I know a guy from LA that resells Mercedes. and he saw your ad on the newspaper and was outraged with your $20,000 (obo) asking price for the 240 D four-speed with low miles on it, he showed another posting of yours and went on to say that it was a robbery in my opinion you do a complete overhaul on all the vehicles restoring them back to new. I have no idea what he’s talking about when he says that’s a robbery lol. Personally this guy only resells parts and cars here and there, acts like he’s actually doing work like you do to these vehicles. The finds you have, the dedication, and the quality of the outcome. It’s not like u just throw a wax on it and call it a day. Love your work and your asking prices for these vehicles are on point for what you do!

I worked in the repair industry for many years. That time included VW, Audi, Land Rover, and Mercedes service. I'm waiting to settle some family matters and move to buy a 123 or 126 - maybe both lol. John is the man I'm calling when I'm ready. I've spent the last year kicking myself over some of the gems he's come across. My issue at the moment is timing. My language was really colorful over the black on red 126 from Chicago. I almost said fff it I'm buying that right now 🤣 More Thomas and Jefferson!!

I didn’t want to waste my time explaining how absurd his opinion was. 🤣 (not a friend btw) and to be fair he’s just a hipster from Los Angeles, who sold maybe 5-10 cars and he wants to dictate what the market should be. No worries on the compliments, you’re helping all of us in the community! I’m restoring my 300d to basically factory new specs, might do that overhaul your buddy was talking about for 10k in the other video! Further down the line of course.

I saw a very well kept black 300CD a few weeks back and I mumbled some more lol. It's wild that I plan on daily driving my new car but I want a 123/126 as my weekend ride. I bought my 83 300D in 2003 to keep the mileage down on my then-new car. I guess wisdom does come with age lol.
I’m watching the series to prep for 1983 300sd work. Do you have a video replacing the rear trailing arms? I have a couple rusty ones. A truck frame shop here (detroit) can weld repair them both at $1200. But I figure I’d replace them and in doing so will access other parts to consider.
I have three coupes, two wagons, two 240D's and six 300ds and other classic Mercedes which I will come in here later and list. I'm selling them because I am retiring in 18 months and retiring to my home and wives in Costa Rica. Most run and run well but others are waiting for restoration.

How do you personally determine when to rebuild a caliper(with the FTE kit for example) or to just buy a completely new/rebuilt caliper? I've been lucky in that the calipers I've dealt with weren't far gone enough so they were rebuildable with the FTE kit, but the job just takes a lottttt of time.
Well the simple answer is you rebuild a caliper when it's leaking or when the Piston is dragging and not returning back into the caliper. However for the time it takes to rebuild a caliper it's more cost-effective to just order a rebuilt caliper they cost about $80. However sometimes you get a bad one and you have to send it back for a replacement. I've decided moving forward I'm using new ATE calipers on all my cars. Yes it's four times as expensive as a rebuilt caliper but extremely high quality and factory original.
You did not see the left side spindle is worn out and if you use it it will damage the new inner wheel bearing.Do you see its dark color, it means the inner old bearing has spin over it and worn it out.
Hey Tony yes I did see this and I inspected it it's absolutely fine. We have extra steering knuckles here in the shop and I definitely would have used one if it was not in good condition. I inspected the spindle on the bench with a flashlight. ;) Thank you for pointing it out.

I'm starting to think I accidentally had it on the lower setting when I tried those bolts hahaha
