I got it.

I completely agree that if your channel isn't making you happy, change what you feel necessary because ultimately you have to be happy with your channel before us. If you are happy, it reflects in your work and your videos and makes your viewers happy. I know whatever changes you make will be even better.

This is really sad to see. As a fellow creator I hit rock bottom over the past few weeks. My views were around 300,000 which people may think is good. But when I sat back and studied the data I realized that UA-cam isn't sustainable for my niche.
Every month views are harder to get. Honestly I blame UA-cam shorts for trying to compete with Tik tok. It needs to go for good...
The audience is totally different. UA-cam was always about providing quality content but now with shorts it's so diluted it's getting harder to find that real spark.
It's even the posts, the polls, and all the other bits that has diluted UA-cam down. It was at its best when it all just videos, not shorts, not garbage.
I've seen your subs grow at such a high rate and your views on your channel start off well then gradually die off and as a fan I genuinely feel for you. When you look at Catherine manning she hit her peak last year and since then it dropped off to the point her videos just don't show up.
I totally understand why even larger UA-camrs are feeling low at the moment.
Wish you all the best mate. Thanks for all the freee advice 🙏👑
