Merry Christmas Havoc Sun❣️ It’s Jan 1 2019 and we were just about to store Santa’s Musical Workshop until next Christmas right after playing one last time as we took down our tree. IT STOPPED PLAYING AND THE ROLL BUNCHED UP ON THE UPPER AREA. Oh No! Something underneath bound up! A half hour left me clueless how to open her up. Finally found your video and with a long screwdriver the front panel came off 👍. About 10 minutes gently working out the bind and our family room was filled with Christmas sounds from our really old Santa’s Musical Workshop while we finished taking down our tree. THANK YOU SO MUCH❣️❣️❣️ And a Very Happy New Year❗️
Once again a fantastic video!! It's 5:20am here in the Pacific Northwest on Christmas morning and I'm just about to button up Santa's Workshop!! When I commented on your other video I hadn't had a chance to go through the usual dust it and light it up on my workshop...well it's been a long night and after some splicing in new wiring(Thank you friendly mouse) and oil aplenty, it's surprise family " Santa's belting out some tunes this Christmas Day". Thank you so much again for the help for it was truly needed. P.S., I got lucky my roller was still intact.. Lump of coal averted MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!
I have a unit where the paper moves, music and lights are working and the characters were moving but now they are not. How do I get the characters to love again? Thanks!
Thanks for posting this video, I always find repairing various gadgets is how to open the case without destroying the unit. you certainly cleared that up. Good job!! Can you tell me the voltage and output current of the Black plug in transform. Thanks again!
I never received the original voltage regulator, but a inspection of the electronics tells me it is a AC in, NOT DC. I would think anything around 1 to 1.5 Amps. I am currently running mine with a AC to AC 1.2A adapter.
Hey I added rubber grommets to the bar and it worked, I used tattoo needle grommets, maybe something you could try. Had them laying around. I put 5 total. Ty for your help on fixing it
Are these very thin grommets? Im thinking of paint the cam part of the bar with a soft rubber paint so it will grab. Mine is hard and still works jams once in a while.
It was listed as “Mr Christmas Music In Motion or Santa's musical workshop roller part kit”. Wasn’t cheap at $21.95, plus shipping, but it works now. My granddaughter will be happy when she sees ours working again.
If it was just a plastic roller, that definitely would work. But unfortunately after the roller is made its infused with a rubber skin. Which in time disintegrates.
Thanks for the video! I just picked one up from an estate sale. The music roll came apart and was laying up top. Your video lowed me to disassemble the workshop but I'm not sure which is top and bottom (is there one?) There are arrows on both sides pointing to the right Thanks again for the video! Steve
Maybe I'm trying to say the front of the paper or the back Is the music read facing the front or the back of the workshop? Is there a front or back of the roll or are they punched the same?
I just found out Happy Holidays Parts, which is the official repair center for Mr. Christmas pieces, sells a roller rubber kit. I collect luxury Swiss music boxes, and the rubber dampers under the teeth on the comb have a problem with disintegrating over time, so they have to be replaced after 30 years … so to me, this sort of rubber replacement is routine for any music box. Go visit their site, or contact them … hope this helps!
Hello! Thank you for this video. I was wondering about the motors in the back. If the figures don't move, it's the motors' issue, correct? And that's what I have. I haven't opened it yet so I don't know what kind they are, but are they replaceable or will I have to buy the replacement parts from Mr. Christmas? Thank you!
My cam wheel that pushes the note paper is still working but hard. It jams every now and then. Im wondering if there is a type of rubber i can lightly paint on the cam part that drives the paper to keep it soft for the push action?
Seems like the sort of thing one could rebuild with flexible resin on a 3D printer. Assuming someone could design one in virtual that meets the specs, most newer resin printers could probably do it.
@@HavocSun I'll be seeing a guy after Thanksgiving who specializes in 3D printed miniatures to talk about parts for Betamax players- I'll tack this on to see what's possible. I'll keep you posted!
I tried to fix a friends unit. Same problem. I have one which stills works OK. I tried to figure out why the animation motor only runs intermittently. I noticed the motor runs when I tap lightly on the back. Turns out, I think the sensor in the bottom is a microphone, and the motor runs only when it hears sound. Seems like there would be an easier way to do that, but it works. I made her animation run full time by putting a jumper across the 2 end pins of the 3 pin connector coming from the lower printed circuit board.
Thanks for this video. I was trying to repair this and I think I have the same problem. What was left was just pieces that were shattered. Do you think you could find someone to 'scan' your part so that it can be 3D printed and saved as an .STL file? I just don't see any other way! You were a great help! Thanks! (December 2020)
I found this at a Thrift store. I know my boys will love it, but it's got a short in the plug. It didn't actually have the power source, but my laptop one works for it. Lol. All the lights light up, but no music. Any pointers?
Yes, its the usual problem that plagues these pieces. Watch this video all the way threw. I explain how it works & whats wrong. I will have a video soon explaining how to fix it.
Contact Happy Holidays Parts, which is the official repair service for Mr. Christmas pieces … they do sell a replacement rubber roller kit. Good luck and hope that helps!
I have had a few people come up with different types of replacement parts for the friction roller. So far nothing really works. I do have a Idea of using "Flex Seal" as a wrap around the friction roller. I will see how that goes.
I just found out Happy Holidays Parts, which is the official repair service for Mr. Christmas products, sells a replacement rubber roller kit. Visit their website or contact them for more details. Hope this helps! :)
Its insane to remove these teeny tiny screws!! They fsil to grip the philips head and many are already nearly stripped!! Getting to those 4 screws deep down at base piece is impossible, you cant even see them!! The desogm of this is pathetic!!! 🤦🏼♀️ Wish I'd never bought one. It would be fine if the screws werent teensy weensy🫣

You need to replace the rubber roller, I have a video of it somewhere on here.

Just to update, I purchased a set of replacement rollers on eBay. They work very well.
Can u give me info on them? I would like to get some as well.

Have you looked into 3D printing the roller that goes bad?
If it was just a plastic roller, that definitely would work. But unfortunately after the roller is made its infused with a rubber skin. Which in time disintegrates.
A company I know has a printer that can print with different properties at different places in a part. Theoretically it’s doable.
@@MisterBech I think I would need to know about this printer. I would love to feature it on the repair for Santa's musical workshop!

Not sure what you mean, top or bottom of the roll?
Maybe I'm trying to say the front of the paper or the back Is the music read facing the front or the back of the workshop? Is there a front or back of the roll or are they punched the same?
Thanks for the great video. Now to attempt the disassembly, uh oh. What's the latest on the roller?

Its probably not the motors but the belts going to the motors.

Unfortunately I have yet found a fix for the dried roller.

I am dipping that shaft into liquid FLEX STEEL twice then trimming the ends of the extra latex. Keeping my fingers crossed ?

There is no sensor on this piece but a rubber roller breaks down in this unit all the time.

Sorry I don't own a 3D printer, hey but Christmas is coming up!
Exactly what I was going to suggest; scan an intact part and sell replacements! :)
How about using a 3-D printer to create the part that needs to be replaced?
Its a rubber part. I found it.
PS My wife is VERY Happy and sends her thanks!
Glad I could help, I love Mr. Christmas products, I have a large collection. But this piece is one of my favorites.
