It's doesn't hurt to get hit in the hogu, unless it's a powerful kick like a back kick or a good tornado kick, but that's pretty rare. Just make sure your opponent only kicks the hogu and nowhere else because low kicks do hurt (especially groin). Don't worry about head kicks since you're only a yellow belt and it's most likely both u and your opponent are going to have controlled contact because u don't wanna kill eachother at a non tournament event lol. Have fun and good luck!
@@n8taing612 ok cool thank you, I don’t plan on doing sparring tournaments for awhile, and my studio does it based on height and belt level so I’ll probably be with someone my skill lvl plus for a lil while I’m sure they’ll do light contact
This is a sparring training session, even though we fight at full speed, we still wanna keep it safe cause we don't wanna be injured before an actual tournament
@@n8taing612 I understand going light to prevent injury before a tournament. I'm commenting on the lack of kicking combinations using both legs to perform switch kicks, back kicks, ax kicks, etc. All I see are one or two front round kicks sometimes followed up by a rear round kick. It's mostly all one legged fighting
@@n8taing612 Dean is right though....When I competed and trained back in the 90s TKD was faster and more dynamic with lots of quick power kicks, axe kicks, back kicks 360 kicks 720 kicks double and triple jumping round houses......nowadays its looks like foot fencing.....mostly front leg slapping kicks and taps but back in the day even kicks that land flush DID NOT score unless it was hard and landed with a thud. and touching the head didnt score unless you really smack that head. anybody can look up 90s WT sparring highlights to see what we mean. The electronic hogu really dumbed down WT matches where light soft kicks can score hence all this weird flamingo kicking bs... @KukkiwonWT as someone who does WTF taekwondo which u might know has 0 punches to the head. If i was in a street fight. Id definitely be like a boxwondo type shit
Honestly, these local dojang sparring is more fun to watch than Olympic foot tag.
Yep. Olympics version of combat sports suck so badly.
For sure
TKD is shitty nowadays. TKD comittee should bring back the glory days of REAL tkd, nt the shitty ones we see today.
It depends on how tall you are cuz weigth more🤓
I don't know you guys but I think Alex should DEFINITELY switch his leg lol
yeah, im not sure why Master Chris never told him that 🤔
Lol
This was fun to watch! They clearly have great control of their movement too, red belt had some swift movements with her back kick too
This looks great and taekwondo had great Kicks 🥋🇰🇷👍
Your training area looks so much fun, there is a literal basket ball hoop!!!!
that was an old school move...
Old school > new school

These students are very good!
Love this video! Brings back memories! I grew up I a dojang
do y'all also fight with your hands? or only the new taekwondo type of stuff, since the original taekwondo is meant to use your hands too
this is wt tkd and hands arent utilized as much because theyre shorter and score less points.
@@helloeverynyanz basically the sport is not real defence and only based on tournaments and scoring points
Shot out boss...congrats to ur taekwondo videos.
I’m a new green belt so it’s really fun to see all of the kicks I will do on the future.
well kids fight full contact with punches and grappling in mma gym where i train TKD is safer compare to MMA
Hey I have my 2nd degree yellow belt test next week so I’ll start sparring does it hurt very much? Cuz I’m nervous

What happened to TKD? That's a pale comparison to what it was in the 80s and 90s

Alex was always me in the ring 😂
why is nobody boxing? I don't understand, I would always box to the body to disturb the opponent.
unfortunately olympic taekwondo does not allow punching to the head, and punches to the body are only scored if u do them in a very specific way
Because this Taekwondo and not Boxing?🙄
