@@PurringBluzzmuffin It's literally one of the most technically advanced games. Rendering millions of rats at the same time without frame loss/drop. Hot take smh
I think I was too hopeful for this collection. Aside from the significant improvement of being able to play at higher frame-rates and resolutions, there are not nearly enough improvements made to the rest of the fidelity that I think there should be for games that are at least 5 years old :/ Also hearing about some of the bugs/oddities around the PC version that don't exist on the PlayStation, and well, I'm not sure how to feel about this honestly. I have all 5 platinum trophies for the Uncharteds on PlayStation, so I'll still enjoy this on PC, but I'll always feel like more could have been done.
This was a port. Not a remake or remaster. This game was also fully designed and coded for consoles. Consoles often have their own quirks and other specific things that simply cannot be done the same way on other consoles or PCs. Sometimes it's no problem to do it differently but sometimes there have to be some kind of compromise between the original mechanics and actually working system. Small bugs are not uncommon in those situations. Of course it's reasonable to expect to not see those bugs in the final product, but your expectations of getting "a lot more improvements on fidelity" are simply strange. They are not based on any reasonable understanding of what a platform port is and what it isn't.
@@anteshell Every Playstation port to date has allowed us to push settings further on PC than this one. It is therefore not unreasonable at all for OP to be disappointed that this doesn't match the established cadence.
@@anteshell You make very valid statements, though I'm not sure my expectations were all that strange; certainly not unreasonable. Maybe I didn't catch beforehand that this was a port and literally nothing more, but were the Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Death Stranding, Days Gone, and even Detroit Become Human PC versions not ports as well? All of those PS to PC games had significant fidelity and functionality improvements on PC. I'm not trying to get all technical with it because I understand this goes above demands and expectations, but the quality we saw in previous PS ports to PC was significantly better than what's reflected in this collection. Therefore, I feel it was only reasonable to expect some sort of improvement (again, aside from higher refresh rates and resolution) over the PS versions.
@@HeloisGevit Maybe there's a slight misunderstanding somewhere between us. I interpreted the "not nearly enough enhancements" to be quite a bit more than just higher values in the graphic settings. Mainly because of the "nearly enough" part. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect higher settings, but improving the quality of the assets and so on is.
@@JFlint.02 Blame Iron Galaxy they're a terrible porting house with a horrible track record for context they're the ones that ported Arkham Knight and Arkham Origins which are both PC ports that had horrible bugs and bad performance on release I'm honestly shocked there aren't MORE issues than there are.
Exactly why PC is overrated. Quality control is terrible for most releases. Games are years late. Will get a gaming PC in near future but doubt it'll take me from console.
As a game developer that mainly deals with porting between platforms i can say next things. First: shading and textures can look different cause graphics APIs are VERY different. Cause of that visual sometimes just cannot be made perfectly same. And graphics require a LOT of work to be transfered properly. Second: in most cases team that works on original platform's version and the team working on port are NOT in perfect sync. They very often will have quite different versions of projects. Some bugs can be in original version but not in port and vice versa. Third: (addressing LOD distance) there may be some performance requirements set from the veery start and team working on port will do whatever it takes to meet those requirements. Lowering settings included. Even though in a first glance it seems not needed since PC's are very powerfull, there is set testing PC specs and set framerates with resolution. So simply put - increasing LOD distance may have led to having 115 fps in 4K on pc. That would be the reason to lower draw distance.
For a game dev that deals in ports, you're remarkably stupid. PCs have these things called graphics settings, they're not one size fits all. There's no good reason for why the PS5 LOD distance isn't available as an option, it's nothing we haven't seen before. Trying to present 115fps at 4K as unacceptable is ridiculously out of touch. Any of Playstation's other ported games put this one to shame. Knowing Iron Galaxy were behind it, can't say I'm surprised either.
Lot of good info here. My guess with some of the rendering issues come from Iron Galaxy specing for HDDs. I'm not sure if they worked on the PS5 version of the game, but since there's no HDD im any capacity, I would venture to guess that adjusting to that gave them a bit more trouble. If I remember correctly, the PS5 version was out in April. I'm not sure if they were working on both at the same time or if they only worked on the PC version. Removing Motion Blur makes this game SO much better in my opinion. That alone makes it a huge improvement.
Why in the hell they hired Iron Galaxy to port this and didn't have Nixxes do it I don't understand. Nixxes has proven themselves over and over that they are very competent at porting games to PC the right way with very detailed graphics options, they always get it right. Nixxes is also owned by Sony now so it really doesn't make any sense for them to contract this out to Iron Galaxy.
@@cooldragoncool3046 I can understand that but also why not just wait so they can get it done right? It's one of the biggest Sony exclusives, you'd think they'd want it done right. Especially if they're hinging doing the rest of the games for PC based on this collections sales. Which is also another really dumb decision, why not just do the Nathan Drake Collection first? You're putting a franchise on PC for the first time, where most of the player base has probably never played one of these games, and you start with the end of the series. Just all around bad decisions on Sony's part.

Did the console version have to "load shaders" for half an hour just at the first time loading it? And why did this old game that uses like 3% of my new PC's CPU absolutely needed AVX 2 to even load, making it the only program ever that just made my "old" PC just obsolete? Feels like a lazy port to me.
Clicked on this video because I was unaware of the PC port awhile ago. Wanted to see the differences. And I must be blind because I barely notice any differences. Oh well.
Reason why games appear nicer on Sony console vs. PC/Xbox is simple. Sony is paying devs to make game nicer and other systems worse, even though compute power of system capable of higher/better visual. Call me crazy but it has been proven on multiple occasions on multiple games.

Playing this on PC in 2024. There is no comparison anymore. Imagine playing the PS5 version in photo mode at 120fps and more. The PC version now shits all over the PS5 version. The framerate is literally dogshit on PS5 compared to PC.
Just asking what graphics card and CPU do you have because of poor CPU can result in poor render distance because I have found from when switching from a poor CPU sometimes the render distance suffers due to the much added strain on the CPU
Of course the biggest problem with Uncharted on the PC before this is that it didn`t exist ! meaning that those of us who never had a PS4/5 never got to play it at all but now we can which is great
I've encountered a few bugs myself playing the PC version, like when you get to some of the entrances of new areas, it won't be fully loaded into the map, so you just see empty space and sometimes, I've fallen through the map, because the textures and scenery hasn't properly loaded in. I ran into the latter issue in The Lost Legacy in particular, while attempting the Best Driver in the Business achievement, because on top of the game stopping to load almost every few minutes or so, after I head back from the top of the waterfall, I zigzag through the stream between some rocks and as I try to drive up the rock ramp back towards the central tower, the jeep just falls through the map. I tried reloading the checkpoint and even started a new game, to attempt the achievement again a few times, with no success. So I'm not sure what the deal with that is.
Funny how a game made to run strictly on Console doesn’t run so good on PC. Hopefully the PC version can be fixed it’s a great game PC players will have fun

honestly the only difference for me is in the FPS and quality and all those so minor quality parts are not that the PS5 is better than the PC cause that will never be the case its just that the port isn't so great and PS never ported before games on PC and they are still new to that platform

Comparing a PS5 to a PC doesn’t quite make sense. I spent 50K on my PS5, while achieving similar graphics on a PC would cost around 1.5 lakhs. PCs are built for multitasking and intensive tasks like 3D work and rendering, which require more powerful GPUs. The PS5, on the other hand, is designed specifically for gaming. It’s like comparing a Bugatti to a fighter jet-they serve different purposes. I was happy with the PS4, and I’m just as content with the PS5. I don’t mind the lower FPS compared to a PC and I don’t want to spend that much, so it’s all good.
No remember 30fps is fine, you can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps or more, that's what you have been saying for the last 10 years to PC Gamers :P
I don't understand why the Nathan Drake Collection wasn't ported to PC as the first thing. Some people haven't had the chance of playing this franchise, which would've been a way better marketing strategy for Naughty Dog, especially seeing that the first two parts of the franchise are the best in the series. I want to play Uncharted 2 and 3 with improved graphics.

@@Battleneter No. That's a tool to help create realistic, life like motion.... which you can't have with 30fps or 60fps too. 60fps is just not enough frames to fully cheat your brain and convey motion. I think a better comparison wouldnt be the graphical fidelity, since obviously PC will allways be superior or equal, the real question is how is the PC port running, becuase if this was made/written to run on console hardware not allways the PC ports then run smoothly... i remember old console games like GTA IV and Deadspace to run really poorly in the PC ports... because the code was not optimized to run on windows....

@@duncanself5111 yeah, you're not wrong about the fast processing of the PS5, but Spiderman ran great for me on PC, as well as many others. I think it all depends on the studio porting the game and optimization, I don't think it has anything to do with one being faster than the other. PC's will always be able to look more visually stunning than consoles. That's not me bashing consoles, I love PlayStation and Nintendo both, but it's just because PC has more options to alter the way the image is presented.
One of the most underrated channels on UA-cam ❤️
Fantastic comparison as always Nick!
they released uncharted 4 first because they want to remake/remastered the uncharted trilogy to released on ps5 and pc (just like the last of us part 1). uncharted trilogy graphics seems a lil bit outdated but uncharted 4 not really outdated, thats why

Requiem is a technical downgrade 😂
@@PurringBluzzmuffin How?
@@PurringBluzzmuffin nah,you just blind and deaf at same time
@@PurringBluzzmuffin It's literally one of the most technically advanced games.
What took u soo long can't believe I felt happiness when I saw u posted this video
Im so happy this came out for pc. Finally something with good story and characters.
Hope they can fix all these bugs
Exactly why PC is overrated. Quality control is terrible for most releases. Games are years late. Will get a gaming PC in near future but doubt it'll take me from console.
It's just Sony tactics. Make the PC version a little worse than the console version to make everyone think the PS5 is more powerful than a PC 🤡
Another lazy port 🤔
So what about having an option with increasing and decreasing LOD draw distance? Would that be an option?
For a game dev that deals in ports, you're remarkably stupid. PCs have these things called graphics settings, they're not one size fits all. There's no good reason for why the PS5 LOD distance isn't available as an option, it's nothing we haven't seen before. Trying to present 115fps at 4K as unacceptable is ridiculously out of touch. Any of Playstation's other ported games put this one to shame. Knowing Iron Galaxy were behind it, can't say I'm surprised either.
Is there any way to change lod? Through config file or something.
Playing U4 at 4K and locked 120fps is a revelation.

Love your videos bro
Why in the hell they hired Iron Galaxy to port this and didn't have Nixxes do it I don't understand. Nixxes has proven themselves over and over that they are very competent at porting games to PC the right way with very detailed graphics options, they always get it right. Nixxes is also owned by Sony now so it really doesn't make any sense for them to contract this out to Iron Galaxy.
Because nixess was busy with spiderman and miles morales

Everything you showed here looks a lot better on the PC version. Cleaner and smoother

Reason why games appear nicer on Sony console vs. PC/Xbox is simple. Sony is paying devs to make game nicer and other systems worse, even though compute power of system capable of higher/better visual. Call me crazy but it has been proven on multiple occasions on multiple games.

I played the PS4 version so many times, then I upgraded to the legacy of thieves edition, why occasionally the subtitles doesn't match with Nathan and Sam dialogue? I literally boot up the PS4 version and double check, it does not have that problem there.

Got some great screenshots from the PC version, great visuals, really fun characters. The gameplay though...let's just say it did not age well.

I don't understand why the Nathan Drake Collection wasn't ported to PC as the first thing. No PC gamers use motion blur :P, that's mainly a tool to hide the crap fest that is 30fps.
@@Battleneter No. That's a tool to help create realistic, life like motion.... which you can't have with 30fps or 60fps too. 60fps is just not enough frames to fully cheat your brain and convey motion. Maybe 240hz+ is enough from my testing to where it looks similar to 60fps with motion blur.
And honestly, motion blur just looks good even in screenshots as it helps to convey the motion and direction of sword swing and so on
