  • ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan applies for arrest warrants for Resistance leaders as well as Israeli ministers Gallant and Netanyahu. Is this the equal application of justice or another institution self-destructing? Also more discussion of the implications of the death of Iran's president and reports from the battle fronts.

Gaza is not subject to the UN or the ICC. Perks of them being prevented from getting their own State
Zero evidence for crimes on Oct 7
Everyone knows IOF killed its own and is blocking investigation
Palestine has a right to defend against what has always been a genocide, unconditionally
A religious state with no borders is a blank check for arbitrary totalitarianism, it was designed this way through world events from the start
Just look at the Great March of Return. It is the UN and the World that failed Palestine, how about we take responsibility for the part we all played in ignoring their suffering for DECADES
_"Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of the Palestinian State _*_MUST BLOSTER HAMAS_*_ and _*_FUNDING FOR HAMAS, THIS IS PART OF OUR STRATEGY_*_ to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from_ _Palestinians in the West Bank."_

To me, the slant against the Palestinians isn't too important here. I mean, what else did anyone expect? And frankly, in terms of arresting the Palestinian leaders, they won't be able to get them. Sinwar and Deif are in Gaza, in which the Israeli army can barely gain a foothold, while Haniyeh can probably shelter in certain friendly countries. The important thing is what Justin identifies here, namely that Israeli leaders are no longer charmed, no longer immune to these kinds of charges. Even though only two, out of a potential long list, have been chosen for censure-two that are convenient to Biden's desire for an Israeli government not run by Netanyahu-the principle is established. Israeli leaders are now no better than Hamas-imagine that! As an official statement, that is unprecedented. It is also permanent. Maybe backlash by the Western powers collapses the ICC, sure-but the damage has been done and cannot be undone.

    • @seeibe

In my view this is just as dumb as when UNRWA fired accused staff immediately without evidence and this gave Western leaders an excuse to stop funding. You don't "compromise" with Israeli lies. You either reject them outright or you side with the Israeli. There are no other options.

love the "imperial criminal court", that's a very fitting name.
as someone with only a shallow understanding of all this, i was (positively) surprised to hear any such arrest warrants were applied for with regards to the usraeli regime. thank you for giving the necessary context to see what a dark farce this is, yet again.
it truly is a bitter reality to be living in. dozens of massacres every single day, some of them shown widely through our highly connected social media, and we're all just made to watch their brutality and endure their neverending lies. meanwhile, outside of your sphere and the EI, very little to no sincere attention is given to the resistance. they just remain the eternally defamed "monsters" the cursed hasbara paints them as. it's a fricking nightmare in 4k (although i have to downscale it to 360p), courtesy of the global empire of colonial consumer culture, a monoculture par excellence.
and all the while, the destruction and unraveling of Gaza continues and less and less is being heard and seen as the murderers are so successfully targeting journalists and anyone who can communicate still. and it's really wild how the usraeli "jurisdiction" miller spoke of is really just: "we have the right and moral duty to kill each and everyone we see as our enemies, in an act of self defense"
at least, the reality on the ground is that there's no way around the resistance, and this resistance is anything but futile.
may palestine live long and prosper

I concur that Dmitri Lascaris channel is worth subscribing to. He’s a Canadian Lawyer who has been roaming West Asia recently, investigating & interviewing as close as he can get to decision makers.
He’s also been covering the humanitarian aid flotilla that at the last minute was denied the right to depart from Türkiye port when the ship’s maritime flag nation refused to accept repeated inspections & alleged lawful infringements.
Does anyone really think that Israeli policies/politics aren’t driving not only weapons & vilification of Hamas/Gazans/ West Bank Arabs, while they’re pouring billions of funds to enable extremist “settlers” & a certain faction of fundamentalist Christianity funds ultraviolet settlers.

  • @flyingfishnet
    @flyingfishnet Місяць тому +6

I’m not certain this is the correct interpretation.
The application for warrants of Israeli leaders is historic and significant. There is no reason why they may not be extended to others. The charges, when examined, are far more serious than against Hamas leaders. Also the facts of October the 7th would have within a law court , which is something we should all welcome.
Perhaps the principals of Occam’s razor is useful here. The ICC is indeed fighting for its survival, and so limits its scope to in order to tick necessary boxes without drawing itself into further controversy. (theres enough already).
Maybe I’m being naive, but I’m willing to entertain at least the possibility this step, taken albeit reluctantly, is because we are witnessing in real time the worst collective punishment on a civilian population this century, as outlined at the start, in public, by the Israeli leadership.

I appreciated the Dimitri and Laith discussion too. I don't fully agree with part of Laith's take on Iran.
Raisi is known more for his loyalty to the Supreme Leader than his initiative. He is said to have 5 years of education, mocked for G.W Bush-like gaffes. I'm sorry for his tragic death, but I also don't believe he should lauded for innovations on foreign policy matters - rather like Bush Jr he is seen as a frontman. Same goes for the Foreign Minister who was often criticized for limited education and not speaking English.
Comparatively, the President/Foreign Minister combo prior to this one of Rouhani/Zarif (also regime insiders) were personally responsible for their initiatives and fought internally to champion the so-called nuclear deal (JCPOA) - a diplomatic triumph from which Trump unilaterally withdrew. The pivot to the East/BRICS and away from Europe/the USA comes after decades of Iranian diplomatic outreach that hit the wall with the JCPOA debacle.
In a Middle East Eye Unapologetic interview, Hamid Dabashi gives a fascinating overview of his intellectual influences from anticolonialism, third world socialism, and militant Islam from the Iranian revolution onwards, and how Iranian militant Islam crushed its revolutionary allies over time to now embodying a self-interested and pragmatic regime more vested in maintaining itself than in truly pressing forward with its revolutionary ideals. (He also speaks about being part of the pro-Palestine movement at Columbia University and his observations on white supremacy 'in the belly of the beast' - recommended viewing)
The anti-regime Women, Life, Freedom movement continues to rumble on, and unlike other popular movements in Iran began in the provinces rather than Tehran universities and for some people echoes the broad movement they lived through during the '79 Revolution. Religious and secular women demonstrate side by side. Many ethnicities, rural and urban groups, have joined. For some time now, women in Tehran have been able to be in the streets without hejab, although in some government buildings you won't gain entrance if you don't cover up. This Ramadan people were smoking and drinking in public restaurants - truly an unthinkable act of protest before the movement.
Nobody knows where things will go. This quest for liberation within Iran (which extends beyond Iranians brainwashed by foreign-funded media who are equivalents of Florida Cubans) has to contend with the possibility that the Islamic Republic's growing external power will undermine any ability to bring domestic change.
The foreign interference Iran and its neighbours have suffered for decades - 1953 still looms large for Iran - are the backdrop for all of this and perhaps made the regime's survivalist mentality inevitable. One hopes that with the eventual ousting of the US from the region and dismantling of Israel's genocidal apartheid regime, Iran's regime could relax its self-protective insularity and crushing grip on political power. All this to say: there seem to be a lot of moving parts to this historical moment.

Iran has been under brutal sanctions for decades and in particular the aircraft sector has been especially hard hit, the embargo on parts and air frames has been something they haven't been able to work around. The Iranian Air Force primarily fly F4 Phantoms, an aircraft that began production in 1958! They've recently purchased Su-35s from Russia but those are delayed.
My understanding is Raisi's helicopter was purchased by the Shah's government in the mid-70s and may have been surplus from the Vietnam War. They apparently only have like 25 of these copters left in their entire inventory, so the president wasn't traveling in a state of the art aircraft, but the sort of thing you'd see landing in a rice paddy in Da Nang in 1967. We're talking about an old helicopter being kept in the air with parts they've sourced from second-hand sources around the world and if you see where the helicopter crashed, it looks like it
was too low to clear the ridge, they just couldn't see.
Sabotage sounds preposterous to me. That means assassins would need access to the helicopter. They'd sabotaged it in the most subtle ingenuous way so that it doesn't crash until they encounter bad weather on the return leg home and neither the flight crew, security detail or maintenance found any of this in their pre-flight checks or deeper inspections? If their procedures are like those employed by the US in protecting the president, no one individual can gain access to things like Marine One, without others present. You can't have it both ways, Israel can't be the strategically blind, tactically deaf and operationally inept adversary while at the same time being able to pull off superhuman acts of assassination in the remote wilds of Iran!
Then you've got people calling Azerbaijan an Israeli proxy because Mossad has a safe house hidden in Baku somewhere and they sell Israel oil! Azerbaijan is 65% Shia Muslim and has deep trade, cultural and infrastructure ties with Iran and mutual ties to Russia. This stuff is too silly, but this is the conspiratorial mind at work. I've heard electronic warfare floated as an idea that the chopper was jammed or spoofed into the ground, which begs the question why weren't the escort choppers effected then? EW isn't a laser beam that takes out individual targets, it distorts large areas with electromagnetic interference. Any aircraft in the area would of been effected. The most logical explanation is air disaster.

(minus the heartbreak things).. thats happened a few times these evil months and I feel so guilty when it happens but I think it's really just that our brains can only handle so much of all of this unrelenting bullshit....
When I first saw that icc thing it felt like a scene from a dystopian scifi movie or something... ive barely even seen any of those kinds of things but that's what too many things genuinely feel like recently / anymore....
I'm forgetting all the other subjects here right now but it's ok because theres already been plenty more... 😐...
I think it was about this time yesterday morning I saw the "announcement" from Ireland and it had the same infuriating - depressing feel as everything else.... it reminded me of what you explained so well here about the icc thing.. this trickery they do with all the wording and etc and they are apparently trying to make the victims and the abusers equals...
Everything they all do is so.. I think lockstep is the word.. it's all just so mindblowing and creepy..... I feel like we've been watching every bullshit thing that's ever happened in all of history all replaying all over again all at once for 220 something days straight... it is truely surreal times we all are living in... 💔
Anyway... all of your various explanations here resonated as usual.. and yes those other guys are amazing too.. all of you and everyone else and everyone here are all sanity saving heros imo... thank you so very much for that... and for all of the laughs some of us so desperately need too....
The sponge bob thing made my day.... and I remember I lost it somewhere in the middle when you said unhinged and "energetic".... this general sense of humor of the (whole) resistance is the best fucking thing ever.... 🖤✌🙏

    What a blessing
    Store your data!
Drives with videos needed at different sites no internet. The internet videos may fully disapear, who knows if 6 months.
Still not sure what chip forms would withstand this wars weapons we havent seen yet. Maybe DVDs would not be warped as easy as a usb?
Maybe we are 2/3 a year since the parents of the kidnapped children struck back, is this similar time spacement as we have seen during other escalatory steps throu these events?
Like is a new theater beginning in 2 weeks? (Hmm i am actually not with much reff points can throw those darts in dark every night but, ill keep eyes out for gap trends comparng various levels of granularity)

Kareem, being. Kareem, is laying a minefield for the PA, the only part that subscribed to the Treaty. The ICC will dutifully recognise that it has no jurisdiction over Tel Aviv, and will abstain from warrants or efforts to detain those suspects. The mummy of Ramlah will be in a tighter spot because it is bound to carry out any request from the ICC as a signatory.
So perfidy should from now begin with a K.
A K for Kareem iznogoud Khan, as the vizir from the cartoon.
    A truly despicable being.
    The undertaker for the ICC

And, as Justin reflects Haniyeh is the immediate target. An ICC vs Putin move, just to block diplomacy. The other real target is Bibi, Joe is using all it's artillery on him in order to promote the político militar clique of the classical Zionism . On the other side are the Kahanists, manipulating the Mizrahi vote. The faction that Pappé names "the state of Judaea". Their funding circuit evades Joe's pockets. So they are the enemy.

Maybe there is a simpler reason. He was being pragmatic because he knew the reaponse of the US and Israel. You could argue that if Hamas went to the court, they would prove the purported facts of oct 7th to be false. Non would stand up to forensic scrutiny.

It's unfortunate what happened, there's little to no doubt in my mind that the CIA/Mossad were probably responsible in some way. May Raisi and the other 3 martyrs rest in power. Power to Resistance

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:01 *🌍 Announcement by ICC Prosecutor to Seek Arrest Warrants*
    - The ICC prosecutor announced they will seek arrest warrants for Palestinian resistance leaders Yahya Senoir, Ismail Han, and Muhammad Deif, as well as Israeli leaders Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Galant.
    - The prosecutor noted they will focus on alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the latest Gaza conflict.
00:55 *🚁 Iran Helicopter Crash Incident*
    - A helicopter crash in Iran killed the country's president and foreign minister, sparking speculation about whether it was an accident or an assassination.
    - Iran is likely to treat it as an accident, even if it was an assassination, to avoid escalating tensions and committing to overt retaliation.
    - Iran's overall strategic patience and resistance approach is unlikely to change despite such incidents.
11:02 *📜 Concerns about ICC's Selective Application of Justice*
    - The ICC's decision to start the investigation clock from October 7th raises concerns about its selective application of justice, ignoring earlier events and Israeli actions.
    - The ICC prosecutor acknowledges the risk of the court being seen as applying the law selectively, which could lead to its collapse.
    - There are doubts about the ICC's legitimacy and whether resistance figures would willingly submit themselves to its jurisdiction.
22:07 *🔍 Potential Impact of ICC Arrest Warrants*
    - The arrest warrants are unlikely to have a significant impact on the day-to-day lives of the targeted Hamas military commanders, who are already living underground and facing constant threat of assassination.
    - However, the warrant against Ismail Han, a political leader, is seen as an attempt to delegitimize Hamas and make it harder for the group to engage in diplomacy and negotiations.
    - The resistance groups have rejected the ICC's actions, arguing that it equates victims and perpetrators and should have targeted the entire chain of command responsible for crimes.
29:05 *🤝 Reactions to the ICC Arrest Warrant Applications*
    - Both Israel and the US have strongly rejected the ICC's actions, seeing them as an outrageous challenge to the principle that Israel is "racially superior" and can act with impunity.
    - The ICC has essentially forced Western powers to either accept the prosecution of Israeli leaders or reject the entire legitimacy of the court, leading to a likely collapse of the ICC.
    - The ICC's decision has complicated diplomacy efforts by countries like China and Russia to find a political solution, as it makes it difficult to engage with Hamas leaders who may face arrest.
40:13 *🌍 Ripple Effects and Significance of the ICC's Actions*
    - The ICC's actions, despite their flaws, represent a significant historical defeat for colonial white supremacy by considering Palestinian leaders as equals to their Israeli counterparts.
    - This punctures the belief that Israel is completely above the law and can act with total impunity, which is a big deal regardless of the other consequences.
    - The ripple effects of the ICC's decision will continue to play out for a long time, as it impacts both the legal and diplomatic landscape surrounding the conflict.
45:01 *🔥 Ongoing Developments in the Gaza War*
    - The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with over 810,000 people displaced and many reported massacres by Israeli forces.
    - There are signs of increasing coordination and cooperation between the various Palestinian resistance groups, such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, in their attacks on Israeli forces.
    - The US is allegedly continuing to supply Israel with weapons through the port in Gaza, using the "humanitarian" label to shield it from resistance attacks.

      ## ICC Arrest Warrants: A Deeper Dive
This report analyzes the implications of the International Criminal Court's (ICC's) recent announcement to seek arrest warrants for both Palestinian and Israeli leaders.
      ### The Warrants
      * The ICC is seeking arrest warrants for three prominent leaders of the Palestinian resistance: Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, and Muhammad Deif.
      * Simultaneously, the ICC targets two Israeli leaders - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant - for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
      ### Reactions and Implications
      * **Western Backlash:** Both Israel and the US vehemently reject the ICC's authority and see the move as a direct assault on Israel's presumed right to operate with impunity.
      * **Difficult Diplomacy:** The arrest warrants complicate diplomatic solutions sought by countries like China and Russia. It makes engaging with Hamas, potentially branded as a criminal organization, a major diplomatic hurdle.
      * **Questioning ICC Legitimacy:** The ICC is forcing Western powers to accept the potential prosecution of Israeli leaders, a move they consider unacceptable. This will likely result in the further delegitimization and potential collapse of the ICC.
      ### Deeper Context
      * The ICC's selective focus on events **after** October 7th raises concerns, ignoring the pre-existing context of the Israeli occupation, settlements, and previous military actions. This can be seen as mirroring their approach to the investigations in Rwanda, where the focus began **after** the plane crash involving the Rwandan president, neglecting the preceding events.
      * Many argue that by equating the Palestinian resistance with Israeli military actions, the ICC ignores the power imbalance and long-standing history of oppression.
      ### Key Takeaways
      * The ICC's move is highly symbolic, potentially signaling a subtle shift in the international community's acceptance of Israeli impunity.
      * **Despite its flaws, the ICC's decision creates a significant legal and political challenge to the narrative of Israel's absolute power and disregard for international law. **
      * The long-term consequences of these warrants are yet to be fully understood, but they will undoubtedly generate significant ripple effects on both the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the future of international justice mechanisms.

Despite my handle I'm actually Palestinian Jordanian وهاي اثبات اذا مش مصدقني إنه أنا فلسطيني, but to me as much as I hate the US and the entity that YT forbids me to mention, but also I can recognize that Iran and the Syrian regimes have killed many many innocent Syrian people, and the idea that the Syrian uprising was a conspiracy is not at all accurate, did the Us bank on it and tried to coordinate the then free syrian army to try to overthrow the president, yes, but since Iran and Russia got into it directly, the US's best bet was to leave Bashar where he is, cause a chaotic Syria means direct threats to that entity I mentioned, Bashar and his father never ever were a threat to that entity. As far as I am concerned, I think we should stand with the so called resistance axis (of course to me Hmmmmmmms and the other palestinian militias are the only real resistance and I'm not including them here, if you remember, when the Syrian uprising started, hmmmmmms never wanted to be part of the conflict and chose to leave Syria to Qatar, and the Iranian government at the time stopped supporting them with weapons, and Khalid Mashal who was the head of the foreign representation of Hmmmmmms said we won't sell anyone political stances for their support, our struggle is a the struggle of the whole muslim and arab nations ) until that entity is dismantled but we should never forget their crimes against innocent people of Syria including innocent palestinians in Syria. My opinion has nothing to do with factionalism, actually i'm an atheist and I don't care about religious backgrounds but I do recognize and anyone who denies this is lying to themselves that Hezbollah and Iran's action against they Syrian people (I'm not counting alqeda or ISIL who were for 6 months not a part of the war) was mostly motivated by factionalism. Of course I'm also against the criminal Saudi and Emirati govs whose war against Yemenis was also motivated by factionalism. What I want to say is we should never undermine crimes and atrocities of anyone despite our political view. Of course the 7th day of that month (Yt won't allow me to mention it for some reason) is also an atrocity but as Norman Finkelstein said, I can't condemn it.
