Isn't it enough to be one of the greatest living singers doing Strauss, Wagner, and those impossible and great German works? Please, leave poor Aida to other voices.
me parece una voz bella para aida, pero si, hay algunas sutilezas propias de "lo" italiano que no le salen, pero la voz es prodigiosa. lastima q no le haya salido el do.
Um Price was never perfect but she never made her mistakes on the big moments. O Patria Mia without a high C is not an O Patria Mia. Or at least can not be counted among names like Freni or Price. Sutherland never sang the role but one doubts if she'd ever miss a C. I actually agree with you though in part, her voice is AMAZING.
OMG.. she looses it 441 and on.. she has no oo vowel in the upper registers, and if she could only open her mouth even further, she might sing better.. LOL!!! Only polite applause.. says it all!!!!!
operawhore64 This goes in my OPERA SADNESS PLAY LIST. She's only 46 years old. Not 66.Her voice is all over the place the dysfunctional Hi-C was beyond sadness I would have just left the stage called it a night.I WANT TO BE ALONE!!! Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Since she makes me drool through out the entire aria, I'm willing to deal with one trouble spot. Her technique is so relaxed and bel canto. She is engaging and her her voice is full. So screw the "C" and the loud high note in the end. Freni, Price and even Southerland weren't perfect all the time either.
I hear no real legato line in her singing, no distinctive vowels, just an relatively big, unfocused, woolly sound with a lot of tremolo on all notes. I do not believe for a minute that she belongs in the dramatic repertoire. I hear a much more lyric quality in her voice.
This is out of her tessitura.. It is too high for her.. You can hear it in the voice.. all that tremulo.. is an indication of strain. Not the right fach.
It is amazing what winning a few stupid competitions does for singer's career these days... This woman should never sing Verdi.. It is not a Verdi voice, she has no feel for italian opera. The High C was terrible, and the A and the end, is not forte.. it is piano.. or supposed to be floated... This woman floats nothing.. Only her ever presnt tremulo....
Honestly said: It´s bad! Sorry, I´m neither a friend of harsh words nor soprano-basher, but Stemme as Aida - impossible! The voice simply isn´t made for Italian Opera. Listen to Leontyne Price´s farewell-performance (!)(also here on you tube!), and you will feel the enormous difference between real Verdi-singing and pretended-one. And Price at that time was 62!!! I don´t want to idealize old times, but a voicetype like Stemme never would have been accepted 15 years earlier. Decadence.
MoonLaugh Madame Price was 57 my friend. And she was great. Her high C piano is hypnotic. She always struggled singing the Hi-C Forte or lack of projection. But the quality of her voice was beyond description. When I first heard her 1975 I could not believe my ears the quality of that voice was just so unbelievable. 👑🌎🌍🌏🌹 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Dear Arnold, unfortunately I never heard Mm.Price live, but even the records are absolute fantastic. Yes, "O patria mia" at her farewell-performance... You can´t believe your ear. It´s so great. Fortunately, we have plenty acoustical and visual doucments to perpetuate her glory. Ciao and all the best.

À deux doigts du désastre !
@wwwoyzeck All the flaws...? :-D
if only she didn't try to diminuendo on her high C , she'd be OK. I love the voice.
Great singer. Not too Aida-lookalike, but great...

Yes she is not a verdian . But you know Price sang Verdi really well and Strauss.. too.. What is Ms. Stemme's forte?

She missed the high note (forte) all together!!! Then sang the last note forte, but it should be piano. Does she sing this way all of the time?
um yeah doesnt she usually sing Germanic works? I think that while she is acceptable as Aida, it doesnt quite ring true.

+Morten H i could not agree more than you!
+chosentenore - sometimes I am beginning to wonder, if I hear differently from everybody else, so thanks :-) I feel less alone now!

She is a very bad soprano. In my opinion she shouldn't even be singing on stage period.
dramatic?
Vibrato trop large…le contrôle n’est plus là.
