- Throughout history, Mexico has traditionally held the upper hand in their rivalry with the United States, but recent years have witnessed a dramatic shift in the balance. Thanks resurgence to the emergence of top talents such as Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Tyler Adams, the USMNT has become better than they ever have before. Not only that, these players have played pivotal roles in securing significant victories over Mexico, including a thrilling 3-2 win in the 2021 Nations League, a hard-fought 1-0 triumph in the 2021 Gold Cup, a dominant 3-0 victory in the 2023 Nations League, and a convincing 2-0 result in the most recent 2024 Nations League match. Join us as me delve into the impressive turnaround of the USMNT and their recent success against their historic rivals from south of the border. 🇺🇸
This definitely took a while to make, so I'd appreciate if you guys could share, like, and subscribe :).

Its honestly embarrassing. Even the spanish commentators were saying that we are no longer the best team in CONCACAF in the nations league final. Saying how this hopefully will make mexican club owners wake up. Overpricing our young talents which turns away clubs in europe. Why buy an overpriced mexican youngster when you can probably get a cheaper alternative in south america that's probably better? At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if Canada surpasses us too.
Santiago giminez is our only hope

@@sushipizza4439 Santi has the potential to be a great player. 60 appearances, 36 goals in the Eredivisie.
The only player i see making it into the US starting 11 is Edson.
I remember when Chelsea were considering Edson and probably would've signed him too. iirc the transfer window in the Netherlands was closed so he couldn't.
@@_Kiki_29 santi has been dogshit for mexico. Martin and raul are way ahead in your coach’s brain. Chelsea and tyler adams was a done deal, but collapsed because chelsea had liverpool live rent free in their brain
@@sushipizza4439 yeah I can't argue that he hasn't been at his best. I think that goal in the copa oro was his best moment. Coaches have also been a bit of a problem. Idk why tata brought Herrera to the WC at all.
My favorite part was when in an interview after the recent nations league match a reporter asked Pulisic "what do you think of another dos a cero?" and Pulisic responded with "oh, yeah I didn't even notice". That statement just shows how accustomed we all are to see the US beating Mexico.
This post 2000’s generation, later Gen Z has grown accustomed to US beating Mexico and it will be hard to see Mexico really flipping the switch to dominate the US going forward. Even with the big stars in the 2000s- 2019, Mexico still had a losing record against the US, so now with the US actually producing and exporting better talent is will be very hard to see them win 50/50 or dominate like they did in the 80’s and 90’s.

The Canada is now the best team in North America...😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
No just no
I mean Soon they will
My college friends are Mexican American and all support Mexico…obviously. I have had to listen to them talk so much smack about the USMNT for the better part of 10 years. The last 4 years have been amazing. They were coping for a while, but after I asked them “when was the last time Mexico beat the USMNT!” It’s been all crickets.
PKs are Mexico’s Bane.
Should do a Canada v USA rivalry review as well! 🇨🇦⚔️🇺🇸
Canada is good and would be the best team in North America if we could finish better
I saw the 3-0 win in June 2023 with my grandma. She said the game was crazy and she was shocked when McKennie’s shirt was torn. It was joy to watch the USA trash Mexico 3-0.
The crazy part is we’ve still underperformed. Beating Mexico is always fun but this El Tri side is a shell of its former self and we should strive for better. Need to consistently dominate the other countries in this league home and away, also need to start scheduling tougher friendlies against the top European and South American nations. And play outside the US sometimes. Gregg has to go too.
BIG Facts.
This is the worst mexico version in history. Their going through a football crisis right now all thanks to their owners corruption. No pro rel, no domestic cup, no south american tournaments, no exports to europe because of high inflated transfer fees. Its bad
This is the US peak rn this is the best they will do people think they will beat teams like Colombia or Ecuador when they can’t Mexico is ass but there are teams that aren’t who have better coaches and better teams they still won’t win anything outside of Concacaf
@@Clips_FN lol no. With the exceptions of Brazil and Argentina, The US currently has more players exported into the top 10-12 leagues in the world than any other country in both North and South America. around 70 guys in Europe at this moment and that number is gonna go up to 80 by next year. They could very easily have nearly 100 players in the top European leagues by 2026. The US is building depth at a rate never seen in this region of the world before, at least not by anyone except Brazil and Argentina. They aren’t peaking and this is NOT a golden generation. It’s the start of something bigger. But they’ll never be able to use its full potential until there’s a change at manager.
I agree, we need to perform against top opposition, somethin we haven’t done yet 🇺🇸
Its a really good video, but as a Mexican, I felt like you mocked my country in it
2024 mexico looking scary bc more player getting better and going in europe

As a Mexican, our players are not good. Nowadays, They only care about how much money they have and how many cars they have, Mexico should grow up.
They should play in South America to remember what football is about.

I’m still baffled by the Weston Mckennie red card. The ref looks over and sees Weston in the middle of a crowd of like 9 Mexico players, and his shirt is ripped to shreds. And Mckennie gets the red card? Concacaf refs man.
That was my first USA soccer team when USA beat Mexico for the first time
I hurts to see but it true and the most recent meet up was bad Mexicos form was terrible, the coach being stubborn and starting or playing players that should be there in the first place but it been hard as a Mexico fan but i think we can comeback

We’d be the 5th best team in Conmbol if we were in it
Sure the US are the kings of concacaf without a doubt currently, but it doesn't hide the fact that the US still has issues in the federation, rehiring a coach that has shown that he isn't competent enough to coach the national team, also we played sluggish in those 2 games and weren't as dominate as we were last nations league, almost as if we kinda regressed a bit and barely shown any drive and motivation this time just overall lazy, hopefully bext time they show up and work harder this copa america

We have beat Germany in friendlies. And we almost beat Germany in the 2002 world cup. They got lucky the ref didn't call a handball. We beat an undefeated Spain in the 2009 CONFED Cup. We almost hung with Brazil in the final. I think we also tied France in a friendly right before the 2018 world cup
Panama:🤫🧏♂️. Tell me why the US loss against Panama in penalties 2 times, and tell me why Colombia beat the US 5-1.
Colombia 5-0 Panama
And Panama was playing dirty for 15 mins
...and is owned in turn by the rest of the world. Including Panama.
As an half American I can admit since three years that's been truth but people once again started to talk how USA is going to be on elite level in football, cause this team owns mexican nt. Jesus Christ if european football and south american still develop we won't be global powerhouse in this discipline and also there's some teams from Asia and Africa. Since 20 years I've been hearing about bright future for USNMT and of course it can happen however we are still average but we own mexican team and we are producing "talents" so we gonna dominate this sport. Yeah and

we WIN YAY
This is from the past 4 years let’s be serious once mexico comes back it’s over for the usa
Wont happen because mexico fans will pay to watch a mediocre team as if they were good
We need to have gold cups and nations league finals in different countries moving forward. That in and of itself will test the US a great deal
✌️👏👏👏👏
Lol, yes lets move it to Trinidad & Tobago. There are infrastructure needs to consider when bringing this tournament to the world: accommodations for teams/families/fans, top quality stadiums to premiere your event, security/fire & rescue/hospitals. Name me 10 locations outside the U.S and I can name 10 cities easily suitable to put on the Gold Cup and Concacaf tournaments in the US. Is it an advantage - yes, but its not the USMNT's fault.
lol usmnt biggest achievement is beating Mexico kinda sad honestly.
not really, they beaten bigger teams at the world stage than Mexico. they beat Spain 2-0 in 2009 when they where the best in the world
We go by levels man. First the easiest later Argentina, France or even the Netherlands
The US fucked up Mexico in the most important match they have ever faced together. What does it say about Mexico that the US has grown so much in the last 24 years and Mexico regressed? Mexico is USA’s booty call at this point. I’m 20 more years the US is going to be a lot more important than Mexico in the world stage.
That’s not the biggest, it’s reaching the semi finals in a World Cup and either way we dominate most sports so it won’t hurt us
I know imagine getting happy about beating that GARBAGE country in football..so sad
In like the 50th second of the video, he talks about the young people in the U.S National team. The U.S is a lot better at scouting younger talents, meanwhile in Mexico it’s harder considering most players grew up in a poor environment.
Mexico owned usa back then but now usa owns mexico now but both have done bad in copa america and canada and panama did better than both of them
mexico:y la copa conferedaciones 😂😂😎😎🤨🤨👍
Im mexican and mexico might have more wins that the us but rn the us is cooking against them mexico need a hard reset
The national team of Mexico is very much a reflection of your domestic league. Liga MX is an overpriced and overrated league, it used to be a respectable league. if the the league doesn't get fixed soon league will be in terminal decline.
They do own us right now
The MxMNT has become more of a commercial enterprise than an actual competitive soccer team. The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol is happy as long as they keep selling out stadiums in the U.S. and profiting of off merchandise. Player development is the last thing on its mind. They reap what they sow.
Their National team is a reflection of their domestic league(Liga MX); in terminal decline basically.
ima start crying bc I’m Mexican

Ik I still wish he chose Croatia but tbh he was always gonna pick the us
because he knows the US is trending upwards. the USMNT is not going to be the same old self since it has gain a lot of popularity and they are sending a lot of players to Europe to develop them. dont act like Croatia is a powerhouse as well

This is mostly due to all but 1 game of the 7 unbeaten taking place in the US. Beating Mexico at home is not unprecedented at all. In fact, Mexico once went 11 straight matches without beating us on US soil, a stretch that lasted an entire decade (1999-2009). If Mexico had a chance to host more matches, the results would likely be very different due to our ineptitude on the road.
Mexico still plays “at home” in USA… that is not an excuse…
They don’t even complain, they know they’re the home team here vs USA.
@@kevinhoooo2958 Game is still in the US though, which is a big difference.
@@ryansmith1044 for who?? Everyone plays in Europe. That’s a dumb argument.
Mexico is the goat
Mexico could do a hard reset but they won’t because money, USD is all their federation cares about and any reset will have to be a long term project. it’s taken the US at least 8 years, couple of youth tournaments before that to get to this point. They’ll have to humble themselves and prepare the masses that their national team won’t be competitive with the US or Canada for sometime and that their home World Cup could end in disaster.
Mexico has always thought of itself as a giant in soccer but in reality it is, as a spectator not as a top performer on the pitch. It will have to make chances to the system it’s been aiming for the last two and the half decades.
Mexico is still own usa by trophies but in game usa owns Mexico
And we own u guys we better
Who has the most gold cups?
when the USA wanted to be good at soccer they only needed players who play Football
what
This has to do more with mexico getting worse than usa being better. Remember this is the worst mexican team in history all thanks to the league owners corruption which now their paying the price for it. Liga mx currently has pro rel suspended, no domestic cup, withdrawal of south american tournaments, not exporting to europe due to gentlements pact that heavily inflates player price and prohibits mexicos best prospects from going to europe like usa. So no usa doesnt own mexico in football. Mexico still has more trophies, accomplishments, historic players, a better league. Just that corruption is rotting mexican football
that can all change and is / will change in time
neta
Mexico being worse than ever before deffo plays a part but just saying that undermines the development effort from the US side 🇺🇸
This reads like puro ardido lol, dude the USMNT is better right now, that’s all you have to say. Denial is the first stage. Get some humility, and work to improve. A strong Mexico is good for the USMNT, too.
Yeah the Mexican federation has loads of problems that just adds on to the worsening state of the national team. But in terms of overall footballing, the US is a bit behind. Just look how Monterrey bullied Inter Miami in the Concacaf Champions Cup. The national team has done well though in having players go and play in Europe.
Mexico comeback soon😖
I hope not 😁🇺🇸
Yeah, Mexico will win here and there against USA...but USA will win the majority of games against Mexico. Moving forward it's USA dominates over Mexico.
Sure😏😉. How soon is now?
Well it's been 5 years. Maybe 5 more years?
Seriously? It started with dos a cero in Columbus
also btw it’s 1-1 not 1-0 in the thumbnail 🤓🤓
U.S may win the Concacaf tournaments but they sure as hell can't win Copa America or the World Cup
Mexico could become World Champions, but they need some changes:
First the goalkeeper has to retire and the Hindu deity Shiva should replace him.
Then the defense goes like this:Vegeta,Saitama,Pancho Villa and Jet Li.
Midfield:Christ (does magic things),Houdini and Napoleon Bonaparte (leadership),A.Einstein (cerebral dude).
Attack:Patton and Julius Caesar (guts and aggressive attitude).
I wanna kms seeing the USA dominate but I cannot deny they are the better team at the moment, and he does have a point, all these games give the Mexican federation money, which is what they care about and don’t really care if we develop or not, and I do see the USA and even Canada dominating us for like the next decade…UNLESS THE Mexican federation actually switch things up and do a complete 360 like the USA did, like not qualify for a World Cup, but that won’t be until 2030 where that could happen but maybe it won’t since now CONCACAF have more slots so it makes it easier for Mexico to qualify 😵💫😵💫
Yeahhh I don’t really see the Mexican federation changing that much any time soon but maybe after the 2026 World Cup they might switch things up?
You mean 180, not 360 a 360 would put you in the same position as you are right now.

Fun fact only four players out of the USA roster are 100% American
Wtf does 100% american mean i dont understand
Meaning not coming from foreign background ……for an example mason you can play for the USA because your aren’t a we’re born there but u were born in Ivory Coast so u can either chose your mother land or your parents mother land
anybody who was born in the US is 100% American, it doesnt matter the background they have

Dumb comment, USA is made up of immigrants. What is a 100% American? No such thing.
Porque ?! Why!? .Mexico is above . 😅
Y'all have beaten us since 2019,why r ur people coming to the USA😂
I admit the US has an edge, especially now that physicality plays a bigger role. However, the biggest ADVANTAGE is that the US players are never pressured, as nobody really knows them; this is not their country’s sport. That is not the case with any other country in the continent, except Canada and a couple of Caribbean ones… Therefore, there is no actual rivalry, as wins or losses do not mean the same to both Mexico and the US. This is only a fantasy rivalry created by the powers that be to milk the fans, which is really fragmented but nonetheless lucrative $🤣🤣🤣
Isn’t that worst? Playing without pressure?, there is a lot of history btw the usa and Mexico and Canadá as well, things that goes beyond soccer, if you think a rivalry happens just because of one sport then you are simply living in that sports bubble, as a side note there are many things btw Mexico and the usa outside of soccer but I don’t think you are ready to understand it. Soccer it’s only one of the many mediums to take that rivalry into.
