@@oluwaseyisubair4426 There are so many pros and cons. The biggest con being the risk of the state govt turning the police force to their personal gestapo. And this goes for all 36 states. Would they ever let the police force be independent? You think you've seen impunity, wait till they establish state police. The rule of law is still not entrenched in us as a nation.

Yes there are lots of inefficiencies in the current format, which if they can be addressed will rectify a lot of our security challenges. The rule of law is not yet entrenched in our country, especially among the political class. Impunity would only become worse with State Police.
