How to stop unwanted collector contact. How and why assets are protected. What about past due income taxes and income taxes. Home ownership, rental and transportation issues. Eric is an attorney for over 42 years and the founder of HELPS, a charitable law firm that assists seniors in all fifty states.

    I am only 63 in July and I get survivors or spousal support can they take that away I got a summons from something from 2014 from LVNV funding I have no idea who this is, but I got a judgement against me, can they take my money?

    hello,eric,my mom gets a pension and social security so both of these are protected in her bank times 2,say she gets 1400.00 on her pension and 400 on her ss so it would be 3600 protected,right?thank u for all u do

      No. Twice the amount of federal benefits is protected automatically. If the pension is not a federal pension or VA benefit it is not a federal benefit, therefore only twice the amount of SS is protected automatically. It is still protected just not protected automatically. There are videos on our channel discussing bank account protections. If mom hasn't been sued there is nothing to worry about in the first place. Eric

      @@HELPSNonprofitLawFirm my dad worked for the govt for 30 years,he was a boiler plant engineer and when he died he left my mom a survivors pension,is that considered a federal pension?will this protected like ss,twice the amt?
