As Consciousness Itself, we are not in the position of the body-mind. We are not the thinker of thoughts, and we are not the doer of action. We are the mere Witness of all arising phenomena.

I am in a pit of despair and I don’t know what to do. I feel so much anger at my past and I resent so many people for how they treated me. I also regret so many things and wish I could take so many things back. I am also greatly uncertain about the future as I’m not in a very stable living/working situation right now. But I don’t know anything about the present. I am floating in a giant ocean of anger and despair. I wish I wasn’t this way.

For me, reading Jesus' "sermon on the mount" and Eckart Tolle's "the power of now" help a lot with that.
Another practice I have found useful, when I remember to do it, is whenever negative emotions/thoughts fill my attention, to close my eyes and look down and to my right. This moves (some) of your attention to physical sensations. It's a small shift, but enough to interrupt whatever unwanted habitual cascade of thought is on parade in your minds eye.
God bless you and your journey, and may you find better advice than mine :-)

Hey Chris, I can relate. If it's any help this stuff inside us has to be brought to the light. If you're here watching a video like this then you already have some awareness of your true perfect nature. Just being in this process will bring up our unresolved pain, trauma and attachment wounds, relationship issues etc. I find it useful to express my truth in moments like this - speak it out or write it down. This morning I found myself aware I have a lot of anger towards women. I expressed it by writing it down. It helped move the energy. Try not to fight with your experience in order to be more 'spiritual '. Embrace all parts of you and allow the moment to be as it is however uncomfortable or unwanted it appears 🧡

@@andys7937 I have so much anger towards women. It starts with my mom and how she treated me and continued on through girlfriends and love interests. Even as recently as this week I was treated horribly by a girl I just met. The deepest wound of all was a girl I met 3 years ago who vanished without saying anything and I’ve never seen her or heard from her since.

1:04- indeed. the “edge” is all there ever is. “mind” (thinking) does not stop. ever. what “knows” is “knowing” itself.

Q: How would you describe enlightenment?
A: First you have to understand ignorance. As long as the Self appears in the mind and acts like the mind, that is ignorance. When the mind separates and the Self alone is known as supreme energy, that is enlightenment. In short, we can say knowledge of the Self is enlightenment.

@1:50 (what's looking out through your eyes, listening, sensing isn't a "someone"..) reminds me of something I heard someone say about mindfulness (being aware of the self in the moment compared to the self thinking/describing/labeling/narrating in the moment). They said that the conscious self that exists (compared to the habitual thinking self) is the "me" that I can sense as being the same "me" as when I was 12 years old.
Apparently everyone has that understanding of "who I was when I was 10, and I'm the same person." They can access that connection of energy/existence as a person without all the imagining existence, the experience of existing. That's the elemental or subtle "who I am without thought." We live a life of thought, and believe we're someone different today due to all the thinking we've done/experienced. But, at some level we're the same person. The thinking changed nothing.
I think it was Dr. Mark Epstein (psychiatrist & buddhist) who said made that point.

I know intellectually that there is no me, but I feel resistant to that...like I am trying to hold on to there being a me. There is underlying fear in the body/mind. If I have a little willingness is that enough?

It doesn't matter, closes your eyes, and be in silence, there will be a lot of movements in the mind, but u have to stay in that storm, not fleeing, movements will slowly subside,
fear is a thought which arises with or without image,u are that silence, nothingness, but even the nothingness u can perceive,
u are the weakness of the mind for u are the one who can perceive it,same with emotions and feelings,u are the screen on which this fear and thoughts are fire,
coming at u and u belive u are getting burned by it,but if u face it and love it,it yust moves on true u,moves on in u,not affecting u once u see it cant hurt u,
u are never moving, never changing,u are never not.

Look without fear. If you have fear that means you feel threatened by it.

All is an appearance that appears to an appearance that appears to appear. This 'me' is an unborn appearance without knowingness. I do not even know that I do not know. Unknowingness and Unborn... comes closest.
