As a killer, I generally don't mind a little bit of light farming. Like, when we're down to two people, and someone wants to just run around and slam a couple pallets on my head, I think that's fine. They get points for the stuns, I get points for the pallet breaks, and it's a more chill moment for me to explore the map, learn the map layout a bit better. But that whole, 'wait for survivors to 99 a generator, kick it, wait for it to go down, repeat' thing is just plain bo-ring. And I'm pretty sure everyone would earn bloodpoints faster by just playing normally and completing the match, considering how slow doing that would be.
Another example of light farming- Healing at the exit gates. Might as well get those extra bloodpoints. Or as killer, finding and closing the hatch right as the last survivor is being sacrificed, or damaging a generator or breaking an extra pallet.
@@chaoticsilver8442 Another version: Spamming power around the end of a trial. Like if I'm Dredge I might do extra Locker teleports or something. That's fine. I don't even mind being tamable. I think it's cute because I am extremely casual. But I don't want to be forced to farm if I do not want to.
I'm not gonna lie, if I feel like farming (usually if there's two survivors remaining and the game felt too fast), I will gladly kick a gen but only if the survivor offers it.
@@Azarath415 This, I don't MIND doing it but I'd rather bash pallets instead of kick a gen 8 times. I mean thank you for the offer, sure, I'll do it, but I'm not going to start it if we're farming.
Honestly I don't mind it on a small scale. For example I let survivors collect an invitation if they haven't let and let them collect their glyphs. Other times if a survivors charms me I'll let them be, or even if they snitch..Just makes my job as killer easier. In exchange for betrayal I give them their life. Bad for other survivors? Yes really bad. Bad for me and makes me mad that they do it? Not really. Other types of farming like pallet stunning me or flashlight blinding? Nope not letting that happen. Especially when some survivors want to do it after they gen rush me.
Just because someone wants to be friendly or not really try in a game doesn't mean they should be reported. As long as they aren't teaming with the killer or throwing when the killer doesn't reciprocate the friendliness, it's fine.
I do farm, but I do start every match serious, have a little mini game i play where if I can get everyone to death hook before 2 or more gens are done, I go friendly and farm, but if the survivors keep up with me and I am not stomping them I will finish the match normally.
I think that farming should never be reportable nor is it bad in any way. It can be fun and beneficial for all. Though sometimes, some people don’t want to farm, if they’re trying to complete a goal of some kind. For instance, I was recording an adapt Oni video the other day, had a terrible first match and then on my second match, at the very start, a Steve and the new survivor character both gave me their items and wanted to farm. I played along with them for a while but then when the other 2 survivors didnt want to farm with us, I decided to just go for my adapt while I had the chance. To me, if all 5 players don’t agree to farming, then the match is just going to be normal. I love farming though and I think it’s even more fun than the real game, when all the players have personality. If we’re goofing around by going to the theater or making an item shrine, then the farming is fun. But if it’s literally just doing the gens, then it gets boring.
I am somewhat of a farmer some matches I go into with the intent of being nice and willing to farm but most times I'll go into a match and if off the bat they ask to be friends then I'm down if after I've thrashed them so long as they weren't toxic or anything like that I'll farm with them and let them live without issue. My newest strategy is going in hard hooking everyone twice and then if they were nice or decent and weren't sweaty or toxic then I'll let them live. Overall my approach is if they Wana go hard I'll go hard back if they Wana chill I'll be chill back. All of this is to say no it shouldn't be bannable if we have to accept that people can camp and tunnel at 5 gens and do everything in there power to make survs suffer then we also have to accept that people can also chill and just get BP if they want to. Not everyone wants to go hard every match and many survivors actually love farming killers. I hide my name now but when my name was open and people could message me I had so many survivors thanking me and expressing gratitude for me being nice to them and farming because they had a bad day and there matches weren't going super well and they just wanted to do a challenge. I also run into streamers and many are happy to have a little farm session after 5 matches of tunneling and camping. Now I've also come across people who don't Wana farm and that's fine aswell normally after I hook them twice they come and ask me to kill them and after a few back and forth head nods and gestures so I can confirm they really Wana die and go next I let them go next or they DC the second they see I'm farming but that's only happend like twice. In conclusion many people like farming and farming is mutually beneficial there are many ways to do farming and there can be ways that are alot more fun than just gen kick SIM if you don't like farming that's fine either ask to be killed or DC as is the response given to tunneling camping and everything else. But back to the old fraise "your fun is not my responsibility" and "I bought the game I can play how I want" unfortunately they also apply to the play styles that YOU don't like not only the ones you do like. I think kaiser articulated themself perfectly in this vid and honestly it was quite nice to hear them discussing it in a more calm and civilised tone as the shouting and swearing while for comedy purposes make my defensive caveman brain go off extra hard and sometimes struggle to properly take in what there saying and how there meaning it.
As i killer main, i feel its a game by game, survivor to survivor thing, ive been playing long enough to see who wants to play and who wants to farm. After like 10 normal games id like to relax and if ppl want to farm and meme cool. That being said, i still do like to play to 2 hooks and then show im friendly.
I have been forced to farm as survivor. Pointed at hook, when I got on it tried to suicide, they rescue me, pointed again, they won't put me on. That is just simply fucking griefing. We're not playing the game as meant to, but I also can't leave without DC:ing. And the killer kept downing us and kicking the gens too, so it took fucking ages. That I think should be reportable. I'm stuck in a match where people are not playing the game, won't let me out, and I'm punished if I DC. Worst thing about it is the killer thinks they're being "nice" while wasting mine and my friends' time.
I agree, you get BP faster just playing normally. And ever since the BP economy update, I have literally never needed BP for anything other than prestige. People are free to play however they want, but I'm not obligated to go along with it. If they ruin their solo queue teammates experience, ultimately, that's on them, not me.
I agree with the take. I remember a few years back when I was forced to farm like that as survivor. One person rage quit and the other 2 forced me to farm when I just wanted to play and move on to the next game. I remember complaining about in the steam discussions after and I got destroyed by everyone for NOT wanting to farm and being upset about my forced participation telling me I should have just played along. :/
I run into farming killers so few and far between that I just go with it when it happens. It's preferable to watching them tunnel somebody out and then they DC and then somebody else DC's and then what do you have? Arguably something less interesting than farming. But I was saying my last 200 Survivor games. I've seen a farming killer maybe twice, so I don't consider this a huge problem. And definitely not reportable.
The issue I feel as you mentioned is where is the line drawn? If a killer loads into a match and puts their head in a wall the whole match is that reportable? Is me doing my Xeno fishing where I just hide in tunnel for most of the match reportable? If a survivor hides the whole match just to escape through hatch after doing nothing is that reproable? Is someone playing bad reportable? Even with like sandbagging what if it wasn't on purpose and a genuine accident should that still be reportable? Ask 5 people get 5 answers to all of those. Framing itself I feel is fine but like you said there is a way to do it and not do it.
I switch to playing friendly killer and farming after playing as survivor and dying to speedrun sweats for 10 or so matches straight. I try to be for other survivors what I would want to encounter. So to see so many people in the comment section talking about what a peer-pressure driven slog friendly farming matches are is... odd. Not every match has to be super serious, and its nice to have a break sometimes, especially if youve been getting steamrolled. "hey, killers and survivors are both just people trying to have fun, so lets play for the same side maybe 2/25 matches and get sillay" type of thing. It should always be killer initiated imo, the survivors are at their whims, and teaming on people who dont want to engage seems cruel. 2hook, chases, genkicking, pallet dropping, dancing, snail racing at the gates, just some good clean fun where the survs can choose whether they wanna participate or not and take a little break if their sessions have been as stressful and unpleasant as mine usually are when theyre the type that lead up to switching sides and going friendly. And regardless of how matches have been going, I always get giddy when I see a friendly killer in the wild and go along with it as soon as I realize whats up. Ive always loved friendlies in tf2, so maybe its a bit of a carryover. Its a nice bonus that unlike in tf2, both sides actually get rewarded for it in dbd, if theyre getting along and communicating well nonverbally.
Farming is okay... to an extent. Especially during this event, i try to farm only when either the teammates quit on hook early on, or when I get an 8 hook by playing normally. That way, there's still gameplay, but everyone can still get a substantial amount of bloodpoints.
As a survivor, I enjoy farming. It's a nice change from some of the try hard games I encounter. But last night a Myers killed me (I didn't have a flashlight, tbag or do anything toxic.) then farmed with the others for the rest of the match. That didn't feel good. As a killer, I usually only farm if I have a ritual for a killer I hate playing and just want it done. Or if I want to help survivors get event challenges I know are horrible to attain. A couple years back, I was Spirit and couldn't find anyone for 5 minutes. I finally went into the basement and found all four survivors dancing around the hooks. I joined them and then we farmed. It was actually fun and I still smile when I think about it. I'll add this; I farmed as Pig once ages ago (She's now my main) and was told by one survivor that I was boring for doing so. I just said "That's fine. I hope your next matches are more fun for you." No one should be forced to farm.
for me, i play both sides of the game. and i'll be one to admit that i'm not the best player on either side. i don't always get 4K's a killer. and i can't take killers on a lot of chases as a survivor. so whenever i see a possible situation of farming. i don't mind doing it on either side. but it shouldn't be a reportable thing, but i can get if someone wanted to play things normally. more power to ya. but this is another case of "you can't please everyone". because on the one hand, you'll have people talking about killers who are "too sweaty & try hard" and want to have nice killers. then others are all "i hate farming, just play the game normally". now sandbagging when you're just trying to do the game normally. i can get, but it shouldn't be a reportable or banable offense just cause some people wanna just chill & farm. i just think maybe people should read the room if possible. but it's an online MP game, so you can never know what to expect when you load into a match. no matter what side you're on
that sounds more like teaming and not farming imo farming shouldnt be bannable but if you dont want to farm and the killer starts teaming with another survivor to force the farm then it should be bannable for teaming
I definitely see how running into multiple farming killers back to back could be boring, but it's something I personally never see. 99% of my matches are completely normal, most killers I face don't even give hatch. I haven't seen a farming killer so far this year. That's fine! No problem with that! But it makes farming killers to me like a rare treat!
For me personally, I enjoy farming if the killer is fine with it (or if I’m feeling generous/have an ulterior motive, such as yesterday when I did it as Nurse because I also wanted that three blink + grab achievement, so I allowed farming as a reward for cooperation), but I would def get bored if this happened all the time. Im one of those people that goes with the flow of things, but I’m always down to goof around if the killer doesn’t wanna play seriously since it’s something different from the usual. Obv I’m not going to intentionally sandbag; if others wanna just play the game, I’ll just follow to observe at a distance and stay out of the way of their chase.
For me it truly depends. I’ve kinda gotten used to players farming during events so it’s become the norm to me and I don’t really mind. The only time I really mind is if either a killer or survivor loads in wanting to play normally and when they realize they are losing and decide to farm, it’s kinda boring. If you are gonna farm, at least commit to it from the start, kinda goes into my opinion of players being toxic all game and then switching to being nice expecting a killer to give them hatch. You either commit to it from the start, or just don’t do it at all.
I just take it as it comes. It can be boring to me, and a bit awkward. But if everyone is on board with it, then sure - lets do it, get it over with, and go next.
Sometimes I’ll have a challenge or something and I’ll let the person who helps me do it leave for a bit and I’ll chase 2 people before I chase them again because they helped me. For example: I hit the gen, they went on, I got the three blink grab achievement, and then I left, the game ended with a 3k because I killed everyone else and I gave her the hatch
An easy way to probably stop farming would be to slash them bloodweb prices in half. With the max blood points cap u can only roughly raise a character's prestige by 2 levels. Bearing in mind there's like almost 80 characters in the game and the cap per match is something like 200-500k and that's like a second job your embarking on to level everyone up 💀
If I decide to farm, I go for 2 hooks each, BUT, if I see anyone sandbagging, first offense is Slug, 2nd sandbag is death for the sand bagger, and I stop hooking. Usually, if I'm farming it's cause someone DC'd or self ended on first hook . . . the Survs don't deserve that agony of 3v1 at 5 gens.
kinda wish we had voice chat just so people could tell me if they wanted it or not. i 100% killer only, and when I play properly and 4k5 I get told off for not playing in the spirit of the event, and if i go easy i get told im bad
I farm on most weekends. Most that I've run into said thanks in the end game. I like to give the survivors a break because it can be really sweaty on the weekends. I do understand that not everyone wants to farm so if I run into a streamer I'll hop in their stream and let them know that I'm letting them farm and ask if there's a challenge I can help with. If they're not down I'll respect that and leave the lobby. In all the years I've been playing I've only run into one streamer who was very very vocal about not wanting to farm. I left their lobby and oddly enough all 4 in their SWF got slugged the next match by their killer
With farming I honestly don’t mind. I haven’t seen a farmer in ages, but what I DO HATE is the annoying bullshit afk killers who sit there and spam their m1 and abilities. Specifically I seen an arise in more doctor and legion during the vent So FKING annoying and I can do I sit on a gen hoping others do the same. I got a streak of 5 games in a row. Pls report those scripting mfs. or has anyone else have this problem or is it me with my shit mmr matchmakin
Honestly.. my definition of farming in DbD is both or one side (usually survivor) trying to get as many BP as possible. Which thanks to this event, is much easier to do. Sure for most ppl it's not fun and understandable too. But it's gonna happen and we can't do anything about it. My only real problem with farming was shown in the first few minutes of the video, and that's teammates bullying their other teammates forcing them to join the farming when that person just wants to play the game and leave asap
So I farm in games from time to time…my thing is I play the game normally (I even play “fair” don’t tunnel or camp) I get everyone to second stage hook and usually we’re at 2-1 gens left (I never run gen protection perks and I usually play GhostFace, Myers & leatherface) for their death hook I down them, take them too a hook and drop them for their teammate to get them up (basically saying hey your dead Ggs) after I do that for everyone (I don’t go for people who are considered dead) I just let them pop the remaining gens and leave (I don’t try to hit max on anything/keeping them longer and majority of survivors I’ve had really enjoy it because it’s usually gen protection/tunneling/proxy camp killers for them and them having a win lets them feel happy and I’m okay with that. (I’ve only had two games where the survivors were mad but it wasn’t the farming that was the issue it was the fact they technically lost and thought by me letting them escape I showed them pity)
I "farm". I play normally till I 2 hook and then i just go around myself and make sure my categories are maxed out. Usually a normal length match and people typically dont catch on that I'm actively letting them go. (Lot of survivors give up actually) Also, havent seen a farming killer since last halloween, where yall finding these folks?
I play what I call a Pacifist Game during events and if I see 5 BP offerings. I'll 2 hook everyone, then repeatedly chase and down them to max my categories then let them go. We get points, chases, and they get to leave with extra points. Win/win. If the whole team shows they want to farm, sure I'll play for a bit, but if someone doesn't want to then I'll give them a game, kill them, then farm with the rest, but I will not go out of my way to tunnel/camp them I'll give them a proper match. I will kill anyone trying to sandbag though. That's an automatic tunnel out. I do this especially if I've just dominated a group. If I win a match within the first few minutes and they're really struggling I'll just max my categories and let them do gens until they leave. I can get pips at anytime, I'm not super stressed. Sometimes people just need a W and I'm happy to give them that.
The thing is people will try to claim farming if you can Report for it. I was using a meme Strat just today and the killer decided to give me hatch and not kill/hook me because he thought it was funny. I was reported by another one of the survivors, so people will try to claim anything is reportable if they don't like it. So if farming became a reportable thing it would be miss used by the community, more then used properly
I also do the 2 hook thing during the anniversary but I *do* play seriously until I get everyone to death hook, Forcing people that don't wanna farm into farming is just stupid af
I dislike farming, but it's something I'm doing sometimes for archive. For example, once I have "Down exposed survivor 12 times". I didn't want to do 3 games with a full exposition build, so I just farmed the last 2 survivors and then let them escape for helping me. But I wasn't farming from the beginning, and would let people stop farming if they wanted too. Something really annoying too is Invocation. I don't want to ruin the fun of the perk but if I don't kill them they think I'm just farming. Usually I down half the people down there and let them do their thing. Once I got both. A really bad Artist archive where you need to swarm Survivors on gen while you' re far away. I was swarming them but as they let the gen .5 second prior, I was struggling with this archive that you needed to do in one Trial. So I let live the Survivors doing Invocation and then farm with them to have my archive. But except for these otherwise even more boring situation, I really dislike farming and try my Best to make the killer chase me
If there are 5 cakes I'll not use the most oppressive and disgusting tactics, I'll try to give every survivor a chance to have a chase but that doesn't mean everyone is like that, and if the survivors start being threatening I'll just adapt.
I usually only farm, if 1 to 2 survivors just gave up from the get go and left the others behind and everyone is on board. I'll never give up a legit game just to farm
im glad you made a video about this because i find farming to be mind bogglingly boring. i dont mind it being 1 game out of 10 or 20, but when it happens 4 or even 5 out of 10 games its gets to be too much. i dont want to sit there and take the 1 out of 2 things i have to do as a survivor and make it even more boring. thats why whenever i get these games i just do the gens, drop my item for the thanks, and immediately leave so i can get into another game as fast as possible. on the distant relation of farming, i hate when killers see that im on a dull totem or doing a glyph and im sticking it in their face so they can see its important to me and they just grab me instead of giving me 1 more second to finish it. i feel like not many people use undying enough to care about dull totems being cleansed so whats the point
As a killer, if I end up completely steamrolling the team or one of them does the "PLEASE NO" wiggle on the floor, I'll end up chilling out and farming with them. I do kinda wish there was a way to communicate that intention during the match.
Personally, I agree with this, but also kind of disagree so in my case, I don’t usually farm that often I don’t like doing that. I find it incredibly boring. I do like to be a friendly killer from time to time, but I don’t farm with them if I’m playing someone like pig. I let them goof around by booping my snoot, pallet stun, me or whatever gets them bloodpoints. But I don’t usually participate in it, because I don’t care about blood points that much because I still get them naturally. But other than that, I just let them do gens but i rarely break them.
There's always a way to play friendly killer WITHOUT farming- in my case, if I'm feeling friendly I'll usually play normally and 2-hook everyone (chases and all) and then after I'll meme around and open the gates. I've especially been doing this because of how sweaty the event has been for survivors and I wanna give people a chance to have a reasonably good game (although I main legion and chucky so I mean.... This is probably my way of making amends for that) I will say though, I don't think though that people who farm should be banned, as MOST of them have good intentions and are maybe tired of sweat. In the situation shown in the video, that wasn't farming but instead it was teaming which IS a bannable offense. All and all, I will say I do find farming to be boring as survivor, but after all the matches I've had of sweaty killers... I can't lie I'm sometimes grateful it's players like that. One thing that IS for sure though, is that players should NEVER be forced to farm, and killers who retaliate against those who don't want to farm clearly don't have any good intentions and are just in it for the easy BP.
I don’t mind farming but I prefer my games to be somewhat normal. If everyone is farming when I’m playing survivor I just get my two hooks in then start finishing the gens. Maybe participate in a slug race but it’s not the worst thing.
I don't mind farming either side, if you want to farm I'm more than willing to do that and do not mind being a bit silly. It's really damn rare that even happens but it's MORE common during events, which I think is totally fine. But the whole genkicking thing is boring. Please just bash me with pallets instead. Just play normally, let's do some chases. As a Ghostface Main I get this ALL the damn time. No, I am not your friend, RUN FROM ME, let me do my stalker bullshit. Just because I occasionally wanna be chill and maybe give you some points during an event to be nice or whatever doesn't mean I always wanna farm, I want to play normally. Let me play the game. Nobody owes you a farm round and I might let some of you go but I'm not gonna just start throwing because someone gave up. But reportable? Why? For a dumb little silly thing some people don't even mind doing? Who actually cares? If someone doesn't want to, just play normally. Don't force people to do shit they don't wanna do.
i don't mind farming and i sometimes do it as a killer when im just trying to be friendly or finish challenges but it's really awful that some one really got upset like that (not really it was a skull merchant and mikaela) but to take a supposed friendly act of farming and then being a piss baby and tunneling some one who didn't want to farm is such an over reaction.
It depends.. if all 4 survivors wanna farm. No, but if there are 2 or more dc's I consider it. I let people get their runes or invites before downing, cause I respect the grind.
I usually want to play the game normally too and I'm usually the person that does the gens when the others go "farming" with the killer (except I maybe have an archieve, where I need to stun the Killer x times in one trial or smth lol). But I had a similiar situation like the Jules person in this video, where I was targeted by the Killer and the other players because I didn't want to farm with them, the survs body blocked me and the killer downed me, the survivors then proceeding to t-bag on my head and the killer humping me on the ground. I then wanted to end the game faster by trying to get to second stage by trying to unhook myself but the survivors didn't let me and then I was slugged the rest of the game by the killer, they let go the other survivors and killed me as the only one.
I didn't even know that was a form of farming. I am kinda surprised people find farming to be bad to the point of reporting though. Don't get me wrong its boring as heck but sometimes when you have constant bad games and have a killer who is just survivors do gens or in the case of me playing killer, I tend to go nice killer when two survivors give up or dc as it's not only more difficult and irritating for survivors but also the killer just wont be challenged with half the survivors just gone. Anyway, farming should definitely be a case-by-case thing for reporting.
I usually do farming, when I have a rare scenario of two people giviong up on 5 gens, and I feel like the other ones was betrayed or smth. So I do a little repear/break thing till BP is maxed, and hook them till they dead on hook, and let them go. I do it because I really want to let them go, but at the same time I want to gat at least something of this game. Either BP or pip. And, if survivors don't mind, then why not?
It depends on how it is done. I only think it’s ok if the two parties agree as in killer goes suddenly afk or killer goes for 8 hooks but with no other survivors intervention just like a normal game play but the killer won’t go for deaths. Everything else is wrong especially when it is a survivor and killer working together, which is reportable. I had this happen a lot. I also don’t get the farming you mention, which is loading in but not playing and starting to fake things; that would be boring and a no for me.
I farm but go for 8 hooks n farm on my Nurse. Play normally until 8 hooks. By the time you get them; the gens are done, or very close… or already done. I’ll hook someone and nod at them that they can escape, and maybe stand close so they can get off and continue. The reason is for fun and practice and to bust the sweaty Nurse stereotype. I’ll use meme perks on her for it. Like Bamboozle. The other is to get more toys during events. I’m a whore for Iri stones for Trapper lol. This method leads to a normal game, and then ends wholesomely. Survivors get to have a fun game, I get my fill and items they donate, and we are all happy. People who don’t like farming still get to play and loop. Standing around and doing gens is boring. This approach is better then the other. Newer players also get a much welcomed bp boost, and it helps them get more perks to play with, along with characters to play as. Tl;dr - I 8 hook and go friendly and the game’s already over. Win-win for everyone.
I don't mind for the most part when it comes to farming, I don't participate in it as a killer but if I'm playing survivor and I get put into the situation of join in with farming with the others or be tunneled out, ima pick the farming. Where I have a huge issue with farming is the toxicity for not participating. I have queued up to PLAY killer, I want to play my role then when survivors run up pointing or dropping items at the start of the match for me already my funs ruined, I wanted to play to win against the same but instead I know get my first few hooks for free which, I then go on to win the match due to the massive advantage they gave me because they wanted to farm. The biggest issue is being flamed for playing the game, a few times after this scenario occurred I was met with toxic end game chat (not that I care what people say to me) about how pathetic it is to not farm. I don't think it should be bannable but I wish people had some level of self awareness
Ill go for 2 hooks every game before kills but ill never hook someone that is activley being sandbagged by another survivor. That mikaela has a special place in the fog.
The only way to make farming reportable would be through a replay system which we know wont come. Farming in SoloQ is my least favorite thing in this game. I just wanna play the game and trying to farm often gets me even less BP than playing normally. If you wanna farm there is a secret server where people have developed a strat to get full bp in like 10 mins (Hens showed it in one of his vids) But unless youre using this strat, farming in soloq is practically useless.
Honestly only ever do it during events but I refuse to do it for long, like its cool and all that everyone is chill get a few hooks maybe help with challenges if they can communicate it well enough but I want to get to my next game, I don't go into a game with the intent of farming but sometimes it can just be fun to chill with people and have a light hearted game every now and again. Especially since matchmaking is broken for me and I end up getting games against people far higher skill level than me majority of the time which leads to fustration.
After a dozen sweaty survivor games, I appreciate the rare farming/friendly killer round. It would be annoying if it happened all the time, but it doesn't. Like I said, it's rare. Hardly ever happens. Seems like a non-issue to me. If you get a farming killer, just go next.
I prestiged all my killers today just by playing the game and being good. Got 4ks almost every game by being a good player and consistently bringing in close to 300k BP a game.
That mikeala and skull merchant are officially opps now, if I ever catch them in my game they’re getting bled out, jokes aside if you wanna get max bp efficiently and while being nice, just 2 hook everyone while actually playing the game and not being friendly
I dont think there's anything WRONG with it personally. I agree with all points on all sides, which sounds a bit of a cop out and a sort of group hug statement but I have been on and experienced both sides quite often. My stance is always just to roll with it at the end of the day. You can go next if you want to, but in my opinion if the killer doesnt want to play the match out, then your not going to get a match out of it. No point in trying to force it. You can try to off on hook or just repair distant gens but at the end of the day the killer is in control of that situation, so if they don't want to play ball and have a normal game then it's a punch you SORT OF have to roll with. I'll never shame people for just doing all gens and leaving if they want out, but that's perhaps the option. It shouldn't be reportable. At the end of the day what basis would that be on? Playing the game you bought how you choose? A bit of a grey area when there is only one queue (not in this case, but normally)
Farming not but the most annoying thing for me is teammates who cooperate with killer to bodyblock or show position from other surv to get Hatch. I always report that
Farming is nice to see once in a while to vent off. Does EVERY match have to be ultra sweaty like people are playing to have their family held hostage be released. Only if they win the match though.
I run friendly killer during big events. Why? Cause every match I'm in is against sweat lords who play like they've got one of pigs party hats on and if they don't 4k in less then 4 minutes thier head will go squish. I started dbd prior to the 6 year anniversary and when I joined that event hot damn was it brutal. Some of the nastiest people I've met playing dbd came out and it's proven true every event since. So I started my friendly freddy and have had more friend requests, dms thanking me and general cheer from others then any other time. We spend so much time in dbd playing "for reals", goofing off shouldn't be a sin to get banned over.
First off, that Makaela deserves a 'working with killer' against other survivors report...that's 100% a violation of the rules and should be a bannable offense. Granted as much as that isn't in the spirit of the anniversary, I don't think 5 gen tunneling is either...or the terrible showing that was chaos shuffle with every single killer being a little tunneller when they knew survivors couldn't bring anti-tunnel perks.. I consider farming to be the Survivor equiv of Tunneling off hook at greater than 2 gens. It's annoying to be on the receiving end up and probably should be punished, but both are considered legitimate styles, just arguably the worst play styles. As a Pig main I end up with a TON of matches where survivors wanna play Boop the Snoot and then farm, to the same general percentage as survivor matches with a loser killer that tunnels above 2 gens...I find both viciously annoying, though at least the survivors farming doesn't waste exp offerings and such like some baby killer than needs to tunnel. And before anyone tries to say "Farming is trolling and refusing to participate in normal gameplay."...Yeaaa and so is tunnelling off 5 gens to ensure you get a win or deliberately picking 1 survivor you plan to let live so you get a 'draw' and don't end up in Pro MMRs getting hammered into the ground by actual good players.
Yea I had it happen yesterday against a skull merchant I just wanted to play and get footage for my TikTok but my teammates started sandbagging me to help farm shits annoying tbh
I don't report people for farming but if survivors are helping the killer, sand bagging and such illslap that report on anyone involved . If you wanna farm sure go for it ama do gens and walk out that gate and if the killer wants to stop me then we can have some chases but I ain't given freebies and if my team trys to kill me then am reporting
Idk about it being reportable but I really don't enjoy farming. Friendly killer is one thing but farming is just so repetitive and boring. I'd almost rather be tunneled or bled out because I get to move on to next faster that way.
"the killer pitched a hissy fit and managed to recruit one of the survivors" As always, the main blame lays on the killer, who used telepathy IRL to force mikhaela into farming... I agree that its shitty behavior of BOTH of those players, wanting to play normally should always be the major priority, i should know as im getting annoyed by forced farming from time to time when playing survivor, im just off doing totems and chests or using perks that give points when the killer refuses too hook me. Nothing else i can do, im not gonna eat a dc penalty. But mikaela AND skull merchant are to blame here, not only the killer.
I think I was a victim of farming the other day I hardly ever play survivor and the one time I do the other survivors single me out to the killer and the killer and the survivors all teabag me while I’m down 😊
I agree, I don't really like farming killers that much mainly cause farming is boring. But I'd never consider it a reason to be a reportable offense unless in the certain circumstance that was shown in the video. Cause what happened too him is complete bullshit just because he wanted a normal game of DBD is a shame.
If i get into a game and the killer is trying to farm I always refuse. Either you kill me right off or I go and gen-rush and get out asap. I don't care to farm, its boring and unfulfilling. The one time I'm selfish in the game, I do not care for your ''fun'' as a farmer, I'm not doing that for you.
Here's the thing, the only people that should care about farming are new players that need the BP for perks. The person complaining probably already has thier whole roster P3 and it's 1000hr grind if you do both sides. Without BP bonuses as a new player, I was getting like 10-20k a match and it takes millions to P3.
Quite a simple matter Farming is simply not effective and is not a ban able offense each category *Excluding limited events* Cap at about 10k Teaming on the other hand is most certainly a ban offense. I feel like they are much bigger problems like modern survivor perks gaslighting killers into thinking their hacking or maps being unfair because they are much more frequent BHVR has always admired art over game-play and if im being honest the art department carries this game.
farming is stupid because it's only farming when the SWF wants it to be "farming", i've had multiple groups of survivors swarm me during a game dropping flashbangs, firecrackers, blinding, Tbagging the total works, game ends and i have 0 hooks their bagging the exit gate, then when i proceed to not suck them off in the endgame chat they go "why are you made we just wanted to farm with you", but now thanks to this event and instant hooking they are still complaining i am not letting them farm because they are all dying on hook and suddenly i am the bad guy
I do farming but for people who don't wanna farm I get the other people to two hooks, and then I chase the last person assuming that they the only one who didnt want to farm) while everyone else does gens. I just chase them lol if I get them I get them if not then whomp whomp lol. Tbh I like farming but I also like people who actually tries when I chase them because it helps me get better at chasing. I mean on both ends because back when I played dbd I played both. I'm not good in chase on survivor so if the killer is a farmer and like the 2 hook kind I want them to actually chase me and down me so I can get good at it. What I'm saying I just wanna practice for when I play non farm games.
unrelated note but i played against a vecna on haddenfield with knock out who slugged me for at least 2 minutes, i got hooked near an exit gate on my death hook and the gates were powered, i got unhooked and then vecna was body blocking me waiting for the base kit borrowed time to end, super smelly tryhard (this was the event mode btw) ive noticed a trend in killers with all of them trying their hearts out making the game super unfun, i dont expect him to hit me so i can make it to the gate for free, but it was just a combination of knock out slugging and general sweatyness that made the match unbearable, like please just hook me fuck off with your knock out slugging, people who use knock out in general are weirdos
I don't mind farming. I will farm in some cases. It is definitely not reportable to farm, there is nothing wrong with it. What are going to report? A killer didn't take the game seriously? That's literally 60% of my matches as killer, I do not care if I win or lose in most matches unless I am going for an achievement. It is different when a survivor teams up with a killer to force people to be farmed. I had a match where I was farming, but during it a Bill had sandbagged a David twice. So, I sacrificed the Bill player and two hooked everyone else and let them go. Seriously, some people just want to get blood points and the results don't matter to them.
Tldr: In my defense of being a farmer I only do it when survivors initiate said farming. I leave those who aren't doing the farming because if they don't want to do it they shouldn't be forced to. If farming should be a report then I'd be on the watch list. In my defense though when I do farm I do it when the survivors initiate it. Yes I get that just because one survivor does it I won't make everyone else do it. If they want to pop gens and escape then do so, heck I'd be happy if someone did gens while I was farming with said survivor(s). It's a game at the end and I want my bp as much as I can, but like any game I'm ready to go next like you.
Tbh i find that people over react with farming killers/survivors they see 5 bp offerings and a 2x bp event yeah lll probably try to farm it because thats a huge payday tbh it doesn't happen to much but when that happens ill Gladly farm some but if they don't want to thats fine
I dont mind farming just because the grind can be painful at times. But Im like weird. Ill play a game and fully intend to play it out and what not as a normal game but some times just the survivors doing poorly and Im obviously going to win at 4 or 5 gens Ill just go "Eh fuck it" and fuck around. Yeah its kinda throwing a game? But at the same time what does it matter to me? I still get points and at that moment I didnt care to win like I would at a different time. Im probably a confusing person.
what that merchant and survivor were doing was teaming. Which is banable but farming itself should never be bannable. I HATE farming. It's something Id rather even DC from cause it's so boring. Im here to play a game not stand with 4 random people in a circle.
Farming is whatever, I sometimes do it especially in this event but other times I just want to play. Kinda like you I would farm if they had a DC early on but sometimes I just don’t care and just want to play the damn game lol but farming is not reportable at all. What those two did wasn’t even farming it was forcing someone to farm and that’s ridiculous
Alright, my two cents to everything because this topic is "important"(?) to me. Ill edit this comment as the video goes so pls cut me some slack. For a bit of background: I have two friends who basically farm like 80% of the games they are playing. In case some people didnt see that Hens video a few months back, there is a way to pretty much guarantee farming lobbies every round and in the meantime many na and eu folks have adapted to this and found methods to do this aswel. They found ways to max out every game in like 10 minutes max, which is just more efficient than playing the game reguarly. Basically its some people playing a totally different game, which makes it fine for me since noone that doesnt wanna farm gets involved or annoyed by it. But they are still huge nerds for that (which comes from your minmaxing cleric, as a short funfact) So from time to time i do play a few farming matches with them (even tho i rly dont understand how you can do it to such an extend, since the monotony kills me after like 5-6 matches and i wont touch a farming game for a solid 2-3 weeks after, if not longer). So in general i like to play the game normally and i dislike farming in my normal pub games from the get go. Some of my matches i like to let the last 2 go if it was close anyway or just let them finish the last gen and leave if i feel like it, but until that point its a regular match. Yes, you get your glyph and if you stare at me dissapointed after you failed your save, i laugh about it and give you the chance of a headstart afterwards etc, but i wanna play the game. And thats the amount of goofing around that i like in my games from both sides. Not every game aswell, but you get the idea. Now to the video: 03:50 "farming is boring" Well, yes. If you just wanna play the game normally and others refuse, that sucks. easiest way is probably to get out of the match asap and get into a new one. It can be relaxing from time to time. Like i enjoy rewatching movies in that farming session my friends do and that "not having to think about anything, just goof around a bit etc" is a pretty chill time. BUT everyone in the lobby is fine with it, since everyone queued for that exact reason. So noones game is ruined and thats the important part here. 06:00 completly understandable tbh. Especially if its still like 5 gens im usually just not willing to bear with this. "hook everyone, give everyone some save points, kill all but 1, give em hatch. Thats like my compromise. But i totally get your point of view too and thats a rly sweet way, even if they dont know it. 08:55 100% this. I agree with you 100% on the final part. It shouldnt be reportable for the reasons youve given and reaper definitly took it a little too far (i think i even wrote that under the tweet aswell), but i get where Reaper is coming from and agree that noone should be forced into a farming session. join those nerds on their servers xD Didnt even look at it from the "it might not even be farming" perspective, thats a new one for me. Didnt think THIS would be the topic where i would write a wall of text again since i just kinda lurked through the last recent videos. But well here we go. Have a great day everyone
I don't think it should be reportable if there are aspects to the farming that goes along regular game play. Aka; gens, chase, two hook states each etc. I've run into many killers that simply played normally but only two hooked & then let us all go, everyone got decent points & there was fair chances to get said points. The farming with lots of down time or where the killer just stands in a corner refusing to even look at the survivors is also an issue. But I think it's important to identify what is & isn't farming. Farming is the intention to play casually but with the goal of all parties getting points vs someone tying to de-pip, & the difference between the two is very clear. Memes are funny but I think people confuse a survivor wanting a small meme moment (buying a killer a beer at the saloon counter, in example) as "I want to farm all match". Sometimes people are just being funny & it returns to normal immediately after.
I dislike people who go into the match with the intention of farming right from the start, that's boring and kinda cringe imo. Whenever I "farm," it's usually because I started playing normal, then maybe I had some funny interactions and was perhaps charmed by a bard or gifts of items. If I am successfully charmed by a survivor, I usually don't play favorites like the killer in the twitter clip, I feel it to be rather scummy to tunnel out the other three just cause one guy lowkey gave up and befriended me. Basically I decide when to farm the same way I decide when to tunnel. I play it by ear and see what the feel of the lobby is like, if the vibes are real sweaty I might use some underhanded tactics, if it's kinda chill or perhaps pitiful I might cut them some slack or sometimes let them live and farm.
Farming is boring and people that go into the game with the soul intention of doing it confuse me, but calling it a bannable offense is overkill. Obviously the Mikaela and Skully where teaming to the point of bullying because gabe wouldn't play along in their reindeer games and I hope they find both sides of their pillow too warm every night.
I definitely don't think farming should be reportable unless people are sandbagging their teammates. But other than that, farming is okay as long as it's not at the beginning to middle of the match, in my opinion. As killer it is especially boring because, like, I really just wanted to play. Like, yesterday I played Pig and a Sable was very much all about booping the snoot, and I was like, "okay, one boop, then I'll chase you later," when I got to her later she tried it again and I just shook my head and downed her. She sadly offed herself on the second hook, and I gave the last guy hatch because he was great in chase. Every now and then, though, I am one hundred percent up for farming, just please don't let it be at the start of the match 👍. And as survivor, I really don't care as of right now. Mainly because the event is auite tough for survivors.
Farming is the participation award equivalent to DBD. I dislike it, but I don't really care if anyone else does it.
This is like.... The perfect analogy.
I mean.. this event is farming tons of BP lolz
Whats annoying is when the survivors realize theyre gonna loose and then wanna try to farm
As a killer I do that too, if I’m getting juiced unbelievably then I’ll hit the hook and ask to farm. I try not to force it though
Exactly mush like everything else, people try to frame it like a killer only problem
My objective is 8 hooks, after that o start to chase and hits til max bp
Completely agreed. After getting tunneled a few matches straight a farming match can be so refreshing.
Farming is okay... to an extent. Especially during this event, i try to farm only when either the teammates quit on hook early on, or when I get an 8 hook by playing normally. That way, there's still gameplay, but everyone can still get a substantial amount of bloodpoints.
i dont normally farm but if im doing a challenge on a killer i hate playing ill get the challenge done then screw around and let everybody escape
Exactly. Do gameplay first, THEN you can go friendly if you really want. There's a right and wrong way to do it.
Hot take people are gonna farm in the gamemode for farming if you don’t like it play normal where no one will be farming
I completely agree. I’m going to binge your videos soon so I can catch up. Love your content!
for me, i play both sides of the game. and i'll be one to admit that i'm not the best player on either side. i don't always get 4K's a killer. and i can't take killers on a lot of chases as a survivor. so whenever i see a possible situation of farming. i don't mind doing it on either side. but it shouldn't be a reportable thing, but i can get if someone wanted to play things normally. more power to ya. but this is another case of "you can't please everyone". because on the one hand, you'll have people talking about killers who are "too sweaty & try hard" and want to have nice killers. then others are all "i hate farming, just play the game normally". now sandbagging when you're just trying to do the game normally. i can get, but it shouldn't be a reportable or banable offense just cause some people wanna just chill & farm. i just think maybe people should read the room if possible. but it's an online MP game, so you can never know what to expect when you load into a match. no matter what side you're on
that sounds more like teaming and not farming imo farming shouldnt be bannable but if you dont want to farm and the killer starts teaming with another survivor to force the farm then it should be bannable for teaming
Farming is just social anxiety simulator to me tbh
I'll comply, but secretly I just want it to end so I can go back to normal game
I feel this. When I'm killer I just stare at them and look around unsure of what to do , as survivor I just tbag awkwardly
thats pretty much exactly what the entity would want
I have farmed before as killer, but only when I have specific challenges to complete either from dailies or tomes
kinda wish we had voice chat just so people could tell me if they wanted it or not.
i 100% killer only, and when I play properly and 4k5 I get told off for not playing in the spirit of the event, and if i go easy i get told im bad
Specifically I seen an arise in more doctor and legion during the vent
So FKING annoying and I can do I sit on a gen hoping others do the same.
(Lot of survivors give up actually)
Also, havent seen a farming killer since last halloween, where yall finding these folks?
This is probably my way of making amends for that)
I will say though, I don't think though that people who farm should be banned, as MOST of them have good intentions and are maybe tired of sweat.
I don’t mind farming when it’s like a break from killers who are good at the game. But when it’s over & over then it gets boring/annoying.
If you wanna farm there is a secret server where people have developed a strat to get full bp in like 10 mins (Hens showed it in one of his vids)
But unless youre using this strat, farming in soloq is practically useless.
The only time I really farm is if two of the survivors give up early on and I feel REALLY bad for them tbh
I feel like bloodpoints should be easier to get in general simply due to how important perks are and how unforgiving the game is.
I feel like if I want to "farm" I just try to get double hooks on everyone by just playing the game and let everyone just leave alive
Quite a simple matter
Farming is simply not effective and is not a ban able offense each category *Excluding limited events* Cap at about 10k
Teaming on the other hand is most certainly a ban offense.
I feel like they are much bigger problems like modern survivor perks gaslighting killers into thinking their hacking or maps being unfair because they are much more frequent
BHVR has always admired art over game-play and if im being honest the art department carries this game.
farming is stupid because it's only farming when the SWF wants it to be "farming", i've had multiple groups of survivors swarm me during a game dropping flashbangs, firecrackers, blinding, Tbagging the total works, game ends and i have 0 hooks their bagging the exit gate, then when i proceed to not suck them off in the endgame chat they go "why are you made we just wanted to farm with you", but now thanks to this event and instant hooking they are still complaining i am not letting them farm because they are all dying on hook and suddenly i am the bad guy
Yo Kai will you still consider linking Reaper's awesome guide if you have not already?
it has been updated in the description, thank you for the reminder
@@KaiserDaGaemer ty dude!
what that merchant and survivor were doing was teaming.
But they are still huge nerds for that (which comes from your minmaxing cleric, as a short funfact)
So from time to time i do play a few farming matches with them (even tho i rly dont understand how you can do it to such an extend, since the monotony kills me after like 5-6 matches and i wont touch a farming game for a solid 2-3 weeks after, if not longer).
Now to the video:
03:50 "farming is boring" Well, yes.
Usually, when I farm and I see someone trying to play normally, I will let them play normally
I do not mind once or twice a time during play. So, it is "meh".
Peer pressure the game, you just have to farm with everyone if they do it or else you're the bad guy
