    Hi Jay and Sara, we are Chele and Jimmie in Florida. In January, we are heading for Thailand. We will be in Vietnam in March and I hope to see you guys around. I am proud of both of you. That's Auntie talking right now. You are so positive and I love your spirits. I also appreciate that you are so receptive to new cultures and you just love the life God gave you. Amen you two. Plus, I love that you left the crazy mindsets here. You are the true influencers! Bringing love, respect, and "human" culture back to the world. Much love from your new Auntie. ❤

    I used to live and work in VN for 9+ years and miss that country, its people and society a lot.
    Very astute point about "good food". It's not just tasty food but VN food is prepared with fresh ingredients. Even the meat are recently butchered, the vegetables and fruits are tree-ripened picked (instead of being picked 2 weeks before ripening to allow time for transport and store display like here in the US).
    As for safety, I can't agree more. It's not just the safety of walking around on normal nights either. I hope you have had a chance to attend weekend festivities, holiday celebrations where massive number of people gather, rich and poor, local and foreign, old and young, and you don't have to worry about massive brawls breaking out, rages, gun fights breaking out. That speaks to a CULTURE of non-violence. Don't get me wrong, there are petty crimes like phone theft (which is a HCMC thing, not even Ha Noi or Hai Phong have much of a problem with that) and pick pockets (which Paris, Rome, Barcelona are notorious for) but that's everywhere.
    As for cost, it's not just food and rent. Health and dental and optometry services are good, quick, courteous and cheap. And don't fall into that stereotypical thinking about bad services. Vietnamese doctors and surgeons are flown to Singaporean and Thai hospitals to carry out surgical procedures because they're cheap while their skills are outstanding but those Singaporean and Thai hospitals don't tell it's the Vietnamese doctors doing the work, they say it's a Singaporean or Thai Hospital service. As for food, Gordon Ramsey said that "Vietnamese don't realize how good their food is at such a low price".
    Spiritual minded and family oriented culture - wait until you see pre Lunar New Year. You'll see factory workers scrambling to bring their few gifts back to their home provinces and give to their parents or grandparents or their younger siblings as a tribute to those that raised them. Or you see the countless cemeteries for their fallen soldiers in each and every province, and for the Vietnamese to carry that emotional burden while still being friendly to Americans now, it's such a forgiving and caring culture.
    As for racism, I'm not black but I worked with blacks and they said the "racism" of the Vietnamese is more out of curiosity (kind of like someone in the South asking an Asian "do you know kung fu") as opposed to "racism" out of malice.
    Do learn some Vietnamese phrases and don't be afraid to try to say them because believe me, the Vietnamese vendors will love you to death and they will help you with tips on daily living. That will also help eliminate a lot of "racist" behaviors as well.
    Take care guys and I wish you all the best.

      Wow, thank you for such an insightful comment, @20luzer52! It's clear that Vietnam holds a special place in your heart, and we completely understand why. The fresh ingredients, safety, and warm culture make it a unique and welcoming place.
      We've definitely noticed the friendly nature and vibrant community during festivals and holidays, and it's been heartwarming. We saw some videos on youtube! Also, the health services here have been a pleasant surprise in terms of quality and affordability. We believe Gordon Ramsey's take on Vietnamese food too it really is incredible!
      Your insights into cultural perceptions and the importance of learning the language are invaluable. We'll definitely keep practicing our Vietnamese phrases! Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom with us. Wishing you all the best, hope to see you in VN soon and don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't already! 🙏🏾🌏

    First time seeing you guys. I am 63 years old and came to realize that if I stay here in the states, I will have to work until the day I die. So after lots of research, my wife and I have decided to move to Da Nang next year sometime around March or so. We know no one there. It would be great if we could meet you guys when we get there. You two seem like amazing people. And i know we would feel more comfortable if we knew we had someone who could help us when we first get there, just with finding our way around in the beginning. Jay & Sara the reasons/topics are the TRUTH and real in the west. Living in the Caribbean Jamaica to be exact, cost of Living is stifling. It is 3 times the cost in the USA and we earn 3 times less, just imagine that. Every day is a struggle to keep afloat 🤷🏽‍♀️. HEALTHCARE is at the top of my concerns. I just watched a vlog on natural Medical Care in Da Nang , and I cried.
    I truly appreciate this Vlog. Real issues about the simplicity’s of life we’ve overdone

    The thing I love about Vietnamese cuisine is that in addition to their deliciousness, most of the Vietnamese dishes come with lots of vegetables and herbs, which is quite healthy. Recent scientific reports proved that colorectal cancer rates have risen among young adults in America under the age of 50 as a result of eating more red meat and less vegetables.

    • @JayandSara
      @JayandSara  2 місяці тому +1

      You’re so right, @nikkirosenbek5471! One of the best things about Vietnamese cuisine is how balanced and healthy it is with all the fresh vegetables and herbs. It’s a delicious way to stay healthy. The rise in colorectal cancer rates in young adults in the U.S. is definitely concerning, and it really shows the importance of a diet rich in veggies. Loved the video. Spent two weeks in Vietnam with my wife several years back and yesssss it was definitely one of our top locations to expat in. Very affordable, very laid back, and shocking shocking shocking to see that as a communist country, it felt no different from any place else. Many pleasant surprises there. And fun to boot. Plenty to see and do. And yes brown skin was really quite rare, and locally they loved us. We felt like pseudo celebrities as well. The biggest thing that hindered me / us is the time difference, and we do want to find somewhere closer to home as we have grandkids, we like to spend time with. That flight is REAL. And doing that flight 3 times a year or more can hit a budget. Congrats to you guys and good to see folks waking up to the one world lifestyle.

    Just what the doctor ordered!!! I’m researching and wanted to know the differences between Danang and Nha Trang?

    • @JayandSara
      @JayandSara  2 місяці тому

      Great question, @robertalexander2478! Both Da Nang and Nha Trang are beautiful coastal cities, but they do have some differences.
      Da Nang is known for its mix of modern city life and natural beauty, with stunning beaches, mountains like the Marble Mountains, and cultural sites like the Dragon Bridge. It has a more laid-back vibe with a growing expat community, and it's close to the ancient town of Hoi An, which is a big plus.
      Nha Trang, on the other hand, is more of a tourist hub, famous for its long stretch of beach, vibrant nightlife, and water activities like snorkeling and diving. It has a more resort-like atmosphere with many beachside hotels and restaurants, and it's known for its warm, sunny weather year-round.
      If you prefer a mix of city life with easy access to nature and a quieter environment, Da Nang might be for you. If you’re looking for a more lively, tourist-centered beach experience, Nha Trang could be your spot. Both are fantastic in their own ways!
